Grobelný, Miroslav ; Ryšková, Mireia (advisor) ; Větrovec, Pavel (referee)
The title of this degree work is "Christians and Politics from the View of the New Testamental Texts". The main purpose is to identify various aspects of the view at the political power in the texts of the New Testament, to make a judgement about these texts on the background of its historical and literary context and to look for its common topics. In this thesis we went into details about relatively great number of passages with the goal to attain the global point of view. At the beginning we justified why to look for the inspiration in the life of Jesus Christ. Then we focused on Jesus' political principles. We treated conflicts between John the Baptist and Herod Antipas and conflicts between Jesus and political and religious leaders of his days. We focused mainly on the conflicts connected with the Jewish Law and paying taxes. Then we treated the conflict between Jesus and Pilate, which ended in Jesus' crucifixion. Then we briefly touched on the Paul's point of view and we mentioned several examples of the persecution of the Christians from the pagans. At the end we made an attempt to resume briefly what the New Testament says about the relationship of the Christians to the political power and we joined the short mention about the relationship between the Church and the state in the social doctrine of...
Faith of Peter in the Context of Jesus' Epiphany on the Sea
Kocourková, Simona ; Brož, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Hřebík, Josef (referee)
Peter's faith in the context of Jesus's epiphany on the sea. Analysis of an excerpt from the gospel according to Matthew 14, 22 - 33 with respect to the experience of faith of the Apostle Peter. The study deals with the analysis of an excerpt from the gospel of Matthew about Jesus's epiphany on the sea (Mt. 14, 22 - 33) with regard to actions of the Apostle Peter. The first part is dedicated to the text of the pericope itself, its origin, placement and function in the gospel of Matthew. Literary and textual analysis is performed mainly by comparison with analogical excerpts from other gospels, especially the gospel of Mark. Due to this, the unique message of Matthew's gospel, which is Peter's behaviour as the answer of faith to the manifestation of Jesus's divinity, is revealed. The evangelist thus unravels a vast composition about the church. The figure of the Apostle Peter, his role and meaning within the whole text of the gospel is the subject of the second part of the thesis. The picture of the first disciple is characterized not only by an exemplary faith, but also by a failure and an example of human weakness. This fact leads to the question about what was the goal that the evangelist followed by describing the negative aspects of Peter's actions. The third part deals with the fundamental...
A personal encounter with Jesus opens the way to inner transformation: Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4:1-42)
Štěpán, Michael ; Brož, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Scarano, Angelo (referee)
In this Diploma Thesis, I am trying to personally grasp the pericope of the Gospel of John describing the meeting of Jesus with a woman of Samar′ia. Within the stated methodological procedures, the intention was to point out to the infinite source of inspiration in Scriptura sacra, in other contexts as well. An individual approach towards the specific text is also important. In the introduction, the historical environment of this story's origin from the fourth chapter of the Gospel of John is mentioned, within the perspective of social, national and cultural phenomena. The authentic development of the meeting itself is gradually monitored. Jesus' answer is loving and at the same time, uncovers personal depths. There are a lot of dialogue levels that gradually go to the transformation of the addressed woman of Samar′ia. Working with this biblical text is primarily focused on the topics that are practically considered when investigating the connections of a specific person in the specific life situation and God as Jesus Christ. Keywords Jesus Christ, woman of Samar′ia, meeting at the well, answer, inner transformation, profession
A missionary dimension of the journey of Mary to Elisabeth (Luke 1:36-45)
Anderlová, Iveta Isabela ; Brož, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Ryšková, Mireia (referee)
Missionary aspects of the Visitation of Virgin Mary to Elisabeth (Luke 1:36-45). This work deals with the pericope "Visitation of Elizabeth" in the Gospel of Luke as the precursor of Jesus' missionary journey through the earth into the Kingdom of God. First the exegetical issues of individual verses are described followed by commentaries and interpretative notes of several exegetes using various translations of the Sacred Scripture. Next subject is the journey, as described in Luke's gospel, as well as the missionary view of the journey of the Virgin Mary to visit his relative Elizabeth, as well as the life journey of every man which leads to the Kingdom of God, which is a theme of Jesus Christ's preaching on his way to Jerusalem (Gospel of Luke). The work attempts to capture the necessary features of missionaries that can be identified in the pericope of the Virgin Mary on the road to Elizabeth. Elizabeth herself, as the person to whom the Virgin Mary was sent as a missionary is also an important topic in this work. Elisabeth shows the task and mission of the missionary himself, not only to bring and show Christ to others, but also to enable him to whom he is sent to confess his faith and show his piety. Keywords Virgin Mary, Elisabeth, mission, journey, Jesus Christ, visitation, missionary
