Rituals in Waldorf primary school
Nesládková, Klára ; Bartheldi, Layla (advisor) ; Wirthová, Jitka (referee)
This bachelor's thesis explores the shame of rituals in a Waldorf primary school. The first part is devoted to the fundamental theoretical background for this work, namely Émile Durkheim's theory of ritual and the rites of passage of Arnold Van Gennep and Victor Turner. It then introduces concepts that are central to the study of ritual in the Waldorf primary school, which are community and communitas, secularization, alternative spirituality, New Age, and the concept of believing without belonging. The second part is devoted to a description of the methodology. It outlines the research questions, research methods, sources of the gift and reflects on the role of the researcher. The last analytical part of the paper describes and discusses the findings obtained through the analysis of the research semi-structured interviews and participant observation. It was found that rituals in a Waldorf primary school are an indispensable part of the whole Waldorf education. They create an environment in which the actors meet each other and share common values, ideas and strengthen collective feelings and interpersonal relationships through joint ritual activities. They also include rites of passage. The ritual itself is preceded by a long period of preparation, during which stories are told to explain the...
Borderline life situations in seriously ill and dying patients. A space for established religions, or for alternative spirituality?
MARYŠKOVÁ, Jana
The dissertation deals with one of the spheres of the Church?s action in society, specifically the function of caring for the ill in the form of clinical pastoral care in the context of the borderline life situations of patients suffering of a serious illness, in confrontation with so-called alternative spirituality. It asks whether a serious illness is a space for Christianity in the form of clinical pastoral work, or for alternative spirituality, especially with respect to the secular Czech context. To this purpose the theoretical part of the work first stipulates basic and partial criteria for the Church?s practice and then analyses the contemporary social context in which this practice is realised. As the analyses show, the Czech context is characterised by the extremely low interest of Czech people in Christianity on the one hand, but a high interest in magical phenomena on the other hand. This context is then also examined in the empirical part of the dissertation, whose results correspond to the theoretical points of departure and show that the borderline life situations of seriously ill patients open in many of them a space for alternative spirituality as a support system in a difficult life situation. A further part of the work then compares the current practice of the Church with the stipulated criteria and reflects on it theologically. This reflection leads to the stipulation of two criteria ? diakonia and martyria, which enable clinical pastoral care to be a partner in dialogue not only with Christians, but also with patients of alternative faiths, and to react to their spiritual, existential, and possibly even religious needs. The concluding part of the dissertation is devoted to the self-conception of clinical pastoral work in a secular institution. The points of departure here are, among other things, the conception of the chaplaincy service in the Czech Armed Forces and the character of categorial pastoral care, leading to the conclusion that although clinical pastoral care meets the helping professions in many aspects and on the other hand differs from traditional pastoral care in parishes, it can ? similarly to the army situation ? be conceived as a form of pre-evangelism.
Messengers of the Light: Angelic Spirituality in Czech Context
Tesárek, Jan ; Spalová, Barbora (advisor) ; Uherek, Zdeněk (referee)
This thesis addresses non-traditional angelic spirituality experienced outside of traditional churches. This spirituality is specific for its everyday communication and contact with angelic beings. The present research examines contemporary angelic spirituality using a lens of relational ontology and semiotic analysis, focusing on how recurrent communication acts allow the emergence of specific subjectivities and identifies the main processes behind this phenomenon - recognition, interpretation and reaction. Research documents specific techniques allowing the formation of angelic subjectivities and redefinition of human subjectivities; prayer, reading cards, guided meditation, different types of clairvoyance and interpretation of signs. Deliberately using these techniques leads to re/definition of subjectivity of a practitioner (through clairvoyant insights into the past lives) and transforms him into human/incarnated soul. These communication acts further form a subjectivity of deceased souls, with which practitioners of angelic spirituality are often in contact, together with the subjectivity of dark beings, which cannot interact with a person without invitation it first and a subjectivity of angelic beings, which are defined by their unconditional support of their charges. Emergent "ecology of...
Theological reflection: Relationship between Christian religion and phenomenons of alternative spirituality
Mužíková, Radka ; Bouma, David (advisor) ; Červenková, Denisa (referee)
The main purpose of the work is to theologically reflect a relationship between christianity and the selected phenomenons of alternative spirituality. Partial goal of this dissertation paper is a theological reflection of this relationship. Human being and its theological- anthropological base is a fundamental connection to this relationship. A uniting component is human dignity which structures an essential princip arising from revelation. The thesis reflects roots of human dignity and its relationship with Trinitarian God and christianity - and life without this bindings. For this purpose an interdisciplinary overlap to communication psychology is used - due to fact, that this model can be applied to revelation. Thanks to this communication model a proces of creating self-approach of person can be outlined and it opens a way to understand empirical perspective of alternativly spiritual followers. Using the model is good to understand the structure and its formation between christianity and alternative spirituality as well. This perspective can be helpful to gain a better view of inner structure of relationship of these phenomenons and its opportunities.
