Research of Advanced Online Handwriting Analysis Methods with a Special Focus on Assessment of Graphomotor Disabilities in School-aged Children

Analysis of the Causes and Nature of Ethnic Conflicts
Kohout, Jan ; Plechanovová, Běla (advisor) ; Parízek, Michal (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to analyze factors responsible for onset of ethnic conflicts and selected characteristics. By comparing to non-ethnic conflicts it was determined, if there are any differences in onset mechanisms of these two types of conflicts and thus if there is a space for explanatory role of ethnicity as a cause of ethnic conflicts. Selection of examined factors is congruent with the relevant literature and existing analyses and reflects the context of contemporary conflict research. The influence of male unemployment rate, level of Human development index and its inequality-adjusted version, human rights and finally the influence of conflicts in neighbouring countries on the onset of conflict is tested by statistical methods in component analyses. Also the intensity of ethnic and non-ethnic conflicts, war years and HDI are also compared. The comparative style of the research helps to understand the true nature of causes of intrastate conflicts and indicates, that there is no difference between the two types. Empirical character of this thesis is also the reason for assessing it within the context of other quantitative studies of conflict, comparing the results and defining the proper level of analysis for reaching tangible contributions.
From Brussels with love? Data Analysis of Social Media usage by Czech Members of the European Parliament
Vanka, Boris ; Váška, Jan (advisor) ; Ullrichová, Eliška (referee)
Populism is on growth throughout Europe and the World. Research has shown that especially in the European Parliament, the number of populist politicians is rising over the last decades. Likewise, social media usage by users is booming and is used particularly by this type of politicians who spread their messages, using emotionality and negativity. Since the literature indicated that populists are especially active, efficient, and followed this research aimed to analyze the relationship between the degree of populism and its influence on the three variables of the Members of the European Parliament elected for Czechia. In order to evaluate such a relationship, the data from Facebook (page posts, interaction by users, and numbers of followers) were utilized to test defined hypotheses and answer the research question. Exploratory Data Analysis was used as a wider framework, while Pearson Correlation Coefficient served as a tool for computing the correlation. Therefore, the scale of the independent variable (degree of populism) was based on data about Czech political parties, reflected in anti-elitism, corruption salience, protectionism, and nationalism. The dependent variables were based on activity, efficiency, and acquirement of followers. Moreover, the test of statistical significance was conducted...
From Brussels with love? Data Analysis of Social Media usage by Czech Members of the European Parliament
Vanka, Boris ; Váška, Jan (advisor) ; Ullrichová, Eliška (referee)
The central theme of this thesis was a deeper understanding of social media communication by Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) elected for Czechia between 2020 and 2022. The author decided to conduct the research due to the influence the politicians maintain (factual within the legislative process and the one based on their authority when co-creating opinions in the public sphere), while a lack of academic studies on such a topic existed, establishing a research gap to be filled. In the past, researchers within the field of political sciences focused primarily on the qualitative dimension of online communication (text analysis) or only one of the social media platforms (mostly Twitter). This approach could uncover sentiments but made it much more challenging to spot trends. Therefore, the data from Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram were obtained via an online provider Zoomsphere, mainly from the parties' leaders in the European elections of 2019. These pieces of information were researched with a data analysis approach, which consisted of nine main steps. After evaluating the research aim, data were identified, collected, extracted, cleaned, aggregated, analyzed, and finally visualized in order to make conclusions based on the outcomes. Once this process was finished, the data were compared...
Analysis of video game magazines Level and Score and their influence on a local game development scene
Bartlová, Natálie ; Švelch, Jan (advisor) ; Švelch, Jaroslav (referee)
This thesis examines how the game magazines Level and Score cover the Czech and Slovak game development scene. The thesis uses mixed-method research, combining quantitative content analysis with semi-structured interviews. The research is based on two hypotheses, that Level magazine will cover the local developer scene more than Score, and that it will contain fewer advertisements than Score. The methodological part is preceded by a theoretical part that explores games journalism and its connection to the games industry and the gaming community. The history of gaming magazines in the country is also outlined, with an emphasis on Level and Score magazines. There is also a chapter on the domestic development scene, which sheds light on the local issues of this profession. The main challenges are finances, lack of formal education, and the overall difficulty of working in the video game industry. However, a look at the problems of the industry on a global scale is also included. The methodological part presents the methodology and the sample, which consists of randomly selected issues from both magazines that were published in 2020. The quantitative analysis and subsequent interviews with the editors of both Level and Score proved the validity of both hypotheses. The discussion of the results and the...

Pretlová, Anna ; Háša, Marek (advisor) ; Hájková, Karolína (referee)
This paper examines the influence of social networks on the diet of celiacs. The aim was to investigate how social networks, specifically Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and Pinterest, can influence the preparation, purchase and consumption of gluten-free products. The chosen research method was quantitative analysis. Results were obtained from Czech and a few Slovak celiacs and people with gluten allergy with help of a questionnaire survey followed by descriptive analysis. The questionnaire itself was disseminated on the social networks Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp. The final sample included 264 from the original 279 respondents. The results show that the use of social networking sites is popular among patients with celiac disease and gluten-free diets and that users benefit from it. It was also revealed that the most useful social networks are Instagram amd Facebook. On the other hand, YouTube, Twitter and Pinterest fell completely in the evaluaion. The main reason for this is the small amount of beneficial information. When it comes to eating, celiacs are mainly looking for new recipes, products and places that offer gluten-free meals, according to the results. In addition to extend dietary horizons, social networks have also provent to contain important information about the disease...
