Integration of humanities in a specific school practice

The thesis deals with a specific case of connecting humanities (Czech language, history, geography and civics) at Pražské humanitní gymnázium. Using selected theoretical literature and a specific (auto)ethnographic probe in the named institution, it analyzes the teaching from the point of view of the school educational program and its continuity with RVP, on a more detailed level also from the point of view of the thematic plan and its implementation. The thesis also includes a description of the evaluation of this subject. The goal of the thesis is to find out if this connection is functional based on the experiences of teachers and students. An Interdisciplinary Approach to Teaching the Mammals

Diploma thesis deals with an interdisciplinary based teaching approach in biology, specifically the thematic unit of mammals. The theoretical part examines the difference between inter- and subject-specific curriculum, as well as historical perspective of the issues, not least are given options of how integrated learning can occur. In the chapter "Options of integrated curriculum" a brief characterization of the project teaching is presented and compared with the integrated teaching. The practical part deals with an experimental teaching of two classes at the upper secondary school Postupická. The effectiveness of teaching was evaluated by questionnaires and a semi-structured interview.
Integration of Natural Science Lesson and its Implementation in Secondary School

This diploma thesis deals with the integration of natural science lessons. It also deals with opinions and attitudes of 6th grade students and their parents/representatives about this type of education. First part describes history and present situation of integrated education, educational curriculums on national and school basis, subject didactics of science subjects and its didactic transformation in Czech Republic and abroad. Part of the diploma thesis forms a description of realization of integrated education on lower secondary school. There is also shown an example of educational topic with possible curriculum connection in one school grade. Second part is formed by a research which shows approach of students and their parents/representatives to integrated education. Interview method with further analysis was used for collecting results. In conclusion, results have shown that responders have very positive approach and opinions about integrated education. Integrated Curriculum and Interdisciplinary Approach in Chemistry and Biology in Czech Schools

The topic of this thesis concerns the interdisciplinary approach in teaching chemistry and biology at Czech grammar schools. Especially with two main questions: the determination of the level of integration that secondary school teachers prefer and how to promote an interdisciplinary approach at grammar schools. The following main objectives were established: find out which level of integration of science subjects is preferred by Czech teachers for secondary schools level, identify the main obstacles of implementation of integration, find out the factors which can help with the integration of knowledge, create support for interdisciplinary approach at Czech grammar schools. In order to achieve these objectives, a questionnaire survey among secondary school teachers and interviews with the academic staff of the Faculty of Science of Charles University were carried out. The results of the questionnaire survey showed that respondents prefer to preserve separate subjects with an emphasis on interdisciplinary relationships. The main restriction of integration is that similar topics in chemistry and biology are not taught in the same period, insufficient knowledge of the second subject or lack of learning materials.
