Competitiveness and Enviromental Protection in the EU

The bachelor thesis examines the impact of the EU environmental policy on the competitiveness in the region. Environmental measures are assesed in the context of macroeconomic competitiveness focusing on climate policy. The theoretical concept of competitiveness and EU climate policy is introduced and their interconnection evaluated. This is applied on the European emission trading system and partially on the situation in the Czech republic. As the direct relationship between environmental policy and competitiveness has not been proved, the empirical studies offer no consensus on potential nor real impacts of the European emission trading system on the EU competitiveness.

Impact of The Ecological Taxes on Public Budgets and Consumption of Taxed Products in The Czech Republic

This master thesis deals with the influence of installation of ecological taxes upon public budgets. The aim is to review, whether collecting of ecological taxes caused reduction of consumption of the taxed fuel and energy. The comparative method is used here to compare the budget and the real payment of the ecological taxes in 2008 and 2009 in the Czech republic. The well-arranged tables and graphs show the comparison of the consumption of the fuel and energy since 2005 to 2009. The result of the research shows, that the collecting of the ecological taxes did not reach the expected amount, so the planned budget was not filled up. The consumption of the fuel and the energy in 2008 and 2009 decreased as expected, but it is impossible to appoint safely, whether the decrease was caused by the implementation of the ecological taxes to the czech legislature.

The main aim of this bachelor thesis, "Environmental Friendly Behavior Tools of a Municipality", is to present a summary of environmental policy instruments with the possibility of application on a community level and to valorise a real situation in a community Český Rudolec. The theoretical, methodological part is focused on the environmental policy and on the summary of its instruments. The practical part analyses activities applied by the community in the frame of its environmental policy and seeks for prospective recommendations for a better utilisation.

Low-energy houses in Czech Republic

The main goal of the thesis is building up low-energy houses in the Czech Republic, especially family houses. In my thesis, I describe the history of low-energy development in the Czech Republic, a possible future and some foreign experience. I compare the standard version of development, which is demanded by Czech laws, with the low-energy version by means of SWOT and financial analysis. I try to define a life cycle assessment of a building, its environmental impact during its construction and usage by means of LCA method. Based on the findings of LCA method I would like to draw attention to the necessity to focus more on the low-energy development. The results of financial analysis shows that it is necessary to implement some instruments of environmental policy in order to support the low-energy development and project, such as tax preferences for low-energy development etc.

Laundry detergents and its environmental impact

This bachelor thesis is aimed at an environmental policy tools application on the international distributors and manufacturers of the laundry detergents for household use operations. It adverts to not only an importance of an individual company environmental policy creation but especially adverts to a supra-national company connection with the initiatives in the field of sustainable development of the detergent industry. There is a concrete example of a transnational company and its participation in a voluntary initiatives within the Czech republic depicted in this thesis, as well as its participation in the sustainability projects on an international degree. Also effects and impacts of these environmental projects mentioned above are included, concretely the environmental impact, the impact on consumers as a general public and the impact on the company as a participant of a project.

Analýza efektivnosti kombinované výroby elektřiny a tepla

Předložená bakalářská práce se zabývá analýzou efektivnosti kombinované výroby elektřiny a tepla. Pro komplexní pohled na problematiku výroby energií je zařazeno využívání obnovitelných zdrojů v energetice. Hlavním cílem práce je zanalyzovat ekonomickou a environmentální efektivnost kombinované výroby elektřiny. Při analýze jsou vzaty v úvahu národohospodářské aspekty.Vlastní analýza byla realizována na případové studii vyhodnocení investičního záměru společnosti Ško- Energo, s. r. o. a na porovnání kombinované výroby, výroby elektřiny v elektrárně a výroby tepla ve výtopně používající jako palivo zemní plyn. Environmentální efektivnost je hodnocena dle změny energetických vstupů a emisních výstupů.

Renewable energy sources

Ústředním tématem práce je problematika obnovitelných zdrojů energie z hlediska ekonomické srovnatelnosti se zdroji konvenčními. V první části pojednáváme o environmentální politice se zaměřením na regulační rámec energetického sektoru v prostředí České republiky. Dále popisujeme hlavní způsoby získávání energie z obnovitelných zdrojů (přeměna biomasy, solární ohřev vody, větrné elektrárny, fotovoltaická přeměna, geotermální systémy a energie vody). Těžištěm práce je případová studie, ve které testujeme hypotézu ekonomické neekvivalence na realizovaném projektu geotermálního čerpadla.

Zavádění systému environmentálního managementu v podniku Kanalizace a vodovody Starý Plzenec, a. s.

Systémy environmentálního managementu (EMS), uplatňované způsoby jejich zavádění a zhodnocení jejich přínosů pro podnik a pro životní prostředí. Charakteristika systému environmentálního managementu zavedeného podle norem ISO řady 14000, popis procesu zavádění, certifikace a následného neustálého zlepšování. Vymezení úkolů managementu v procesu zavádění a při provozu zavedeného systému, v rámci podniku a vůči veškerým dotčeným subjektům. Konkrétní aplikace systému environmentálního managementu dle ČSN EN ISO 14001 v podniku Kanalizace a vodovody Starý Plzenec, a.s. Detailní popis procesu zavádění systému v podniku, jeho dokumentace, vyhodnocení nákladů na zavedení systému a jeho přínosů. Doporučení možných zlepšení.

Ecolabelling - tržně orientovaný nástroj

Seznámení se dvěma systémy environmentálního značení v ČR (Ekologicky šetrné výrobky a Produkty ekologického zemědělství) a jejich vzájemné srovnání. Výsledky průzkumu provedeného mezi spotřebiteli o jejich informovanosti ohledně těchto značení. Několik návrhů vhodných pro větší rozvoj trhu s Ekologicky šetrnými výrobky.
