The leadership training effectiveness for the company
Mashkantseva, Karina
The bachelor thesis focuses on evaluating the Essentials of Leadership (EoL) training programme at a multinational company and proposing a ROI model using the Phillips ROI methodology. The primary objectives are twofold: (1) to measure the effectiveness of the EoL programme using the company’s current qualitative indicators , and (2) to develop a customised ROI model that evaluates the monetary benefits of the programme. To achieve these objectives, the study will employ various techniques, including descriptive statistics, contingency tables, Pearson Chi-squared tests, and trend analysis, to understand the programme's impact on employee job movement and evaluate its effectiveness. The findings will be used to develop a comprehensive ROI model that considers tangible and intangible benefits, direct and indirect costs, and ways to reduce investment while maintaining impact, providing recommendations to improve the current state of the EoL programme's evaluation method.
Human capital affects religious identity: causal evidence from Kenya
Alfonsi, L. ; Bauer, Michal ; Chytilová, Julie ; Miguel, E.
We study how human capital and economic conditions causally affect the choice of religious denomination. We utilize a longitudinal dataset monitoring the religious history of more than 5,000 Kenyans over twenty years, in tandem with a randomized experiment (deworming) that has exogenously boosted education and living standards. The main finding is that the program reduces the likelihood of membership in a Pentecostal denomination up to 20 years later when respondents are in their mid-thirties, while there is a comparable increase in membership in traditional Christian denominations. The effect is concentrated and statistically significant among a sub-group of participants who benefited most from the program in terms of increased education and income. The effects are unlikely due to increased secularization, because the program does not reduce measures of religiosity. The results help explain why the global growth of the Pentecostal movement, sometimes described a “New Reformation”, is centered in low-income communities.
Do we have too many university graduates? What lifetime earnings profiles can tell us
Hrendash, Taras ; Jurajda, Štěpán ; Münich, Daniel ; Doleželová, P. ; Mrázek, P.
Since the beginning of the 21st century, the Czech Republic has experienced dynamic growth in its university-educated workforce. This trend was initially driven by the foundation and growth of private universities in the Czech Republic in the late 1990s, followed from 2005 onwards by a substantial opening-up of public universities. The share of the population aged between 30 and 34 with higher education has more than doubled over the course of three decades. From an economic perspective, do we now have too many university graduates in the Czech Republic? The answer to this question is crucial when it comes to deciding the extent to which the state should – financially or otherwise – support future growth in the numbers of university students and graduates, and how much it should encourage citizens to pursue initial or lifelong university education. The answer is also an important factor in debates about the need to increase the currently low financial support available to university students. The study we present here provides descriptive statistics about employees’ wages and salaries, which serve as a useful basis for any discussion of this important question. We compare trends in university-educated employees’ wages and salaries for cohorts born in 1960, 1970, 1980 and 1990. The shares of university graduates in these cohorts differ substantially. Further, we observe trends in the earnings ratio for these cohorts between university- and secondary-educated employees, i.e., the percentage differences between the mean or median earnings of employees with higher education and those of employees with only secondary education.
Human capital development in the organisation
Zuna, Karel
The diploma thesis deals with the issue of human capital in the context of continuing professional education. It tries to anchor the topic in the managerial context and in mutual economic-educational relations. It is not only about the ability to effectively train and develop employees, but about the overall concept, a strategic approach that is beneficial for both the company and the employees. Human Resource Management is an interdisciplinary field in which changes are occurring and new trends are emerging that have major applications and implications for employees and managers in organizations. The issues can be theoretically anchored in the areas of human capital, managing people in the organization, continuing professional education of employees, and management by objectives. Having established the research objectives, the research problem was defined and can be expressed as follows: What is the approach of employer organizations to developing human capital through continuing education and employee development? Based on this, four research questions and two hypotheses were established. The aim of the research investigation was to analyse and describe selected corporate processes related to human capital development and management within organisations. Furthermore, to characterize the key...
Further professional education and development of the XY publishing house's call center employees
Koubek, Daniel
The diploma thesis deals with the issue of further professional education and the system of corporate education. The work is divided into two parts - theoretical and empirical. In the theoretical part, the basic terms associated with the concept of lifelong learning are defined, with an emphasis on terminology related to further professional education, employee development, human capital and career management. One of the chapters is devoted to the setting of the company education system and education strategies. In the empirical part, the identification of educational needs and the analysis of the system of corporate education of call center employees were carried out. The research was carried out at the XY publishing house in Prague. Based on the obtained data, a competence model of call center workers was designed and subsequently implemented into the employee education strategy. The investigations carried out show that the XY publishing house uses a systematic model of company education - it provides and enables employees to learn in various areas with regard to a specific profession and its qualification and competence requirements. Corporate education functions as one of the key tools of further professional education and development of employees with the aim of achieving better sales results,...

