Renato Guttuso and Czechoslovakia
V širších souvislostech se proto práce zabývá dobovou kulturní a politickou situací v Itálii a v Československu a přináší vhled do vzájemných kulturních vztahů obou zemí. Autorka vycházela z dobové literatury, archivních pramenů (archiv Ministerstva zahraničních věcí, archiv Národní Galerie) a dobového tisku (zejména časopisy Výtvarné umění, Výtvarná práce, deník Rudé právo, měsíčník Literární noviny).
The depiction of the history of Czechoslovakia in comics
Hromádko, Jan ; Šafařík, Petr (advisor) ; Kozák, Kryštof (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the representation of the history of Czechoslovakia in historical comics. Specifically, it focuses on the period 1948-1989, ie the period of hegemonic rule of the Communist Party. The subject of interest is more than forty comics, which depict different years and to different degrees of defined years. These are mainly comics by Czech authors, which were published after 2000. The aim of the work is to formulate functional mechanisms and interpretive tendencies of the representation of the past on the basis of qualitative research of Michal Uhl's comics. The analysis of comics, where attention was paid mainly to characters as the central point of the narrative, reveals several partial conclusions. The two main approaches to the representation of history in the analyzed comics are: complex (captures a longer period of time and more characters) and compact (focused on one character), the latter predominating. According to the way in which the psychology and motivation of the characters are portrayed, we can further divide compact comics into conservative (dichotomous characters) and progressive (non-dichotomous characters). Although the comics differ in their approach to the character, they do not leave the dominant framework of narrative, which is a critical view of the communist...

Maximova, Marie ; Šmíd, Marek (advisor) ; Petráček, Tomáš (referee)
The diploma thesis entitled Prerequisites for the Restoration of the Greek Catholic Church in Czechoslovakia in the second half of the 20th century deals with the fate of this church in the period of communist regime. The main part of the work is devoted to the years 1950-1968, the stage from its abolition to its partial restoration. In this period, factors and key events that contributed to the restoration are sought. Important moments in the history of the Greek Catholic church are interpreted in the historical political-religious context. The conclusion outlined the life and activities of the restored, but limited, Greek Catholic Church in the period of normalization.
The image of the position of the western woman and the western feminist movement in the woman's press in Czechoslovakia in 1948-1989
Marková, Tanja ; Gelnarová, Jitka (advisor) ; Kubátová, Hana (referee)
The Bachelor's Diploma Thesis "The Image of Women's Role in the West in Women's Magazines in Czechoslovakia in 1948-1989" discusses the different development of women's social statuses in the Eastern and Western Blocs in the bipolar world of the second half of the 20th century. The main objective of the thesis is to determine how women's magazine Vlasta depicted social status of women living in the West during the Cold War, and how the depictions influenced the changes in international relations in the respective period. The author has decided to implement the discursive analysis. Since it would be rather demanding to process all published issues of Vlasta in 1948-1989 due to the quantity, the writings for the analysis were those published around the International Women's Day. The author has decided to focus on this period because the International Women's Day was celebrated in both blocks, thus she assumes that space dedicated to women's social status in various countries is bigger in the time of the celebrations than in the rest of the year. The analysis of the figures showed that Vlasta magazine accommodated the image of women in the West and their social status to the geopolitical development of the Cold War. Intensity of how Vlasta informed the readers about unequal rights and bad living...
