The first part of the thesis describes the banking system, the characteristics and origin of central banking in the world and the Czech region. Subsequently, the circumstances of the establishment of the National Bank of Czechoslovakia and the Czech National Bank are presented. Hlaváč, Martin ; Čechurová, Jana (advisor) ; Jakubec, Ivan (referee) ; Kvaček, Robert (referee)
The main goal of my dissertation is to analyze the personality of Engliš, who was an important representative of the scientific and financial elites during the period of the First Republic. I will venture to explain the causes of his rise during the First Republic and aim to characterize his relations with other elites. The term "elite" refers not only to representatives of the political and financial life of the First Republic, but also to the important leaders of its scientific and cultural scenes. In my dissertation I want to address the relationships between the elite of the First Republic and Karel Engliš. Public opinion played an important role in the relations between Engliš and the elite of the First Republic, in particular as Engliš was presented in the media and how the public perceived him. His family was supportive of Karel Engliš but also caused him many problems. I have found the main material for my thesis in the archive of the National Museum (Archiv Národního muzea), the Literary Archive of the Museum of Czech Literature (Literární archiv Památníku národního písemnictví), the archive of Charles University (Archiv Univerzity Karlovy), the archive of Masaryk University in Brno (Archiv Masarykovy univerzity v Brně) and the archive of the National Bank of the Czech Republic (Archiv...

Ritterová, Zuzana ; Soběhart, Radek (advisor) ; Szobi, Pavel (referee)
This work is devoted to the topic of Banking Office by the Ministry of Finance. The main question, I am focusing on, is why the Czechoslovak National Bank wasn't activated until 1926. At the basis of unpublished sources and study of the latest scientific literature, I came to conclusion that there are three possible explanations. The factor which influenced the period of waiting for activation the most was the requirement of the currency stability. The most fundamental discovery is that the duration of the Bank office activity was pretty prolonged by the politics of financial ministers. These tried to increase the value of the currency, before it was stabilized and the management of currency would be given to the central bank.

Following is an analysis of impact of gradual translation from mixed economy to centralized model of sovietised economy on the Central bank of Czechoslovakia and later on the Czechoslovak State Bank. Firstly, the commercial banks were nationalized in compliance with decrees of President Edvard Beneš. The National bank was transferred into state ownership as well in 1948, concluding the banking concentration process. Two years later, Czechoslovak state bank emerged and took over the obligations of the now-defunct Central bank as well as of the remaining commercial banks. Competences of the State bank further expanded until year 1958, when it incorporated agenda of the Investment bank, began offering long-term loans and finally became a monobank.
