Distribution of heavy metals in waste incinerator
Poláková, Annamária ; Brummer, Vladimír (referee) ; Jecha, David (advisor)
The main scope of thesis is to describe the pollutant removal techniques with a focus on heavy metals. With that relate chapters describing the formation of pollutants and their effect on human health. The thesis focuses on a detailed description of flue gas cleaning technology and its evaluation. Evaluation is shown in tables comparing emission measurement on waste incineration plant SAKO Brno, a.s. with emission limits. The thesis also briefly describes other options for municipal waste management.
Electromagnetic field scanner and its utilization in EMC measurement
Chupáč, Michal ; Číž, Radim (referee) ; Kubánek, David (advisor)
Master’s thesis is focused on making the acquaintance of EMC issues and ways of electromagnetic field scanner RS321 utilization for pre-compliance measurements. First part contains analysis of available equipment’s influence on measurement results on the basis of gathered specification. Next part includes an example measurement used as operational manual for scanner and its controlling program. The most important part is correction evaluation for performed EMI measurement of signal generator using its EMC certification protocol and application of gained correction curve on independent EMI measurement of device tested by EMC testing laboratory. Other possibilities of scanner utilization are mentioned in the next chapters. Last part of the thesis contains suitability evaluation of EMC scanner on the basis of findings from performed measurements.
Catalytic oxidation of VOC on commercially available catalysts
Osička, Tomáš ; Jecha, David (referee) ; Brummer, Vladimír (advisor)
The main topic of this thesis is a catalytic oxidation which belongs to a group of modern technologies for removing emission of CO and VOC from waste air. In the introduction of this thesis, the basic concepts are defined. Further the legislative requirements associated with VOC emissions, emission limits and conditions are summarized. Described destructive and non-destructive methods for removing VOCs from waste gases are also briefly described. Increased attention is paid to the catalytic oxidation as the main theme of the thesis. It was searched for industrial applications where the catalytic oxidation is used. Another chapter is devoted to the theoretical analysis of kinetics of catalytic oxidation reactions. Firstly, the basic types of reactors are described and also material balance and reaction rate for the isothermal and adiabatic reactor. In the experimental part results of performed kinetic measurements on a pilot unit for catalytic commonly used organic solvents (VOCs) using commercially available catalysts were summarized. Pre-exponential factors and activation energies for sprinkling catalysts EnviCat VOC-5565 and EnviCat 55068 for substances ethanol, toluene and acetone were determined. "Light-off" curves for these substances and methane were measured and on sprinkled catalyst EnviCat 55068 and on monolithic catalyst Purelyst PH-304.
Impact of Wood Moisture on Gas Emissions Production
Kantor, Tomáš ; Brázdil, Marian (referee) ; Lisý, Martin (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with effect of wood moisture on production of gaseous emissions. Theoretical part is composed by background research dealing with a concept of biomass as a solid fuel and biomass combustion. In practical part, the combustion tests in a fireplace inlay are performed for wood of different moisture content. In conclusion, results are compared with valid emission limits and legislation.
Current trends of reduction NOx in the context with the prepared legislation
Růžička, Pavel ; Brummer, Vladimír (referee) ; Jecha, David (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with processes of generating and methods of abating nitrogen oxides contained in flue gases in the context of Czech and European legistation. It compares the new enviromental act with its predecessor and scetches the pull of the new emission limits on stationary sources of air pollution. With particular focus on NO and NO2, the summary of NOx compounds hands a brief review of every individual one, which amongst other matters includes their impact on public and enviromental health. In the next part the paper aims at primary and secondary measures of NOx reduction together with factors influencing their utilization. Last chapter inquires into methods of selective catalytic and non-catalytic reduction and means of thier engagement in industry.
Optimization of Combined Sewer Overflow at combined sewerage network
Pipa, Jan ; Ing. Vladimír Oppelt. (referee) ; Hlavínek, Petr (advisor)
This study discusses the design of sewer overflow chambers in a combined sewerage system. In the first part of this thesis, I investigate the utility of sewer overflow chambers in relation to the protection of the recipient. In the second half, I present a case study in the modelling of an sewer overflow chamber in a sewer network at a concrete location.
Purification of flue-gas desulfurization
Křesťan, Jan ; Špiláček, Michal (referee) ; Hrnčířová, Michaela (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is theoretical elaboration of flue-gas desulfurization and emission limits of sulphur dioxide. Thesis is divided into three parts. First part is about content of sulphur in fuel, formation of sulphur oxides and their influence on human health and environment. Second part is dedicated to sources of sulphur dioxide, present emission situation in the Czech Republic and emission limits of sulphur dioxide. The third part describes methods how to reduce emissions of sulphur dioxide, especially methods of flue-gas desulfurization. The thesis is based on technical texts, Czech laws about air pollution and data from the Czech hydrometeorological institute.
Effects of decreasing water requirements at wastewater treatment plant
Benešová, Irena ; Raček, Jakub (referee) ; Hluštík, Petr (advisor)
Bachelard thesis si aimed on impact and consequences of decreasing water consumption on wastewater treatment plant. The thesis concerns with water consumption in the Czech republic and generally in the world, while particular attention is payed to the hygienic minimum of water supplies to citizens; the causes of decrease of water consumption and its consequent impacts on wastewater treatment plant are mentioned, and further is discussed design of both present and new wastewater treatment plants. The thesis compares different existing approaches to indicate the specific need of water for technological objects of wastewater treatment plants. Part of the thesis was survey on water consumption, possibilities of water savings, and recyclation of grey water. The overlarge objects of wastewater treatment plant are the result of decreasing water consumption.
Přínos elektricky poháněných osobních automobilů pro snížení emisí oxidu uhličitého ve městech
VOTRUBA, Michaela Hana
Master's thesis deals with the issue of air pollution, to which automobile transport contri- butes extensively. Poor air quality has adverse effects on the health of every human being on Earth, so it is important to work constantly to reduce the emission footprint we leave behind. It is road transport that has a lot of room for improvement. The aim of thesis was to calculate the amount of CO2 produced by passenger cars on a selected section of the road in České Budějovice. And then calculate the amount of CO2, which would leave the same number of electric cars in the same driving section.
Emission limits as a legal instrument for the environmental protection
Mísař, Tomáš ; Sobotka, Michal (advisor) ; Žákovská, Karolina (referee)
1 ABSTRACT This diploma thesis deals with comprehensive analysis of emission limits which is one of the most important instruments of environment protection. The purpose of this diploma thesis is description and analysis of emission limits in protection of fundamental environmental compartments and in some cases also demonstration of its functioning on practical examples. The text of this diploma thesis is divided into six chapters. Firstly, this thesis provides a general characteristic of fundamental concepts, which creates a basis for all following parts of this diploma thesis. Further follows three chapters devoted to in detail description and analysis of emission limits in certain environmental compartment, whereas firstly there is always introduced its past and present progress. Further follows international, EU and national sources of law with evaluation. These two parts are followed by the third part which deals with in detail analysis of specifics and process of determination of emission limits values and eventually monitoring and evaluation of pollutants levels released by polluter. In conclusion of all these three chapters there is comprehensively summarized partial problematics and author's considerations about possible shortcomings in areas of achievable improvement. Last sixth chapter is...
