Restoration of limestone in Grygov
Varga, Peter ; Mikeš, Stanislav (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor) ; Šuhajda, Karel (advisor)
The topic of the bachelor thesis is the restoration of former limestone in the village of Grygov. The document is based on an architectural study prepared within the subject AG034 Studio of Architectural Creation – Restoration of Monuments. The limestone building is located southeast of the built-up part of the village Grygov in connection with a significant landscape phenomenon of limestone quarries. Restoration is solved as a conversion, when the building is changed its original function. At the same time, it is a modernization of the building with an emphasis on preserving its original character. The intention was to convert the industrial building and industrial spaces into a multi-purpose cultural centre. The concept of restoration is to preserve the unique areas of the limestone factory, searching for a connection between the industrial character of the limestone factory from the 19th century and new, modern constructions. The object was approached by the principle of preserving what is valuable and replaceable or cancelling non-renewable parts. The proposed changes do not disturb the overall architectural character and appearance of the existing building. Dispositional changes are proposed by resolving the disposition of the limestone factory to the multifunctional centre. Unique spaces and structures will be preserved, namely an oval furnace, a walkway, a wooden ceiling, a perimeter wall made of quarry stone, a chimney and the eastern part of the roof. The building on the northwest side is in a demolished condition due to a collapsed roof structure. The spaces on the 1st floor are functionally divided into three parts. Exhibition, multifunctional spaces, sanitary and technical equipment, small restaurant with bar. The spaces on the 2nd floor are divided into two parts. A large hall, which is connected by a staircase to the ground floor. The attic space of the 2nd floor is divided by the chimney.

The topic of my bachelor thesis was to prepare a documentation for the building permit and in part C a documentation for the construction. The documentation is based on an architectural study from the course “AG034 – Monument Restauration Studio”. The topic of the course was to think and to suggest a solution for the restauration of the former lime works building in Grygov that had lost its original use. Now it is falling into disrepair. Fortunately, the association “Za živou vápenku” is trying to bring the object back to life. After analysing the external influences, the needs of the inhabitants of Grygov, the requirements of the association and after preliminary construction-technical survey, I came to the following concept. If I kept the industrial character and especially the Genius loci of the building, the operational costs would be too high and, in the future, it would probably start to decay again. As a suitable solution, I suggest creating a multifunctional object. It will be used to the full in the summer and only occasionally in the winter. It means that the interior of the building will be divided into two parts: fully heated and locally tempered. This way will also help to sensitively solve humidity in the building by the method of ventilated air gaps. The multifunctional building will include exhibition spaces, a multifunctional hall and other multifunctional rooms, small refreshments in the bistro, distillery and sufficient hygienic facilities. A special innovation will be the conversion of the chimney into a lookout tower. In spirit of pluralism, I examine the quality, monumental values, individual layers and elements for suitable methods of restoration. Then I highlight the best of all the examined parts and bring them closer to future visitors. The experience of this industrial space will lie in being itself. This object will get ambition to become new place where people will meet and its existence will be there for future generations.

