F. X. Brixi's Oratorium pro die sacro parasceves

The thesis deals with the musical and stylistic analysis of the F. X. Brixi's oratorio Judas Iscariothes, that was preserved in the Osek Monastery under the name Oratorio pro die sacro parasceves. The first part of the thesis describes the musical history, preserved music sources and inventories of Osek. The next section deals with the oratorio in Osek. The main point of this chapter is to inventory oratorio productions performed in Osek during the 18th and early 19th century. The key part of the thesis is the musical and style analysis of the oratorio Judas Iscariothes. Appendix contains the edition of this oratorio.

Dominion of the Cistercian monastery in Osek with a focus on its incorporated parishes

This master's thesis deals with the dominion of the Cistercian monastery in Osek. It describes the development of the dominion since the foundation of the monastery till the present day. Its aim is to present the dominion as a distinctive economic and cultural unit interconnected with a system of incorporated parishes and their collatures The thesis is dedicated to 9 incorporated parishes of the Osek monastery that were proved to be part of the dominion during a longer time period. The thesis also explores the issue of the Marian pilgrimage tradition, which was strongly reaffirmed after the Council of Trent. The tradition is described in the context of history of two of the incorporated parishes - Mariánské Radčice and Jeníkov - where it is still possible to find pilgrimage sites with depictions of Virgin Mary as Our Lady of Sorrows.

A torso of a landscape. The story of a baroque landscape of northern Bohemia.

(English) This study has two aims. First, to reconstruct the landscape arrangement of the northern tip of the North Bohemian Basin at the end of the baroque era, focusing on compositional relationships between landscape dominants, both in a scale of pilgrim areas, castles, churches and monasteries and in a scale of chapels and small sculptural and architectonic monuments. The second aim is to, on the example of this - in baroque era extraordinarily rich landscape - examine the phenomenon of the Czech baroque landscape by comparing conclusions of the reconstruction with the widespread conception of compositional principles of baroque landscape. For this purpose, a comprehensive catalogue of architectonic and sculptural monuments in the researched area at about 1780, was compiled. Thereafter a map was created, that shows not only the objects as such, but also the compositional relationships between them. The most important resource for the map was a collection of maps of the First military mapping of Bohemia. In the text, the landscape is described through the perspective of a baroque pilgrim, browsing the landscape along the old roads of three selected routes. Regional Identity and Symbolic Borders between "Us and Them": Case Study Hrdlovka's Demolition Effect on Osek Abstract The bachelors work focuses on the creation of regional identity and symbolic borders between "Us and Them" on the Osek city example, where 2000 people from the Hrdlovka village moved in. Hrdlovka was demolished for brown coal mining purposes. The approach of my work was to find out what factors are influencing the creation of an identity attached to a specific location based on which a symbolic "Us and them" border between the initial Osek and initial Hrdlovka inhabitants was formed. Further on I examined, if there is a relationship between regional identity and symbolic borders. The results of the quantitative research, which is mainly based on in-depth interviews, indicate that regional identity is being formed depending on the time spent in one place, city of origin, age of respondent, life and environmental conditions, collective awareness and relationship which identify ourselves in the given location. Symbolic borders arise only in situations where the location-attached regional identity is threatened. History and present of Cistercian monasteries libraries in Bohemia

Diploma thesis discusses the history of the library of the Cistercian order in Bohemia since the founding of the first monastery in 1143 through the Hussite wars, the Thirty Years War, the dissolution of monasteries during the reign of Joseph II. to the present. Most attention is given to the monasteries, which remained preserved for our generation. The final part of the diploma thesis deals with libraries in Vyšší Brod, Zlatá Koruna and Osek from the perspective of the reader. Attention is paid mainly funds, services and accessibility.
