Disinformation on German Twitter Accounts during the 2019 European Parliament Elections

The master thesis addresses the social network Twitter and the spread of disinformation in the last weeks before 2019 European Parliament elections in Germany. The target of the research is to analyze the spread of disinformation immediately before the elections and determine the specifics of the German Twitter landscape. The theory of information disorder by Wardle and Derakhshan enabled a deep study of disinformation. The thesis explains the basic theory of disinformation and its connection to the right-wing populist movements. In Germany, this phenomenon is connected to AfD - Alternative für Deutschland party, that follows the topics of migration, alleged censorship, and climate skepticism, which are also the defined topics of disinformation in Germany. Through a content analysis of quantitative data from 1st to 25th May 2019 explains the types of disinformation according to the information disorder theory and the spread of disinformation in German landscape, interpretates the topics and is trying to link the spread of disinformation directly to the AfD party. Vzestup populistických stran v období evropské migrační krize

In the bachelors' paper, the author will focus on the issue of populism and analyze the impacts of the migration crisis in 2015 on the rise of populism in Europe. In the first part of the thesis, the author will define the concept of populism and describe the extent of such phenomenon based on the success of the relevant political parties in Europe. The author will briefly describe the historical development, core features, and specifics of populist rhetoric. The second part of the thesis will be dedicated to the migration crisis. In this part, the author will apply the findings from the first part and attempt to explain the means the political parties used to come to power during the migration crisis and increase their political profits. The relationship of populist parties to the topic of migration and the role, which this topic played in the successful mobilization of voters, will be demonstrated on the specific examples of political parties in EU countries, where the populists have succeeded.
Migration crisis in the rhetorics of eurosceptical parties - content analysis

This master's thesis deals with a depiction of a European migrant crisis in an agenda of Eurosceptic parties. The main goal of this thesis is to analyse the content of press releases and political programmes of selected Eurosceptic parties and, based on this, to examine their attitudes to the migrant crisis and possible connections with a degree of their Euroscepticism. There are four parties in this research selected according to the degree of Euroscepticism and the net immigration rate of their countries resulting in a research sample of two soft and two hard Eurosceptic parties from four different countries - two with high and two with low net immigration rate. A time frame of research is set from January 2015 to September 2016, which covers a main period of immigration waves. The research proved that there are some common characteristics among Eurosceptic parties and their attitudes to the migration, but more important factor is a main ideology of given party beyond its Euroscepticism. We could observe a wide spectrum of opinions from manifestations of solidarity and efforts to constructively resolve the crisis, through simple criticism towards the European union up to anti-migration rhetoric with elements of a xenophobia. Populismus v současné české a německé stranické politice - příklad Alternativy pro Německo a Svobody a přímé demokracie v České republice

In this paper I concentrate on the topics of populism, its explicit definition, attribution within the system of political course, short history of development within the scope of western democracy, its distinctive traits and its contemporarily increasing tendency of influence of populist parties in the parliament of the representative democracy and also the advancement of populistic candidates in countries which possess a presidential system. I focus on two parties in particular, one within the framework of the German and another within the Czech parliament party system. I provide insight on the main characteristics and differences between the German political party Alternative für Deutschland (AfD), and the Czech political party Svoboda a přímá demokracie - Tomio Okamura (SPD) in terms of temporary development, structure of the organization, election program and canvass. Further, an analysis of the election results in both parliaments in those countries is pointed out.

The Diploma thesis discusses the German political party Alternative für Deutschland and its position in the German political system. The thesis deals with Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) since its establishment in 2013 until spring 2017. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the ideological and programmatic transformation of AfD. AfD was formed as an eurosceptic party just few months before the General Election in 2013. AfD has became the first eurosceptic party in Germany which has attracted substantial electoral support in local, national and European elections. The main motivation of the party was the fight against the eurozone crisis and EU criticism. The AfD's criticism is mainly focused on the EU's fiscal and monetary regime. Frauke Petry has became a new party leader in 2015. In the same year the party has turned its focus to immigration and Islam. New leader Petry has managed to take control of a debate on the position of migration and asylum policy. Under her leadership the party has became an anti-immigration party. She was also trying to enfoce a party line to extend populism, xenophobia and islamophobia. AfD is focused on criticism of migration and asylum policies in EU and Germany.