Image segmentation is a fundamental part in low level computer vision processing. It has an essential influence on the subsequent higher level visual scene interpretation for a wide range of applications. Unsupervised image segmentation is an ill-defined problem and thus cannot be optimally solved in general. Several novel unsupervised multispectral image segmentation methods based on the underlaying random field texture models (GMRF, 2D/3D CAR) were developed. These segmenters use efficient data representations that allow an analytical solutions and thus the segmentation algorithm is much faster in comparison to methods based on MCMC. All segmenters were extensively compared with the alternative state- of-the-art segmenters with very good results. The MW3AR segmenter scored as one of the best available. The cluster validation problem was solved by a modified EM algorithm. Two multiple resolution segmenters were designed as a combination of a set of single segmenters. To tackle a realistic variable lighting in images, the illumination invariant features were derived and the illumination invariant segmenter was developed. For the proper evaluation of segmentation results and ranking of algorithms, a unique web-based texture segmentation benchmark was proposed and implemented. It was used for comprehensive...
Reconstruction of a cultural house in Zlobice
Sarvašová, Anna ; Mikeš, Stanislav (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor) ; Šuhajda, Karel (advisor)
The main goal of this work is the restoration of the house of culture in the village Zlobice. The work aims to sensitively and appropriately approach a historic building dating from the 20s of the last century, which is designed in a traditionalist style. The expression of the building provides the existence of many interesting details and authentic elements that are the subject of monumental restoration. In the 1990s, the most fundamental building changes were made, such as: a change in the window openings of the north-west facade, the construction of a new extension, which, however, does not correspond to the expression of the historical structure. The subject of the assignment is the restoration of an unused building of a former house of culture and its subsequent completion with new structures with various functions. The most significant change is the already mentioned completion of the residential space, a building that serves as a new municipal office, technical facilities and sanitary facilities. This intervention closes the courtyard and completes the space of the human scale. Part of the work was also an urban solution called the "picnic area", which is adjacent to the house of culture and is used for social events.
Reconstruction of a cultural house in Zlobice

The subject of the bachelor thesis is the reconstruction, with an emphasis on preserving its original character, of a former inn in the village of Zlobice in the Kroměříž region. The project is based on the subject AG034 - Studio of Architectural Design IV. - Restoration of Monuments. The cultural house was built in the 1920s. Originally it had only the 1st floor and served as a local inn. Later, the building was rebuilt into a two-storey social house. At the turn of the 20th and 21st century, a part with social facilities and an apartment for the housekeeper was added to the building. During this period, the 2nd floor was also rebuilt and three apartments were built here, one of which is original and in very good condition. Most of the window and door panels are preserved in the house. They are also preserved and are valuable floors made of concrete tiles and terrazzo. The extension, which was added to the building in the 1990s, is disruptive and suitable for a complete reconstruction. The aim of the proposal is to renovate the existing cultural house, which is supplemented by an extension in which the technical background of the municipality and the new building of the municipal office are located. Furthermore, the picnic area, which is rebuilt into a place suitable for feasts and other social events. Emphasis was placed on the best possible use of the land, the completion of the courtyard according to the structure of the village and the logical arrangement of individual operations. The forecourt of the social house could serve as a village square, as the municipality currently lacks this public space. The idea was to sensitively restore the historic part of the building, which houses a ballroom, a hall, a bar with facilities, a multi-purpose room, a talking room and the second floor of this building consists of two apartments. Part of the extension and the building of the municipal office is set into the slope, which enabled the use of a green counter roof i
Reconstruction of Medov court Hermanuv Mestec
Grünwald, Jakub ; Mikeš, Stanislav (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor) ; Kalousek, Lubor (advisor)
The subject of the bachelor's thesis is to draw up the project documentation for the building permit and also to make parts of the documentation for the execution of the construction. The project proceeds from the architectonic study which was worked out during the summer semester in 2019 in pursuance of the subject AG035 Architectural design studio V.- Monument restoration. The main topic of the study is an overall reconstruction of the homestead and finding a new functional use of the listed building. The assigned parcel of land is situated in the Masaryk's square in Heřmanův Městec. The building historical research states a proof of the existence of the homestead already in 1591. The complicated constructional history of the object is in accordance with its function to provide a farming, dwelling and administrative base for the adjoining, aristocratic mansion. Towards the end of the 18 century this building went through the classicism transformation which has been defining its external appearance up to now. These days the building is mostly used as accommodation for a socially lower class which resulted in the deterioration of its technical state. This piteous situation more and more endangers the protected values of the listed building. The primary aim was to find the right concept with respect to the functional use of the solved object. The whole effort was aimed to create such a functional content which would breath life to the Medov's homestead and will open its door to the inhabitants as well as visitors. In the object there are situated premises that will not directly endanger or degrade the listed building by any their activities. These premises will make a maximal use of the homestead possible in the course of all day. Last but not least I also put an emphasis on the economic aspect of the building by placing restaurants, small shops and an administrative center in order to generate a certain financial benefit for the town.
