Living in Old Brno - architecture and urban study

The aim of this thesis is to find new forms of housing for socially excluded inhabitants of the Czech Republic. The proposed set of two buildings is located in the street Kopečná in the district of Staré Brno. The buildings are placed in the immediate vicinity and their functions are independent of each other. The first building provides both acute and long-term assistance and temporary accommodation for homeless people. Inside this building is a low threshold day centre, night shelter and sheltered housing. There is a hierarchy of different levels of sheltered housing created by specific dispositions, which cover the wide diversity of needs of the target group. The second object is a residential building providing accommodation in the concept of "housing first" ("housing first"). Inside the building there are sheltered workshops (cafe, bakery and bicycle repair shop) provides the employability skills and social flats serves as a pre independent living.
Homelessness and dying

The diploma thesis presents the personal experience of homeless people who have had someone close to them die while living on the streets. It introduces us to their ways of living on the streets, their relationship with their loved ones and the circumstances of their deaths. It reflects on what changed in their lives after the death of their loved one and whether their loved ones had the opportunity to mend their relationships, put things in order and fulfil their wishes before their death. The theoretical part defines basic concepts related to homelessness and concepts related to dying. The practical part contains transcripts of interviews with homeless people who have been in this situation. The final part analyses the interviews. It summarizes that homeless people did not have the opportunity to arrange their affairs before they died, due to the fact that their deaths were quick and unexpected. Their social situation prevented them from doing so and they were not aware of any available services. Interviews show that they expressed a wish to meet their loved ones and try to mend relations with them, which they did not manage to do. Ethical dilemmas of a social care assistant at work for homeless people

The diploma thesis deals with ethics in social work, specifically in the social rehabilitation service, which helps people on the edge of society endangered by the social exclusion. In the theoretical part we can find a brief description of the problematics of homelessness and services helping this target group, followed by description of importance of ethics in the social work. In the next part is this thesis dedicated to outputs evaluated on the basis of in-depth semi-structured dialogues, being held with workers of specific institution. The reader can get to know the most frequent ethical dilemmas of workers, at their work with clients. One of those dilemmas was chosen for an analysis and it was analysed using utilitarism and deontology

The bachelor thesis focuses on the issue of homelessness. The aim of the thesis is to map the current situation and identify the causes of homelessness in České Budějovice. This topic is examined from the perspective of the homeless and the organizations dedicated to this issue in the city. The theoretical part of the thesis is divided into two sections. The first section outlines the genesis of homelessness from its first occurrence to the current state in the present day world. The second section of the theoretical part focuses on a general description of homelessness and the services involved in addressing this problem. A qualitative approach was chosen for the research section, and data was obtained through a semi-structured interview technique with social workers from 5 helping organizations and a total of 6 homeless individuals. The research results closely mapped the current situation and causes of homelessness in České Budějovice. The study provides a comprehensive view of the issue of homelessness and allows for an understanding of how organizations perceive this phenomenon and how they improve the quality of life for these individuals. This bachelor thesis can improve awareness of this issue and support discussions on potential solutions. Analyzing this social problem can help workers in institutions and organizations better understand this situation and improve their professional strategies. Additionally, it can provide information on the needs and experiences of homeless individuals and help them improve their situation. This thesis can also be useful for further research and studies in this field.
Problems of homelessness in the social field

The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of homelessness in the social sphere, aiming to highlight the forms and causes of homelessness among people who use services intended for homeless people. It also contains chapters that relate to the explanation of basic concepts that are essential for understanding of this issue. The second part of this bachelor thesis is enriched with human stories based on case studies. At the end of the work, the findings are visible, extended by the subjective view of clients, where they see the main cause of their homelessness.
The Life of Homeless Women in a Selected Region through the Eyes of Themselves

The bachelor thesis deals with the life of homeless women in České Budějovice. The main aim of the thesis is to present the various challenges that are related to the loss of housing, and to find out what the most common causes of homelessness of women in České Budějovice are. The practical part of this bachelor thesis is conducted through the qualitative research strategy. The method of questioning and the technique of semi-structured interview were used. The research sample consists of eight homeless women living in the area of the South Bohemian Region, specifically in České Budějovice. The research sample was selected using the snowball sampling method. The results of the interviews were collected and further processed using the open coding method. Through this method, ten categories with specific codes were created. The results of the research showed that the most common causes of homelessness of women in České Budějovice are domestic violence and unsatisfactory (dysfunctional) relationships with family. The communication partners also shared dissatisfaction with the current situation and stated that they wished to change their situation. It also became apparent that the communication partners consider the absence of stable housing to be the main problem. Homelessness is a serious problem which noticeably affects all dimensions of human life. This phenomenon relates primarily to cities and their inhabitants take specific stands on homelessness, which are positive or negative. The aim of this bachelor work is to describe attitudes of school-age children to homelessness. In theoretical section I will try to give as precise definition of homelessness as possible. I will deal with its reasons, I will describe how homeless people live and I will focus on facilities, which help these people (night shelters, low-threshold facilities, reception centres etc.). In the practical part I will try to clarify which stands schoolchildren take on this issue. I will try to make an analysis by means of quantitative research, specifically via questionnaires at schools.
Homelesses with regress to the social services

This thesis concerns repeated returns of homeless people to social services. The theoretical part focuses on the description and the problem areas of homeless people, cultural-historical development of homelessness in Czech lands - defines the term of social services and discusses the model of work with the target group in Poland. At the end of the theoretical part a Center for homeless people the Bohuslav Bures social services center (BBSSC) Salvation Army is presented, in this way methods of work with the target group are demonstrated, the way of keeping documentation is described and the analysis of the shelter home relevant to the theme of the work are publicized. The research carried out in the practical part looks for factors which have caused the return of the former users of social services. For the purposes of the work the phenomenon of returning is studied in persons, who in the period of 2007 - April 2012 used a shelter home in BBSSC in Salvation Army, left for commercial housing and after their departure they come back to BBSSC within one year as candidates for a social service. Bachelor thesis on "Reasons for homelessness among young people" is about young people without their home. It deals with the definition of homelessness, explanation of who is person with no home, history and specifics of homelessness. This theme also deals with the specific reasons why young people get on the street. It also includes the risks associated with homelessness, services and organizations for people without their home and projects supporting the homeless. The aim of my research is to determine the reasons and causes why young people get on the streets. As a method I chose discussion and interview held with young homeless people.
