Zatloukal, Zdeněk ; Fujdiak, Radek (referee) ; Holasová, Eva (advisor)
Currently, a key aspect of industrial automation is ensuring a high level of security, reliability, and data availability in industrial communication networks. Given the rising cyber threats, it is essential to develop and implement advanced strategies for protecting industrial infrastructures. This thesis aims to perform a comprehensive analysis and development of security solutions for industrial networks, focusing on the Modbus RTU/TCP and MQTT communication protocols, which are crucial for the effective management of modern industrial operations. The work employs methodological approaches that combine theoretical research with practical experiments. It includes an analysis of existing protocols, the design of communication security through these protocols, and their subsequent testing in a controlled industrial environment to verify security, efficiency, and reliability. The analysis revealed significant deficiencies in the security of existing systems and led to the integration of new security measures into the industrial switchgear, which significantly improved the protection of data and communication infrastructure. The implemented solutions demonstrate significant progress in protecting industrial networks against various types of attacks. This thesis represents a significant contribution to the field of industrial network security. The results of the work provide valuable information for the further development of security technologies in the industry and offer practical guides for engineers and technicians who are working on improving the security status of industrial systems.
Security Testing Tool for Industrial Devices
Pospíšil, Martin ; Člupek, Vlastimil (referee) ; Fujdiak, Radek (advisor)
The master thesis is focused on the issue of security of industrial devices in information networks. The theoretical part first describes the convergence of operational and information technologies. It then focuses on the industrial protocols Modbus TCP and OPC UA, security models, and an analysis of the current state of security testing. The practical part of the master thesis details the design and implementation of the developed tester and the methodology created for testing purposes. In conclusion, experimental testing of two industrial devices with the above communication protocols is conducted.
Analog 0-10V to Ethernet convertor
Hlúpik, Martin ; Štohl, Radek (referee) ; Bradáč, Zdeněk (advisor)
This Master`s thesis concern with problematic of connection analog sensors with voltage output 0-10V to a ethernet communication network. Due to a quick evolution and an application ethernet nets to industry and building technologies is possible to use this solution for connection remote diagnostics and setting of existing analog sensors without bus communication interfaces on instrumentation level of field bus networks. The converter is based on Rabbit module, which can be used like webserver for setting, calibration and data recording. For purpose of wide converter use the data output will be purvey on ethernet interface by Modbus TCP and on asynchronous serial interface RS232. First part of thesis is aimed on description of existing solutions and introduction with principles of linearization and calibration of A/D converters. Description of communication standard Modbus TCP widely used in industry applications. Second part of thesis describes design a realization of project. Here is described equipment block diagram with detail description of each block and devices used. In the part of implementation is description of device firmware with program function description and control. Last part is engage with module function verification supported with plantz of measurements and tests. The thesis is ended with evaluation results, knowledge and detections found out in development of project.
Smart signaling unit
Stejskal, David ; Bradáč, Zdeněk (referee) ; Baštán, Ondřej (advisor)
The essence of this bachelor thesis is a complete design of hardware and software solutions and subsequent implementation of a Smart Signaling Unit. It is intended to replace the currently installed signaling beacons and to improve the existing testbed Self-Acting Barman with its features. The designed device is able to signal machine states according to the PackML standard. It can also communicate via Ethernet using the industrial communication protocol Modbus TCP, while implementing a Modbus server, which provides services for other connected devices (Modbus clients). The device also implements the Power over Ethernet (PoE) standard, thanks to which it is possible to power the signaling unit directly via an Ethernet cable, on which communication also takes place. At the beginning, the main goals of the work are presented together with the requirements for the Smart Signaling Unit. Subsequently, the importance of signaling units in the industry is explained and the basic parameters for the selection of a specific product are given below. Following this, a survey of available signal towers on the market was carried out. In the theoretical part of the work, the Industry 4.0 initiative is first described in more detail, on the basis of which the testbed Self-Acting Barman is briefly introduced. The following is a comprehensive description of the industry standards PoE, Modbus TCP and PackML used in device design. The concept of the signaling unit already belongs to the practical part of the thesis and deals with the methods of display, which represent the primary function of the Smart Signaling Unit. An integral part is the hardware concept, which describes the most important used components. The final part of the work deals with the creation of a printed circuit board and the development of firmware using the Visual Studio Code development environment and the framework ESP-IDF from the company Espressif.
Experimental application of robotic arm using industrial communication protocols
Kohoutek, Tomáš ; Pospíšil, Ondřej (referee) ; Fujdiak, Radek (advisor)
This diploma thesis is focused on the analysis of the most well-known industrial protocols and acquaintance with the Dobot Magician robotic arm. The main goal of this thesis is to create an industrial loop, which consists of communication – client and server. The individual components of the industrial loop consist of three robotic arms (including peripherals), their control units (in our case Raspberry PI 3B +), switch, and a server. The control units communicate with the server using two selected industrial protocols, namely Modbus TCP and EtherNET/IP. The result of the work is an endless loop, which tries to resemble the real operation of the assembly and disassembly of the box equipped with dierent items.
Gantry crane control via Modbus TCP
Arm, Jakub ; Štohl, Radek (referee) ; Kaczmarczyk, Václav (advisor)
Modbus TCP is a protocol for communication via ethernet bus. Goal of this work is realization of control of gantry crane model from personal computer. It is accomplished by Modbus converter, which communicates via ethernet bus. There are two ways of controlling. By graphic user application written in C# or by web pages running on created HTTP server. All services use created library, which is written in C language and communicates via Modbus TCP with Modicon Momentum unit. This unit interprets orders in form of Modbus protocol to controlling of standard industry inputs and outputs for process instrumentation. This process instrumentation is binded to control the gantry crane model.
