Gmont Cable Brno
Hendrychová, Adriana ; Mikeš, Stanislav (referee) ; Nový, Alois (advisor)
The subject of this work was the preparation of project documentation, consisting of documentation for building permits, documentation for the implementation of the construction and the design of architectural detail. The Bachelor's thesis is based on an architectural study prepared as part of the studio work of the subject AG035. The subject of the design is the new construction of the production hall of the company Gmont Cable, s.r.o., specializing in the production and assembly of cable bundles, cables and wires. The existing leasable space does not suit the expanding company. The new premises will enable the production to be moved from the existing premises and thus allow an increase in production. The proposed facility is to be located in Brno in Tuřanka Street on the site of the current brownfield site. When designing the building, emphasis was placed on the use of the narrowest part of the brownfield, not only for the possibility of future use of the remaining part of the land, but especially for the presentation and visibility of the building and the company from the main road. The ground plan of the shape of he building is based on the boundaries of the brownfield site. Essential for the expression of the building are the sawtooth roofs over the production halls complemented by a walkable green roof. The pilasters are a distinctive feature of the administration area, providing articulation and screening of the glazed areas. In terms of function, the building is divided into a two-storey administration and a single-storey production part with storage and dispatching. Between the administrative and the production part there is an atrium serving as a resting place for the workers. The proposal addresses both the stand-alone building and the connection to the adjacent surroundings.
Architecture in the era of housing crisis
Hobzová, Petra ; Jourová, Drahoslava (referee) ; Kratochvíl, Jan (advisor)
My diploma thesis is based on a pre-diploma project with the same name, namely "Architecture in the Time of the Housing Crisis." In the theoretical part, together with two female classmates, we analyzed the development of housing from the industrial revolution to current housing trends around the world within the framework of different time sectors. The result is a detailed analysis of topics that, in our opinion, are connected to the housing crisis, whether it is a historical or a current one. We also analyzed the current principles of participatory housing, which can be a suitable path for the Czech Republic to more affordable housing within various social groups. I myself was interested in the approach of the city of Brno and its pilot project of affordable cooperative housing. Cooperative housing is an advantageous combination of ownership and rental housing. This is mainly a very good solution for young families who cannot afford a mortgage due to a lack of funds. Funds for the construction of the apartment are provided by the cooperative, the tenant - member of the cooperative makes an initial membership deposit and the rest of the share is paid in the form of rent. A cooperative member rents an apartment from the cooperative, and after paying off the loan, the apartment becomes his property. I design commercial areas and common areas as part of houses, usually on the ground floor of houses. The four- and five-story apartment buildings have shared roof terraces. Residents of all apartment buildings share common gardens where they grow their own vegetables and plants. Together, they also take care of operation and maintenance, when shared spaces can be rented out for other temporary use. Commercial premises procure a regular financial contribution for the cooperative, which gradually repays the construction loan. As part of my diploma thesis, I decided to create an apartment complex in the countryside, as a comfortable multi-generational living, which will meet the standards of the present time. The advantage of this location is the close accessibility to the center of Brno in connection with public transport. For my solution, I chose the abandoned site of Kohn's brickyard on Červené kopci. Currently, there is a brownfield and a large horticulture colony.
Na Bělisku Restaurant
Grunwaldová, Veronika ; Mašek, Radomír (referee) ; Marek, Jiří (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the design of a restaurant. It will be possible to rent the living spaces of the pavilion for social, family or cultural events, such as lectures, chamber concerts and exhibitions. The restaurant is designed in the former textile area, which is located between Mlýnská Street and Bělisko Street. The location of the area is on the outskirts of the town of Ústí nad Orlicí. The national cycle route runs nearby, while the Tichá Orlice flows here, to which the Orlice Nature Park adjoins. In the first phase, the specifics of the site are analyzed and an urban solution was developed. In the second phase of the thesis, the object of the restaurant was dealt with, which is processed in a more detailed scale of the documentation. The thesis serves as a vision for the restoration of the former textile area.
Various Options
Vazačová, Anna ; Holcnerová, Lenka (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
Many materials and things are marked as waste and under this marking their further use is perceived negatively. However, these are often materials and products that can be easily reused without much energy in the same or completely new ways. Locality is used as a tool for discovering new possibilities for the city and rediscovering the way of building based directly on the surrounding environment. The concept develops the reuse and recycling of things and materials not only in the objects and architecture themselves, but also in the content and function and way of thinking of the city's inhabitants. The work elaborates the idea of how to build locally in a contemporary city. It is a kind of practical manual on how to start thinking about a given place as a used one. It is also a practical guide on how to think about local city buildings. The theoretical basis from historical to contemporary local architecture is a free addition to this project.
The Use of Brownfield Sites in the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom
DVOŘÁKOVÁ, Adriana
This bachelor thesis deals with the successful revitalization of unused and abandoned buildings that are no longer able to perform their original use, called brownfields. The main aim of the thesis is to compare the position of the countries in dealing with brownfield issues between the Czech Republic and the UK. Further-more, according to the findings, to suggest improvements in the issue for the Czech Republic. The Czech revi-talised brownfield Dolní Oblast Vítkovice in Ostrava and the English The Royal Albert Dock in Liverpool were selected as examples of successful revitalisations in the countries. From the sources elaborated in the bachelor thesis, the difference in approaches to the problem between the countries is evident. The UK is doing much better on brownfield issues than the Czech Republic. The biggest reason is gaining experience and maintaining or strengthening its strengths in dealing with the issue. Since the 1970s, when the UK was one of the first coun-tries to address the issue and find a suitable solution. Although the Czech Republic has been dealing with brownfields since the 1990s, it has only taken a more active approach since 2000. This delay has caused the Czech Republic to lag behind other EU countries and a prevalence of weaknesses in dealing with brownfields. The solution for improvement would be for the Czech Republic to try to neutralise or strengthen the failings. This would help to address the problem more effectively.
CARBON Visitor Center
Murínová, Zuzana ; Chuděj, Tomáš (referee) ; Marek, Jiří (advisor)
The theme of the design of the visitor center is linked to the developed project for the transformation of an inactive coal mine called "CÉRKA" by the studio Kamil Mrva Architects. The project was developed for the given location and has the task of opening up a long-term publicly inaccessible zone of a state-owned enterprise and transforming it into a lively place. The bachelor's thesis deals with the design of a visitor center located in the heart of the area of the former mine. The result of my proposal is a three-story free-standing building set into the slope directly under the biggest symbol of the entire area, under the mining towers. The intention of the visitor center is not only to attract tourists, but also to create a new space for the cultural enjoyment of the inhabitants of the village and to broaden people's horizons on the topic of decarbonization.

Možnosti využití a regenerace brownfieldu na území obce Brněnec
Kozáková, Kateřina
The bachelor thesis deals with the brownfield of former textile factory Vitka Brněnec a.s. and its effect on spatial development of Brněnec. Czech and foreign studies focused on brownfields are evaluated in the literature search. In the practical part, there is an analysis of the project "Památník obětí válečného bezpráví". The local autonomy wants to situate the memorial in the part of brownfield, where a nazi concentration camp was located between 1944 and 1945. Within the qualitative search, there were made interviews with stakeholders participating on the brownfield regeneration. Respondents identify causes of brownfield formation, problems concerning the brownfield and options of its regeneration. The thesis is concluded by recommendations which should be useful in practice.
