Psychologic concept of guilt in the work of Karl T. Jaspers

The bachelor thesis describes the concept of guilt in the work of german psychologist and philosopher Karl T. Jaspers. The first part is dedicated to introducing Karl Jaspers as author and thinker, the second part will be elaborating on the context of his own thinking in he light of important thinkers who influenced him. The third part analyses in detail Jaspers's fundametal work The Question of German Guilt, while emphasizing moral and metaphysical guilt. The fourth part is dedicated to the issue of collective guilt and Jaspers's view of this matter and tho reactions of other authors. In the fifth part is developed the concept of conscience, which partly answers some of the questions raised in Jaspers's work. The Picture of the Divided Self in the Work of R.L. Stevenson and Bram Stoker

The thesis focuses on the theme of split personality in the works of Bram Stoker and Robert Louis Stevenson. The aim of this thesis is a comparative analysis of the novels Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by R. L. Stevenson and Dracula by Bram Stoker, with regard to the key theme of split personality. The introductory theoretical part discusses the significance of this theme in Anglo-American gothic prose, drawing mainly on Botting's study Gothic. The following chapters are devoted to a comparative interpretation of selected motifs, such as mystery, love, pursuit, desire for power, fear, violence, science and education, friendship, and love. The thesis also focuses on the function of space and the depiction of crime, guilt, and conscience in both novels. Last but not least, it addresses the significance of contrasts and symbolic images in creating psychological tension in the works of both authors. This thesis offers a psychological perspective on two famous gothic novels and their shared theme.

Dealing with the guilt of persons serving a sentence.

The diploma thesis deals with the ethical topic of guilt and its processing in persons serving a sentence. The paper elaborates with the topic of guilt on a practical and theoretical level. The theoretical framework deals with concepts related to guilt (morality, good, evil, conscience, sin), then presents the concept of guilt and the possibilities of its processing. Based on the description of the theory, the theoretical part formulates questions, which are used in the practical part. It describes three case studies of persons serving a sentence. The research is devoted to their individual perception of guilt and subsequently to ways of coping with it. Special attention is paid to Christianity and its influence on the perception of guilt, as two persons believe in God. Research shows that guilt is a fundamental issue for people in prison, whether it is in its negative or positive manifestations. The research confirms the fundamental theoretical starting point that there is a line from the negative effect of guilt to its positive contribution. As all three convicts confirm, guilt is the path to awareness, acceptance, and finally to the correction. Guilt, Purification, Forgiveness

This bachelor thesis deals with the conceptions of Guilt, Purification and Forgiveness. Based on the study of the writings of Karl Jaspers, Božena Komárková, Martin Buber and Helmut Weber, the thesis comes to an understanding of the issues of guilt, forgiveness and purification in both philosophical and theological terms. Furthermore, this work introduces other issues that relate to the chosen topic, for example, the concepts of Repentance, Penance and Conversion. Thanks to the acquired findings, I want to come to an understanding of the concept of guilt in Bernhard Schlink's novel The Reader. Work with convicted commiting sexual offence on children

This work deals with the treatment of convicts who committed sexual and violent offenses against child victims. Specifically, it focuses on the results of the implementation of the treatment program the individual participants within a standardized program for offenders sentenced for crimes of violence against children GREPP (English acronym GREPP - Re-education psychology program focused on working with wine). The majority of offenders from the beginning of his guilt and does not want to accept it conceals. From experience it implies that in the course of the program can attitudes convicted for their crimes vary. The research sample qualitative part of the study was collected in the years 2014 to 2016. It is a narrative study. It was composed of three representative case studies from among the graduates of the program in the prison GREPP Nové Sedlo The work investigates whether the participants in the program are able to specifically change their attitude and outlook on their criminal activities. Another goal is to use the findings of the work to create recommendations for convicted graduates of the program, which would be useful for further punishment. Violence, Guilt and Punishment in Selected Works of Nathaniel Hawthorne

The BA thesis explores selected writings of Nathaniel Hawthorne, who addressed in his works many themes that range from nature through difficult relationships of characters and their communities to Biblical allusions. Some of the prominent themes which can be explored in his novels (such as The Scarlet Letter, The House of the Seven Gables and Fanshawe) are the themes of violence, guilt and punishment. These chosen themes serve as topics that are treated individually in each novel. Consequently the novels are compared. The thesis first focuses on an exploration of the theme of violence, to which extent it appears in Hawthorne's novels, which characters are victims and transgressors, and where violence leads to. At the same time it explores the feeling of guilt of Hawthorne's characters, and whether guilt appears after a committed violent act, as well as the consequences that come in the form of the transgressors' punishment. Namely, I explore the relationship of Hester Prynne with Arthur Dimmesdale and Roger Chillingworth (The Scarlet Letter), the two original families of the Pyncheons and the Maules and the influence of the ancestors on their heirs (The House of the Seven Gables) and the actions of the mysterious "angler" compared to the deeds of the individuals around Harley College (Fanshawe)....

Masculine and feminine view of the Colonial War. (António Lobo Antunes and Lídia Jorge)

The present thesis, "Masculine and Feminine View of the Colonial War (António Lobo Antunes and Lídia Jorge)" concerns the peculiarity of the masculine and feminine view of the colonial war in Portuguese colonies in Africa. This thesis focuses on two world-wide known novels: Os cus de Judas by António Lobo Antunes and A costa dos murmúrios by Lídia Jorge. The aim is to reveal that the standpoint was influenced by different social status that women and men held in Salazarian Portugal and in the colonial war itself. The introductory section is devoted to a brief summary of the Portuguese history which had a major impact on the contemporary national identity. The era of the Estado Novo, the Colonial War and the Carnation Revolution was outlined. The literary situation in Portugal after the Revolution was also shortly observed. The main part began with the introduction of António Lobo Antunes & Lídia Jorge and listed out their principal writings, concentrating primarily on Os cus de Judas and A costa dos murmúrios. Afterwards the focus turns to the different position of the women and men in the colonial war, comparing how it influenced their respective lives. While Lídia Jorge observes the destructive impact of the war on its surroundings, António Lobo Antunes views the injustice on the personal basis....