Performance management in relation to the evaluation and remuneration of employees, hodnocení pracovníků
Balšánek, Jaroslav
The thesis deals with the issue of performance management in relation to the evaluation and remuneration of employees. Performance management (performance management) is the process of ensuring that a set of work activities and outputs effectively meet the stated strategic objectives of an organisation. In this paper, the factors that influence work climate, employee motivation and performance were analyzed and identified. In the theoretical part, the background in the field of personnel activities, human capital, human resource management, professional competencies and work performance of selected groups of employees was elaborated. Emphasis was placed on defining models of employee evaluation and remuneration. Individual criteria are linked in company practice with analytical job evaluation and then compared with formal evaluation of employee performance over a certain period. On the basis of the theoretical foundations thus defined, the second part of the thesis was developed - empirical. This part describes the research carried out, which was designed as a mixed-method research, i.e. using qualitative and quantitative approaches. The research investigation was carried out in several stages. One of the phases was the analysis of foreign research studies focused on work performance and employee...
Peripheral settlements of České Budějovice district and their human and demographic capital.
PSOHLAVCOVÁ, Tereza
The bachelor thesis deals with the evaluation of human and demographic capital in peripheral and other settlements of the district of České Budějovice. Peripheral and ultra-peripheral settlements are defined on the basis of their greater remoteness by public transport from micro-regional cities. Suburban settlements are characterized by strong construction of suburban houses. Semi-peripheral settlements are the remaining settlements. Peripheral areas arise as clusters of neighboring peripheral and ultra-peripheral settlements (+ settlements without transport connections). Therefore, first necessary was to define micro-regional towns and also lower settlements (very small towns, townships, central villages, major villages and larger villages) by using four indicators of settlements centres - population, services, commuters and transport connections. Secondly, an evaluation of human and demographic capital of settlement types and peripheral areas was made on the basis of several indicators of population development, age structure, education, housing construction, unemployment, business rate and other indicators. There were defined three micro-regional towns, four very small towns, two townships and a number of other lower settlement centres in the district of České Budějovice. Large areas with peripheral and ultra-peripheral settlements (+ settlements without connections) have been created at a greater distance from micro-regional towns. There were defined 15 peripheral areas. Suburban settlements show very favorable values of human and demographic capital, while micro-regional towns and townships show little favorable values. In the naturally valuable landscape on the south of České Budějovice, peripheral areas have significantly favorable values of the monitored capitals, while some peripheral areas around Týn nad Vltavou and in the Novohradské hory Mountains have opposite values.
Peripheral settlements of the Jindřichův Hradec district and their human and demographic capital
NOVÁK, Štěpán
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to define peripheral settlements and peripheral areas of the Jindřichův Hradec district and to analyse their human and demographic capital. First, settlement centres are defined with a different hierarchy based on population size, representation of services, commuting to work and school, and the number of public transport connections on a working day. Micro-regional cities are the key settlement centres, because peripheral and ultra-peripheral settlements are defined in relation to them. The lower settlement centres are very small towns, townships, centre villages, significant and larger villages. Peripheral settlements are bounded by a half-hourly isochrone of public transport connections, ultra-peripheral settlements by an hourly isochrone. Suburban settlements have a high proportion of suburban houses, and semi-peripheral settlements lie between suburban and peripheral settlements. In addition, settlements without public transport connections are defined. Subsequently, peripheral areas consisting of peripheral and semi-peripheral settlements and settlements without public transport connections were delineated. The human and demographic capital of peripheral and other types of settlements, peripheral areas and their types was monitored using 12 indicators in the next step. The indicators analyse the population development of the settlements, their population balance, the age and education structure of the population in the settlements, and another characteristics of the settlements. The values found in the last quartiles are considered problematic. Jindřichův Hradec, Třeboň and Dačice became the micro-regional towns of the district. Within half an hour's commuting distance there are large areas with peripheral and ultra-peripheral settlements, or settlements with no connections (especially in the territory of Česká Kanada, Studensko, Dešensko, Staňkovsko and Českovelenicko), which form peripheral areas. České Velenice, Suchdol nad Lužnicí, Slavonice, Nová Včelnice, Nová Bystřice, Studená and Kardašova Řečice became very small towns. Suburban settlements around Jindřichův Hradec have the most favourable values of human and demographic capital. Peripheral settlements reach average values. The peripheral areas among the micro-regional towns of the district fared better. The peripheral areas along the Austria border fared the worst.
