Czech Catholic poets in the lessons of literature at high schools
Dolejší, Pavel ; Klumparová, Štěpánka (advisor) ; Hník, Ondřej (referee)
The purpose of this thesis is to examine methods, forms, and processes for presenting the lives and work of the Czech catholic poets Jan Zahradníček, Bohuslav Reynek, and Josef Kostohryz during high-school literature lessons. Furthermore, the objective is to propose ways of introducing the young generation of readers to catholic poetry as a source of existentialist questions pertaining to life and existence, deep personal experiences, and spirituality regardless of their individual religious beliefs and preferences. Since this thesis is primarily intended to serve as a tool for high-school teachers, the text contains an extensive section that describes the general aspects of the proposed didactic approach, where the aim is to facilitate orientation in the proposed concept on the one hand, and, on the other hand, to define the foregoing aspects because they constitute the basis of the concept. The concept chosen as a means for achieving the objectives of the thesis is based on the principles, teaching methods, and forms of innovative learning. Innovative learning is based on the constructivist model and on an approach to teaching literature that is based on readership, interpretation, and creativity, where focus concentrates on the active and independent work of students, receptive and productive...

Jarolímková, Klára ; Lahoda, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Rakušanová, Marie (referee)
This thesis is concerned with the motif of Pietà in the painting and graphic by the Czech and Czech-German artists in the first half of the twentieth century. It explores the inpirations and influences of the religiously oriented pieces of this set of painters. At the beginning there is summarized the evolution of the iconographic motif of Pietà which was isolated from the motifs of the Lamentation of Christ and the Descent from the Cross. The thesis has two parts. First one focuses on the Czech artists and the second one on the Czech-German artists belonging to the Czech artistic scene in this period. The chapters are named after the intellectual basis and the similarity of expression of the included artists. In the early 20th century Rudolf Adámek was occupied by the motif of Pietà in the association with the contemporary symbolism. Karel Holý shifted the meaning of Pietà to the formulation of the hard human deal as well as František Tichý in his compositions od the Good Samaritan quite similar to the wooden gothic statues of Pietà. The existentialist ideas appeared in the work of Jan Autengruber. Vojtěch Tittelbach mixed the existentialist anxiety with the joyful circus performances. The theme of Pietà became actual in the wartime. Karel Černý responded with several paintings of Weepers with...

Motives of fire and blood in Bohuslav Reynek's Thirsts and in Pierre Jean Jouve's Les Noces
Raušerová, Andrea ; Vojvodík, Josef (advisor) ; Hrdlička, Josef (referee)
AN ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE This diploma thesis regards poems of Bohuslav Reynek and Pierre Jean Jouve with a prism of fire and blood motives. The analysis is focused on their early works, i.e. on Bohuslav Reynek's Thirsts and Pierre Jean Jouve's Les Noces. The diploma thesis is divided into two parts, the theoretical and the practical ones. The theoretical part gives the view into problematics of blood and fire motives. It is encouraged with several theories, such as literary (Bachelard), psychoanalytic (Jung) and theological (Spidlik). The second chapter of theoretical part sums up already existing perception of the analysed texts, with the main focal point on the motives. This aim fulfils either Med's and Putna's interpretations of Reynek or Pic's and Kelly's interpretations of Jouve. The main part of the diploma thesis is then seen in the analysis of motives itself. The author of the diploma thesis searches for different representations of these motives, e.g. flaming tongues of fire (the symbol of the Holy Spirit), a pierced heart of Jesus Christ and Virgin Mary equally as their mixing, such as flaming heart, bloody sun etc. In the results of this diploma thesis there is summarised the analysis of these topoi - fire and blood and their different realisations in each work of the poets. Their attitude...
Poetic experience of Vysočina
Veselá, Anna ; Brožová, Věra (advisor) ; Mocná, Dagmar (referee)
A number of renown poets and writers were born in the Czech Vysocina area and continued to return there throughout their lives. This thesis aims to compare the works of four Czech poets which feature reflections of the Vysocina region. In his collection of poems "Greetings to the sun", Jan Zahradnicek focuses on the sun as it shines upon the region and assists local inhabitants in their work. In his lyrical prose "I shall return there..." Frantisek Halas reveals incredible nature scenery as he introduces seasonal changes in the region. In Bohuslav Reynek's collection of works named "The sawing of loneliness" the region becomes the setting of the poet's conversation with God. In his collection of works titled "Springs opening" Miloslav Bures portrayed the annual tradition which every year renewed man's relationship with life giving nature.

Georg Trakl's Poetry in Czech Translations
Jůzová, Tereza ; Tvrdík, Milan (advisor) ; Svoboda, Tomáš (referee)
Tereza Jůzová's thesis Georg Trakl's Poetry in Czech Translations tries to discover which specific expression this Austrian poet takes in three Czech versions created by Bohuslav Reynek (1917, 1924), Ludvík Kundera (1965) and Radek Malý (2005) - three translators belonging to three different generations. The first chapter is devoted to Trakl and his work, ranked in the social and literary context. The second chapter presents the translators and their achievements, summarizes the period reception, and gives a brief overview of the poet's influence on original Czech literature. The focus of the thesis is the third chapter - translation analysis of six selected poems transposed to Czech. It is theoretically based on the translation shifts theory of Anton Popovič and on the method of translation analysis developed by Jiří Levý. It turns out that each of the original translators handled the original in their own way and accentuated different aspects of Trakl's work. Reynek colours the words by kind and gentle expression and his translation is the most peculiar. Kundera and Malý approached Trakl's plain style, Kundera, however, does not hesitate to underline some poetic passages. Malý intentionally reproduces the frequent ambiguity of the poet's formulations, which his predecessors insufficiently took...
