Resurrection of Jessus of Nazareth as a Question of Hermeneutics

The thesis deals with the message of the resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth, which is crucial for Christianity and its relevant hermeneutical approach. In the first chapter we analyze the contemporary hermeneutical context of the message within the Hellenistic and Hebrew cultures. In the second chapter we present an analysis of pre-Pauline faith confessions, Paul's texts and synoptic Gospels focused on targeted formulating of the message for respective communities and their cultural background. The last chapter wants to present some contemporary relevant hermeneutical approaches to this message. One of them could be the so called mythmaking, which emphasizes the necessity of permanent updating of accepted opinions, messages and realities. We can observe the mythmaking process already with the New Testament authors and each and also our generation is expected to bring the message about the resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth to future generations in a relevant way. Paul and Israel in the Epistle to Galatians

This paper deals with a question, how the apostle Paul saw the Christian church in relation to Israel as a people of God in the epistle to the Galatians. As it is an epistle written for a particular reason to the particular people, the first part of the paper deals with a brief analysis of the epistle as such and its context. The main part of the paper is focused on Paul's specific arguments. The role of Paul's conversion, his mission among the gentiles and his relationship with the Jerusalem authorities are evaluated at first. The paper clarifies also what the Antioch incident was about. What follows is the crucial analysis of the term "works of the Law", against which Paul places the faith alone. The paper subsequently focuses on the exposition of the role of Abraham in Paul's theological thoughts. How Paul saw the curse of the Law and how he understood the Jewish Law as such is examined as well. Paul's concept of the church as the newly redefined people of God is demonstrated on the idea of the freedom in the end.

Problem of Grace in St. Augustin

This bachelor thesis deals with St. Augustine and his theology of grace. It briefly introduces the context of Augustine's philosophy, explains the basic terms, and mainly focuses on the interpretation of Augustine's study of grace. It first analyses the thoughts and ideas of Saint Paul, the Apostle, which are relevant to the subject. Then it moves on to explaining the continuous development of Augustine's study of grace: how it is portrayed in his early works, the way in which it developed in his argument with Pelagius, and finally it introduces Augustine's most radical idea - the concept of predestination from his work To Simplician. The last part of the thesis covers the corresponding topic of love, specifically the love of neighbour, as it is discussed by Hannah Arendth in her work Love and Saint Augustine.

František Čermák - Gustav Paul. Medical facilities from 30's - to 60's

The subject of the present thesis is the architectural aspect of healthcare facilities with a focus on the work of the architects František Čermák and Gustav Paul. The initial part outlines the general classification and development of the building system of these facilities - ranging from the "pavilion" type to the extensive hospital blocks - illustrated by examples. The next part describes types of hospitals and their designs, especially after 1948. It includes a brief overview of both Czech and foreign projects that are of significance. The subsequent part introduces the life and oeuvre of the architects František Čermák and Gustav Paul, detailing several particular projects and realizations. Among those chosen for further elaboration are the projects of the Municipal Infectious Diseases Hospital in Bratislava, Clinical and Foundation Hospital in Zagreb, Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Vyšné Hágy and the Hospital in Prague-Motol; and further their realizations including the Sanatorium in Vráž u Písku, Provisional Hospital in Prague-Motol, completion of the main pavilion of the Hospital in Litomyšl and finally the Hospital in Chrudim.

"You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" Freedom in the gospel of John

This thesis deals with the question of the concept of freedom in the Gospel of John and the relationship between freedom and truth. The first part of this thesis is focused on the research of concepts of freedom and truth from the Old Testament to the New Testament, it is a description of historical background in which both terms were formed and transformed. This thesis also includes a detailed exegesis of the text of J 8.31-36, which served as the starting point. Due the fact that notion of freedom is most often found in the New Testament in the Gospel of John and Paul's Epistles, I insert a chapter charting the occurrence and use of the concept of freedom in Paul's epistles. In the main part of the thesis I compare the use of the concept of freedom in the Gospel of John and in Paul's letters.

The Narrowness of the Jewish World in the <> Encyclical of James in the Context of Political and Religious Conflicts of the Second Temple Period

This dissertation explores the value system held by the author of the Epistle of James. Most likely, this interesting Epistle of a former Galilean peasant is a collection of his sermons or discourses gathered and edited by one of his followers. The Epistle does not relate to any specific problems of concrete communities or persons and, therefore, it may be viewed as an encyclical letter. The author's main tone is: «you must act in this way and only this way». Therefore this document is a type of «halakhah», a literary form used by the sages of Israel before the Common Era. «Halakhah», as well as the Greek literary form paraenesis, does not imply any discussion of the material, but rather calls the readers to submission. The author of this «halakhic» encyclical shifts the attention of his readers from their realities to his idealistic world. He omits many aspects of Second-Temple-Period Jewish life, focusing his attention instead on the rules of spiritual life common for both Judeans and Christians. The Concept of Love in the Epistles of John: Comparison with the Concept of Apostle Paul

The Concept of Love in the Epistles of John : Comparison with the Concept of Apostle Paul This thesis concerns the concept of love in John's Epistles. It tries to compare this concept with the way Paul uses the notion of love in his Epistles. It is primarily based on the biblical text, and it gives voice to commentaries in the second plan. Initially, the thesis summarises the development, the situation and the form of the community in John's concept. Subsequently it analyses John's Epistles' language with regard to the Gospel of John and Paul's Epistles. Another part of the thesis studies what were the sources of the author of John's Epistles and how he understood the theology of love which is examined in several points. At first the identity of God is described as the starting point. It is followed by the changed human identity, which puts man into a new situation. Subsequently it is described how does the author understand his own notion of love and what practical conclusions does he draw. The same outline is followed in the description of Paul's understanding of the notion of love. Finally, both concepts are compared and summarised in several points.
