Determination of Parenthood - Alexandra Hrušáková Abstract In my thesis "Determination of Parenthood", I focused on the largest area of family law. Everyone's life is influenced by his family the whole life. And there are many consequences connected to the relation between a child and his parents. My topic responds lively to the changes brought by current scientific and technical progress and dynamic development and metamorphoses in our society. I tried to describe it in a complex way, but in order to put accent on the most important segments of this problem. From the times of ancient Rome there exists the principle "mater semper certa est, pater incertus", which means that the identity of the mother is always certain, but the father isn't. However there exist some situations in which the principle could not be so clear. These situations created objective of this thesis. This thesis is divided into ten chapters. In every single chapter I wasn't only working with Czech law, but I also attempted to compare it to legislation of another countries The first chapter called Parenthood and Child is dealing with the theoretical definition of the components of a relation among parents and children and the rights and obligations rising from this relation. Psychological Aspects of the Father-Daughter Relationship

MATOUŠKOVÁ, Lenka. Psychological Aspects of the Father-Daughter Relationship. Prague: The Faculty of Arts of Charles University, 2012. 259 pgs. The final thesis. The title of this work is "Psychological Aspects of Father-Daughter Relationship". In its theoretical part it summarizes mainly Czech, but also some foreign, contributions related to the topic of fatherhood, the specifics of paternal behavior and the importance of a functional father for the psychological development of girls. The issue is also viewed from the perspective of possible negative impacts on the psychological development of women who grew up without their fathers. The analysis is primarily focused on their problems with self- esteem, self-confidence and self-image, identity, emotions and emotional life but also on difficulties in future partner and intimate relationships. The theoretical part, with regard to the research, also discusses the concept of risk and protective factors. It respects the current trend of leaving aside pathogenic and shifting towards salutogenic factors, so it focuses mainly on mapping the protective factors in the psychological development of girls who grew up without their fathers while not excluding the risk factors. Parental Couples' Views on Fatherhood

This work focuses on the question of contemporary forms of fatherhood and thus responds to the current discussion about the greater involvement of men in childcare and domestic work. This ongoing discussion is closely associated with the equal opportunities for men and women. However, existing research shows that in most czech families the traditional gender division of family roles, which disadvantages women both within family and work life and limits men in fulfilling their parentel role, still prevails. The concept of active fatherhood presents man as an equally competent parent as a woman who is actively and more equally involved in childcare and domestic work. Poromoting this concept should help to eliminate inequalities mentioned above. The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic, in support of active fatherhood, has conducted sociological research "The Forms of Paternity in the Czech Republic". The qualitative research carried out in this work is based on the research areas of the qualitative part of the mentioned research, specifically the part focused on the involvement of fathers in childcare and their ideas about the father's role. Parenthood as the legal problem

The aim of the thesis is to define content of various aspects of parenthood as they are currently perceived and treated in the legal order of the Czech Republic. The theme is reflected in the work with regard to its historical legal developments, including the reflection of the current Czech legislation. Mentioned is also legislation in terms of international law. It often represents the direction of Czech legislation. The main idea of the domestic legislation parenthood child's interest and the protection of basic human rights. The child is seen as a specific body of legal rules with all its peculiarities and increased need for legal protection with regard to their position in society. For contemporary society, which is child-centered, that is child-centered, are issues related to the rights of the child and his relevant status and position is important to be dealt with in relation to the child as possible and thoroughly as possible. The fathers on parental leave in the Czech Republic

This diploma work is focused on the situation of fathers on parental leave in the Czech Republic. The aim of research is to find out how fathers feel on their parental leave, what is positive or negative for them and how they evaluate this experience. The theoretical part describes the legislative framework of parental leave and parental allowance and explains the concepts such as femininity, masculinity, maternity and paternity. Then I deal with gender stereotypes and situation on the labour market, and their influences on the decision for starting parental leave. Then I formulate arguments for more father's participation in taking care of children. The empirical part is focused on a qualitative research. The research was realized by interviews done with 10 fathers on parental leaves, and analyzed by coding. Then I made a connection between new data and theoretical resources which are described in the first part. At the end I indicate the posibility of doins some other research, for example with both parents.

The theme of Hamlet in Joyce's Ulysses: The reflections of Stephen Dedalus's aesthetic theory in his later theory of Hamlet and the specific implications that arise from it

The thesis deals with the theory of Hamlet created by Stephen Dedalus, the main protagonist of Ulysses, and with its counterpart in the form of Joyce's theory, which can be imagined as a twisted theory of Stephen reflected in the narrative of Ulysses. The first chapter concerns the origins of Stephen's Hamlet theory; it focuses on Stephen's aesthetic views with emphasis on the terms Stephen uses and shows how Stephen diverts from the models he is drawing on. It is revealed that the basic concept of Stephen's aesthetic theory is the indispensability of "real life" for an artistic creation. Most of the terms Stephen employs include this issue, except for his idea of a "detached artist", which is the very opposite of a contact with reality. However, this paradox is a link towards reconcilliation of two opposing tendencies, which seems to form the essence of an artistic creation. The chapter likewise comments on Joyce's ironical treatment of Stephen's views. Stephen detaches himself from Christianity, yet he uses religious parallels and thus, paradoxically, pays homage to it. Irony also surfaces concerning the relation between an artist and his work of art; Joyce's "new" theory of Hamlet is closer to Aquinas than Stephen's original. Parenthood and its current complex legal situation

This rigorous thesis deals with parenthood and its current complex legal situation. The rigorous thesis is divided into seven main parts. The first of them deals with the issue of determining parenthood in general, afterwards I discuss in detail the issue of determination and denial of motherhood and also identifying and denying of fatherhood. A separate part of my rigorous thesis deals with surrogate motherhood issues, as well as discreet and anonymous births and also issues of baby hatches. In the last part of my rigorous thesis I reflect on the bill of the new Civil Code and at the same time, I outlined some of the considerations de lege ferenda. In my rigorous thesis I relied mainly on the current legislation of the issue, of legal professional publications, articles and studies and the present case.

Problematic situations during pregnancy and a baby's first year from the man's point ofview

My bachelor thesis "Problematic situations during pregnancy and a baby's first year from the man's point of view." rises question of fatherhood during problematic situations in life. My discovery was, that most fathers, which filled my questionnaire, has considered their situation problematic, during the pregnancy and first year of baby's life. In futher research I tried to find out wheather or not, fathers would be willing to contact and try an advisory services and found out that they mostly wouldn't. Due to surveys lack of representativeness I conclude this result as higly suggestive which is opening doors for an other work rather then closing this matter as resolved.

Attitudes of adolescents in institutional care towards paternity

This bachelor thesis deals with conception of family of adolescents who are placed in institutional care. The target group of adolescent men aged 15-17 years, who are placed in a diagnostic institute for youth, was selected. The main aim of this work was to find out what attitudes these chosen adolescents have toward paternity. The theoretical part of the work focuses on selected characteristics of adolescence, parenthood and the specifics of the diagnostic institute for youth and children or adolescents who are placed in it. It also describes attitudes and possibilities how to measure them. The empirical part of the work represents a qualitative research, which was carried out within this thesis. A semi-structured interview was chosen as a method of data collection, after that the data were rewritten and analysed using interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA). The results of the research introduce a typology of ideal roles that the figure of the father should fulfill according to the respondents. In their conception of family, selected adolescents mostly work with the traditional concept of family. For them, the fatherhood means for the most part the responsibility that the father should assume for the whole family, which is confronted with respondents' current unpreparedness.
