PRAGUE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA FOK AND ITS BRASS SECTION

This magister thesis Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK and its brass section is divided into four chapters. The first chapter deals with the development of the orchestra since its foundation up to the present. The chapters from the second to the fourth focus on the brass section including the detailed artistic curriculum vitas of the current musicians. The second chapter is concentrated
on the members of the trombone section (including also two members that play tube). The third chapter deals with the trumpet section while the fourth chapter deals with the section playing French horn.

Box offices in Prague

This thesis is focused at theater box offices. The key aspects describing the merits and importance of the box offices are introduced such as: distribution of information, visual and location aspects of the box office, pricing policy, and marketing support. Furthermore the work concerns the audience segmentation and its development opportunities.
The scope of the work is built up from general marketing knowledge towards the research analysis of five selected theater box offices in Prague. The theoretical part offers particular solution and discussion on the box office standing as a powerful marketing tool. The field work introduces selected box offices and researches the following criteria: appearance of the box-office, appearance of the ticket, distribution of information, and the marketing standards of theater souvenirs.

Prague theaters in the profit sector

This thesis is mainly focused on a detailed study of three theatres in
profitable bussiness sector in Prague. Considering sensitive nature of the
economic data, some of the information about the for-profit theatres
presented below are actually published for the first time.
The author also studies Mestska divadla prazska (City Theatres of Prague),
a contributory organisation of the city of Prague.
On academic level, the author of this work suggests a dissolution of the
union of the City Theatres of Prague. He proposes that the space of once
freed ABC Theatre should be rented to a new keeper with a profitable legal
personality. Thanks to this, the city of Prague would get considerable
financial savings and could keep maintenance of the representative theatre
in the very center of metropolis at the same time.
The author actually offers three possible models of operations for this
newly-emerged subject. He prepared programming and budgets for two
theatre seasons for the three cases.
In the last chapter he considers the most eligible model. Is it possible to run
this bussiness model with profit? On what conditions?

Cultural Education

This thesis has the subtitle Conceptional cooperation between elementary schools and cultural institutions in Prague. It focuses not only on the theatrical field, but also on other types of institutions such as galleries, music ensembles and libraries in order to gain insight into the situation of programs for schools that contribute to the education of the youngest generation of visitors. It aims to map the situation of cultural education in Prague and to put it into the context of the Czech Republic and Europe. Further, the work examines motivation or vice versa barriers of the implementation of educational programs from the point of view of cultural institutions and schools respectively. This is done on the basis of background research, interviews and studies of the constitutional documents.
The first part deals with the nuances of terminology related to the education of children in the field of arts and culture, and summarizes the conceptual documents, which work with the term cultural education.
Work continues with the summary of the way-out of the current state of cultural education. There are described the most common types of programs for schools, the role of the lector in the institution and different possibilities for the implementation of such programs due to operating conditions.
The second part is devoted to a comparison of outcomes from interviews with eight representatives of Prague's cultural institutions and five teachers from elementary schools.
Finally the two examples of good practice from abroad are introduced as well as two examples of projects in Prague and their potential for future development.

Symposium: ART | MUSIC | MANAGEMENT

This thesis focuses on organizing Symposium: ART | MUSIC | MANAGEMENT in 2014 at HAMU in Prague.
Symposium took place on 14th and 15th of April 2014. Its programme was structuralised in two parts: lectures for public and workshops for students of Art mangement from three participating schools: JAMU, AMU and VŠMU.

The Importance of Czech Composers of the Second Half of the 18th Century

The topic of my Master's graduation thesis is the music of the 18th century and the importance of Czech composers in the context of the whole Europe.At the beginning of the work we are led into the historic consequences where there is a brief introduction of the political and social situation and where the status of a musician in the world of those times and his role are discussed. Then Czech musicality and its importance for European Classicism are referred to.In the following chapters the musical environment in the Czech lands are dealt with, together with the importance of Czech schoolmasters' families and castle orchestras in our countries. The consecutive chapter deals with the Czech emigration, music centres and institutions in Europe and other crucial events of the 18th century. The 8th chapter focuses on the types of compositions in the period of Classicism and their use in practice. The final chapter gives a detailed overview of the compositions for four hands for keyboard instruments in the 18th century, specifically the composers, music examples for compositions for four hands and at the very end the author's own experience of four-hands keyboard playing is shared.

ART CONCEPT OF THE FILM "WENCESLAS SQUARE", ACCORDING TO A SCREENPLAY BY CHRISTOPER MARKUS AND STEPHEN MCFEELY ON A STORY BY ARTHUR PHILLIPS, PRAGUE IN THE EIGHTIES OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY IN A FEAT

The diploma thesis deals with an interpretation of a scenic movie environment in eighties of the twentieth century. In the beginning, I tried to recognize the cultural and historical context of the eighties that introduce us to the optical perception of this time.
For a full picture serves listing movie frames with typical visual representation of these years. Particular attention is given to four feature films that could serve as a scenic genotype, which can be applied in the design of movie scenes of post normalization Prague environment.
The greatest extent of the thesis is devoted to the performing processing of screenplay "Wenceslas Square" by Christopher Marcus and Stephen MrFreely, which was created by the story of Arthur Philipse. It is an unconventional love story, set in Prague in the eighties of the twentieth century and ending with "Velvet Revolution", over which no one of the protagonists is enthusiastic. Attached is a draft screenplay point of each scene, including indicative floor plans and reference photos. Contemporary Dramaturgy for a Large Repertory Theatre

The thesis describes the repertory staged in the Vinohrady Theatre during the five seasons 2007-2012. It analyzes the quality of the plays chosen and the results of their staging based on the reception from critics and audience as well as the experience of the author. It tries to cover some common tendencies in dramaturgy for a large repertory theatre such as Vinohrady. Then it concentrates on the type of repertory with mainly entertaining purpose throughout the history of this theatre and points out that the highlights of its history were when this type of repertory was merged with a consistently realized vision of an artistically distinctive director. According to the author boulevard theatre tendencies sometimes present in choosing the plays and their cast or in their staging contribute to the problems Vinohrady Theatre has as well as sometimes lacking connection between the director's conception and the needs of the ensemble.

State Aid for Prague´s Theatres

This bachelor thesis summarizes the issue of State Aid. The bachelor thesis aims to describe the ways and forms of State Aid, which Prague's theatres can apply for. The first part focuses mainly on the articles that govern the rules of State Aid in the primary law of the European Union. The main source of legal regulation is especially the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. The second part focuses on the description of specific methods and forms of State Aid for theatres in Prague. At the end of the second part the thesis deals with subsidies for theatres in Prague announced and provided by the Ministry of Culture of Czech Republic and Prague Mayor?s Office.
