Studená, Hana ; Procházková, Jana (advisor) ; Kucharská, Anna (referee)
The thesis considers an issue of the value of music in a human life. In the theoretical section the author interprets the term music and its roles in human life using available literature. Moreover, she focuses on the influence of a music on human psyche, in context of emotions, thinking, fantasy and motivation. The author also deals with the description of musical development of a personality. The author is also attentive to issues of values and value orientation in a human life. In the empirical section the author works with three groups of respondents; namely, with active musicians (i. e. playing a musical instrument or singing). She included professional musicians (group of students of music) and amateur musicians (group of working people with a musical hobby and a group of university students with a musical hobby). There are 33 respondents in the sample aged from 20 to 30. The comparison of these groups is based on the method of halfstructured interview. Issues of the development of musical activities and influences that mattered in this development, a motivation to musical activities, an influence of musical activity on personal life of the respondents (especially in context of relationships), a value and function of a music in an overall value orientation of respondents are compared. Mapping the Individual Musical Experience in Post-Apartheid South Africa: A Bio-Ethnography of Township Dweller Lesiba Samuel Kadiaka
Zdrálek, Vít ; Matoušek, Vlastislav (advisor) ; Lucia, Christine Elizabeth (referee) ; Horáková, Hana (referee)
The dissertation is a biographical ethnography of an individual, ordinary musician and Mamelodi township dweller, Lesiba Samuel Kadiaka (*1962) in South Africa. It is based largely on fieldwork totalling more than 12 months conducted in five periods over six years between 2006 and 2011. It examines the possibilities of studying an average (rather than 'leading') musician ethnographically and their implications and consequences for wider ethnomusicological and South African music research. It makes a practical contribution to the wider debate about the relationship between individual, social, and cultural structures, and breaks new ground in its focus on the previously little known music and practices of Mr. Kadiaka's church, the Zion Christian Church. The research consisted mainly of ethnographic observations of various kinds of musical activities in which Mr. L. S. Kadiaka was involved in as a solo musician (songwriter and song singer) and as a member of the ZCC, on the one hand, and of deep interviews over the time span of six years, on the other. It consists of a biographical part dealing with his narratives about childhood in rural Ga-Mphahlele and his later life in Mamelodi township. Iconographic historical sources of a private nature are use too. The second part describes in three large...
Czechoslovak musical elite in the late eighties and early nineties of the 20th century
Matějíček, František ; Havel, Jan (advisor) ; Houda, Přemysl (referee)
At the turn of the eighties' and nineties' of the 20th century, correspondingly to the whole social scale, significant changes happened on the domestic music scene. The musical and the creative elite were confronted with the Anglo-American production, and were forced, in a number of cases, to come up with the alternative ways of expressing themselves under the new circumstances. The goal of this thesis is to compare and contrast the situation on the domestic scene during the period right before the November 1989 and the period to follow; based on the various testimonies of popular Czechoslovakian musicians. The research aims to collect the information regarding contemporary popularity of the Czechoslovakian modern music and authors from the eighties'. I'm trying to verify if the critique perspective of one part of the public experts on the allegiance of the musical elite and the ideology of the pre-November regime is justified or not. At the same time, the thesis follows the fortune of the music stars in relation to the changing social order and, in addition to it, establish the basis for the study of the further research in the field.
Methods of Testing Rhytmic-motot Relations in Children Younger Age
Králová, Anna ; Černá, Jana (advisor) ; Kolbová, Kateřina (referee)
Title: Methods of testing rhythmic-motor relations in children of younger school age Objectives: The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to find out, through a systematic literature search, what is the evidence of professional publications on the topic of methods of testing rhythmic-movement relationships in intervention programs for children of younger school age and at the same time to create a comprehensive overview of the used testing methods. Methods: To create this bachelors thesis, systematic research methods were used in accordance with the PRISMA statement. Based on keywords, data were collected from scientific databases (Web of Science, EBSCOhost, Scopus, PubMed). Professional publications were further selected according to predetermined criteria. Zotero citation manager was used to sort the publications. Publications that met the predetermined criteria selected for the bachelor's thesis were analyzed in detail. The risk of bias ("Risk of Bias") was assessed for each publication. Results: A total of 9 studies met all the predetermined criteria. However, none of them primarily focused on testing rhythmic-movement relations in children of younger school age. The final studies examined the effects of rhythmic-movement intervention programs on various skills. They tested rhythmic-movement...
Women of important composers, involved in music
Chvalová, Viola ; Palkovská, Jana (advisor) ; Tichá, Libuše (referee)
In this thesis, I summarize the personal and professional profiles of a selection of musically active women who lived alongside prominent composers. These are six women artists from the Baroque to the 20th century. In each chapter, a different element of their lives became the focus of my interest. Sometimes, given the paucity of reliable sources of information (especially in relation to the Baroque period), this is merely a summary of hypotheses, sometimes I focus more on the professional side of the personality, and sometimes on personal and family matters. The thesis deals with sections of music history with which the general public is not so familiar and yet which I suppose deserve to be known. I focus on the virtuoso of the seventeenth-century harpsichordist Marie-Rose Dubois, who, alongside her husband J. B. Forqueray, was a concert artist, the singer and important creator of the Bach manuscripts Anna Magdalena Bachová, the outstanding singer of the classical period Josefina Dušková, the wife of the Czech composer F. X. Dušek. I also deal with the harpist and composer Sophie Corri-Dussek, wife of the musical bohemian J. L. Dusik, the most important 19th century pianist Clara Schumann and the opera singer Berta Lauterer, partner of the Czech composer J. B. Foerster. There are, of course, many...

Good Chef
Rajmon, Daniel ; Bena, Julie (referee) ; Mazanec, Martin (advisor)
An interactive project called The Good Cook serves a multi-course menu consisting of a narrative video, a music album and a performance. The primary focus here is on the play of associations of cultural overlaps around cookery, which continue to accumulate and serve here as a tool for further imagery projected into the project's divided segments. Although the segments are separate, they are loosely related and interact with each other. The theme of cooking serves as a support system for the storytelling, which paraphrases cooking through, for example, the symbolism of the everyday, cooking TV shows, or pop culture metaphors such as the internet term "let him cook".
Machine learning in audio effects
Skinhead subculture within post-industrial era and its possible development through the eyes of its own members
Jakubčanin, Petr ; Maslowski, Nicolas (advisor) ; Urban, Lukáš (referee)
This diploma thesis is based on the essence of the subculture anchored in the post- industrial era. Through the relevant literature, I theoretically analyze the relationship of the skinhead subculture to the dominant culture and uncover its characteristics formed mainly by the influences of globalization, actual capitalist system and mutual interaction of various social factors. I also focus on the specific signs and internal differentiation of the subculture, which are related to its politicization. In the empirical part, I focus on answering research questions through qualitative research, which aims to reveal the emic perception of subculture in the post-industrial era through the eyes of its members themselves. The testimonies of skinheads about the current state of their subculture and its possible future development are then thoroughly analyzed and interpreted.
