Jaroslavice – place in the landscape
Májek, Jan ; Veselá, Markéta (referee) ; Foretník, Jan (advisor)
The work is aimed at the center of the village, which is a square that, in size comparable to that of the Square of Freedom in Brno, is an exhibition of problems: considerable deterioration of the building fund, underground use of the public space, which is moreover unreadable and unreachable. The proposed solution divides the area of the square into three smaller public spaces that have a different character and function. Mariánské námětí is the torso of the existing one, which has been earmarked for the building of a new municipal office and library, is characterized by town houses and the location of services and public amenities. The second area is a semi-detached cottage. It is dominated by walnuts and water. The proposed buildings are oriented towards the library and the wine house. The third such defined area is the Wine Market, which is the crossroads, the scattered area of the surrounding houses, like a school, shops, or wine house. A large part of the COOP building has a sports complex with a halo and a swimming pool. There are solved especially the buildings of the town hall with a library and a wine house.

The concept of the proposed structures is considerably regionalist, as early as in the use of types, forms and principles, as well as used materials. The effort was not only a functional layout winery, but focused also on the context and scale the configuration, hand in hand with the use of construction materials. Buildings are simple in shape and structure, perhaps understated. The purpose was to provide functional, comfortable, cozy setting up, the feeling of safety and comfort. It is therefore designed courtyard on the south side formed by the existing building workers' hostel, which will be adapted to the family home, opposite the north side of the main block, then the winery, a wine production, storage and distribution, incl. technical background holding a stock for agricultural machinery. The eastern wing of Justice would be dedicated space for the tasting with a link to existing wine cellar that his position in the new piece occupies an attractive position.

South Moravia has a good quality soil. Changing climatic conditions and an unhealthy human approach result in drought and soil erosion. Soil, like our nutritionist, is very rare. Therefore, in my work I deal with the proposal of a research institute for soil protection, which I place on the site of a former manor court in Jaroslavice. The Institute consists of three buildings that define a common yard. The location of the complex complies with the direct connection to the adjacent experimental field. Jaroslavice, as a municipality in the warmest and driest area in the Czech Republic, is ideal for research.

The aim of this thesis is to design improvements to increase the quality of the living in the territory of Jaroslavice and its surroundings. This South Moravian rural area located near the Austria–Czech Republic border may currently be considered as a No man's land. Given the subject of the thesis, the author suggests the conceptual solution of this problem. Focusing on the life in a border region analyses offer of the local development, amenities and opportunities, not forgetting about the education. The work suggests an entirely new local education system from the very beginning - from kindergartens to secondary education. The missing high school forces students to travel or to move to nearby towns such as Znojmo. what usually leads to their breakaway from the local environment. This could be avoided by building a new secondary school in Jaroslavice. It would link to the rich history of this village from the pre-war period, when it was considered an important transition point between the cities of Brno and Vienna. Besides, Czech-German school can re-establish mutual cooperation between both countries. Designated school is based on a current education needs, e.g. practical training experiences in local businesses, which is costs saving and immediately applicable. The subject of this thesis is placed into the area of the ruined mansion under the local castle. Besides school, there is also Food Center and Research Institute. All three institutions cooperate together, similarly to the concept of manor court (meierhof) in the past. Educational facilities are arranged in U-shape form with the inner courtyard and the large greenhouse on one side. Each wing of the building is self-sufficient and has a different character. The west wing is two-storey, on the ground floor there is a library with classrooms for social sciences and the heart of the house - room for theatre and performances. On the second floor there is a school headquarters facing the courtyard with the ability to check the daily routine. The central wing with entrance consists of classrooms of natural sciences and another social science classrooms located towards the courtyard for eventual outdoor lessons. Last part consists of computer classrooms made for the technical sciences. This wing leads to the lower floor with side entrance to a parking lot. Greenhouse, designed for both the public and the students, is an inseparable part of the school.

The building of winery forms at the border created by recently defunct brickyard, located between break made by extraction and basement alley is creating pass into the vineyards. Its shape complements the landscape, leaving the vines to break through, create a place for relaxation and tasting their close contact. The underground part of the building is effectively used for wine making, tasting rooms on the first floor overlook the center of the action. Aside from the main building in a quieter part of the site are placed accommodation facilities for all visitors. The centrality of the working space and the availability of new vineyards makes workflow significantly easier. The new object so becomes part of the surrounding distinctive nature.

The main aim of my thesis is to create sustainable local food production in Jaroslavice region. This region is situated near the Austria – Czechia border. The political changes of previous century influenced this rural location a lot. Changes resulted in socioeconomic degradation of this area. My project tends to shorten production connections between producers and consumers. It also takes the part with local farmers and farmer´s market. My architecture proposal is a building of regional food center focused on fruit production. The main fruits are apples, apricots and pitches according to the local climate conditions. The center has three main parts – processing, storage and retail.

The goal of our projectis to „restart“ the Jaroslavice village. It was a well established settlement before the war, but has been on a downfall ever since. The problem began by eviction of german population after the war, followed by close distance to highly guarded border. This project is aiming on the possibility of living in the „ near border area and resumption of forgotten countryside. It proposes to connect old with new. The core of the project is renovation of majer near the castle. It is located on the edge of Jaroslavice and is connected to newly established part of the village. The site of the majer is becomming a connection point of history and present. Therefore, the object provides areas needed by students of newly designed high school. It includes accomodation, cafeteria and residental yard. It blends with additional areas of art centre nearby and is connected to the centre of village. Among the functions ths project provides, there is also a variable hall desired by village management.
