Intercultural analysis of marketing communication of CzechTourism agency aiming to recover tourism after coronavirus pandemic

This thesis examines the diversity of the CzechTourism agency's marketing communication on foreign markets, depending on the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic and cultural specifics. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with marketing in tourism and tourism market in general, then the work and structure of the CzechTourism agency is further described. That is followed by examples of how tourism was affected by the coronavirus pandemic and specific impacts on the Czech market. Communication within the marketing of destinations is generally very specific, the thesis not only describes these general specifics, but also deals with differences that appeared in connection with the coronavirus pandemic - and all of that is subsequently reflected in the research of the thesis. The last important component of the theoretical part of the thesis are intercultural specifics, which are generally demonstrated by the research of the Dutch sociologist Geert Hofstede. The general description is followed by the analysis of selected cultures - Italy, Japan, Germany and the United States of America - the conclusions of which are subsequently applied in the research. Adaptace barmských imigrantů na českou kulturu

The Diploma thesis deals with the Burmese immigrants who were granted asylum and a new home within the resettlement program in the Czech Republic. It is focused on the process of adaptation to Czech culture and the factors affecting this process. In the theoretical part, terms related to culture, adaptation and migration are defined. The institutions operating in the Czech Republic providing assistance and other services to immigrants are also discussed in the text. In the practical part the problem of adapting Burmese refugees to Czech culture is discussed on the basis of their own experience using the method of semi-structured interview as a part of a qualitative research.
Italian - Czech cultural standards in study and work enviroment and their comparison

The main focus of this thesis is on the cultural standards between the Italians and the Czechs in study and work enviroment. The aim of this thesis is to identify Czech cultural standards from the perspective of the Italians who studied or worked in the Czech Republic. For this purpose, the method of critical incidents which is based on qualitative interviews with Italian respondents was used. The thesis examines the existence of cultural differences between the Czech and Italian study and work enviroment as well a the existence of cultural differences between Italian and Czech culture, particularly in relationship between student and professor and between employee and employer. Besides the research itself, the thesis deals also with the topic of culture, importance of intercultural communication and cultural dimensions and standards. The thesis deals also with the socio - economic analysis of the Czech Republic. At the end of the thesis there are mentioned recommendations for the Italians and the Czechs to facilitate their mutual cooperation in study and work enviroment.
Verification of the Hofstede´s Dimension on the Example of Vietnamese Culture

Vietnamese are the third largest minority in the Czech Republic. Most of the inhabitants meet with its members on a daily basis. Awareness of their culture is, however, very low. The opportunity to learn more about foreign cultures is a variety of cultural researches, including the Cultural Dimension of Geert Hofstede. They were, however, created predominantly in the 1980s and 1990s. That is why this Diploma thesis aims to verify their validity and on the example of Vietnamese culture. In addition, two groups of respondents are compared - Vietnamese living in Vietnam and Vietnamese living in the Czech Republic. The aim is to verify whether a long-term stay in a foreign environment influences the culture.
Specifics of the National Mentalities in Company´s Management

Bachelor thesis deals with the specifics of Czech and Slovak mentality in the line management of Česká spořitelna, a.s. In the theoretical part, there are definitions of key words such as mentality, nation and culture, as well as Geert Hofstede´s research and his results for Czech Republic and Slovakia. The aim of the thesis is to apply its methodology for comparing the Czech and Slovak national mentality. At the end of the thesis I compare my results with his research.
Cultural Differences on Web

This diploma thesis applies the theory of cultural differences in the web environment. Several dozens of selected websites from various national cultures are evaluated and analyzed. Differences in the web design and marketing communication are studied depending on the culture. The evaluation is based on cultural models of social psychologist Geert Hofstede and anthropologist Edward T. Hall. Research sites are selected from nine cultural clusters according to the Inglehart-Welzel cultural map, based on the World Values Survey data. Other site surveyed includes the world's largem producers in the industry. The authors of this study build on and developed work of Aaron Marcus and Emilie Gould in the web design of Cross-Cultural Strategies for Web Design (Armando Calabrese et al., 2012). The objective of this diploma thesis is to analyze whether cultural differences are manifested on a selected group of websites.
Czech-Swiss trade relations

The main goal of the thesis is to analyze trade relations between the Czech republic and Switzerland. The thesis also includes analysis of the Swiss attitude towards the European union and presents cultural and trade specifics of Switzerland. The first chapter characterizes Switzerland in general and economically. The second chapter deals with bilateral relations between Switzerland and the European union. The third chapter describes trade relations between Switzerland and the Czech republic, the development of the trade balance between these two countries and possible development of their trade relations in the future. The fourth chapter is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical section is based on the concept of cultural dimensions introduced by Geert Hofstede and Gert Jan Hofstede and compares the Swiss and the Czech culture. The practical section is focused on the Czech view of business negotiations with the Swiss and contains evaluation of questionnaires that were filled in by Czech employees who cooperate with the Swiss on a daily basis.
Business and Cultural Specifics of Israel

The main aim of my bachelor thesis is to characterize economic, cultural and business aspects of Israel. The first chapter is devoted to the basic characteristics of Israel, specifically to geographic conditions, demographic data, history of immigration,religious gropus, state establishment and legal system, national emblems, practical information. The second chapter is aimed at economic characteristics of Israel, which includes an analysis of the basic macroeconomic indicators, foreign trade of Israel and the trade with the Czech Republic. The third chapter is devoted to the culture of Israel and its influence of the business negotiations. The fourth chapter is the result of the questionnaire survey and interviews with the representatioves of the Slovak and Czech companies.
Comparison of Czech-British and Slovak-British Cultural Standards at Work Environment

The diploma thesis is focused on identification and mutual comparison of Czech-British and Slovak-British cultural standards at work environment. The main goal of the thesis is to define British cultural standards from both sides, from the Czech one and the Slovak one, and then to compare, whether the information from qualitative research corresponds with theoretical assumptions. The next goal is to find out how much different is the view on this topic from the Czech and from the Slovak perspective, if it is different. At the end of the thesis will be proposed a few suggestions, how Czech and Slovak should prepare for a longer staying in the United Kingdom in order to avoid possible cultural misunderstandings.
The Intercultural Communication in the Context of the EU Cultural Policy

THE ABSTRACT The intercultural communication is an extraordinarily important topic especially within the multicultural environment of the European Union. Ph.D. work "The Intercultural Communication in the Context of the European Union Cultural Policy" is focused on a possible relation between intercultural communication and policymaking and realization of the EU cultural policy. Based on studied scholarly literature, other materials and considering previous author's expert experience a basic hypothesis was drawn up - despite all proclamation of the EU the intercultural communication is significantly underestimated. This basic premise was especially because of further surveying divided into a few fractional hypotheses. The aim of the thesis was to empirically verify the assumption formulated above. This dissertation work therefore analyzes the intercultural communication's theory, the history and the present of the EU cultural policy and the EU key institutions responsible for cultural policymaking. The work provides an overview of basic communication characteristics of the EU member states and their cultural categorization.
