Chomutov 1945-48

Bachelor's thesis "Chomutov 1945-1948" deals with post Second World War events in Chomutov and its outskirts with an emphasis on everyday life and the resettlement of this area after expulsion of the ethnic Germans. The thesis is based primarily on printed, archival and Internet resources but as key information sources are used narrative of direct participants in these events and their memories and testimonies. In the introduction, the work attempts to outline the coexistence of the Czech minority in the pre-war period, briefly events in 1938, and life in the Third Reich to its collapse and reconnection of Chomutov to the Czechoslovak republic. In another part of the work the author is concerned with the deportation and persecution of the German population and its relations with the newcomers. The central part of the work is trying to outline the life of immigrants in this period. Using eyewitness accounts, it was possible to map the daily life of settlers and their problems, such as everyday supply problems, health care, education and childhood in this region. There is also mention about regional culture, sports and political situation. Third republic in Podebrady

The proposed diploma thesis "The Third Republic in Podebrady" focuses on town Podebrady during years 1945-1948. The work provides the reader with a comprehensive overview of events at the end of the WWII. It also describes the period of liberation and the arrival of Red Army and Allied troops. Furthermore, the thesis investigates various events, that took place in Podebrady in the time of so-called Third Republic. The establishment of Municipal and District National Comitte is explored as well as their activities. Besides that, the work deals with actions of the National Security Corps (SNB) and with the development in schools and in industry in Podebrady, especially with the process of nationalization in glass and spa industries.

Bachelor thesis Comparison of the United Kingdom policy towards the Palestinian question in 1936-1939 and 1945-1948 compares the policy of the United Kingdom to Palestine in the periods defined by years 1936-1939 and 1945-1948. It focuses on the differences between the compared periods and analyses their causes. It is questioning what were the reasons which led the British government to adopt the different policies in these periods. The opening chapter is a brief historical introduction to the history of the British Mandate of Palestine. It also presents the politics of London to Palestine in 1936-1939 and 1945-1948. The second chapter compares the conditions in which the British approach was shaped. The third chapter is a comparison of the interests of the United Kingdom, which could influence the policy of London to the Palestinian question.

Master's thesis called How Did Sports Journalism Change in Czechoslovakian Press after 1948? Comparing Periods 1945-1948 and 1953-1958 deals with the development and comparison of sports journalism in post-war Czechoslovakia and through the qualitative content analysis of three selected sports periodicals (Ruch v tělesné výchově/Ruch v tělovýchově a sportu, Stadion, Československý sport). Research focuses on media reports, graphic and language changes and organizational development of the periodicals. Secondary subjects are the fate of selected editors, the post-war development of the Sports Journalists Society and the unification of physical education movement. The author used the rich archive material of individual editions of sports periodicals and sources from the National Archives. Secondarily he used the review literature on media development and journalism after World War II, using historical monographs to analyze the historical context that is absolutely crucial to understanding post-war developments in Czechoslovakia and the press.

Resume The work surveys the prosopography of members of the Economic Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia and its expert subcommissions which worked between the years 1945 and 1948. In respect to criteria of the selection to the commission a former professional career and education are mainly concerned. The work contributes to the history of the middle class in former Czechoslovakia and it sets out to account for inclination of these people towards the project of socialist society and their commitment to take part in a communist movement afer the world war. As the main agenda of the commission is focused together with beliefs and expectations which were articulated in connection with the project of socialist society the work attempts to describe motives of personal involvement of the members of the commission in the postwar social transformation as well as the way they adopted the socialist ideology.
Small businesses in Prachatice during the years after the World War II. Contribution to the economic history of the town in the half of the 20th century

The purpose of this bachelor´s is to map the development of small businesses in Prachatice during the period so-called Third Czechoslovak Republic, between the years 1945-1948 with an extra overlap until 1954. To a large extent the time-span is influenced by character of archiv materials firstly being more comprehensive between the years 1948-1954, as far as various public notices, list of small businesses and few photographs are considered. Based on such materials the development of firm trade, yet its structural changes are defined, and futhermore situated into political, economical and social context of the Czechoslovakian state or, as the case may be, of South Bohemia and the Prachatice district. The small-businesses development is continuousty compared with another two location, i.e. Vimper in 1946 and Volary (1946, 1948-1954). Last but not least, this work endeavours to compare the pre- and post-war firm trade´s condition.
