Parents' reasons for Christian education of their children
NOVOTNÁ, Aneta
This bachelor thesis examines aspects of Christian family. It also describes the practice of Christian parenting and lists the pastoral activities of selected churches. The thesis draws on literature that helps to map the family policies of three Christian denominations: the Roman Catholic Church, the Church of the Brethren (Církev bratrská), and the Christian Fellowship (Křesťanská společenství). The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. A semi-structured interview strategy was used to answer the research question, followed by an analysis of the resulting data. Through the conducted research, the thesis maps the practice of Christian parenting in specific families and identifies parents' reasons for Christian parenting, which, according to the conducted research, are based on the specific opinions and attitudes of the respective churches.

Secretly ordained bishops in the 2nd half of the 20th century. An example of the life and work of bishop Kajetán Matoušek
Šustr, Vratislav ; Zdichynec, Jan (advisor) ; Koura, Petr (referee)
This thesis focuses on the life of the secretly consecrated Roman Catholic bishop Kajetán Matoušek. The author will try to compare Matoušek's life and career to the fate and work of other secretly consecrated Roman Catholic bishops who were ordained in the same historical period and served in the Prague archdiocese. The bishops are Ladislav Hlad, ThLic. Karel Otčenášek, PaedDr. and František Cardinal Tomášek. The comparison of K. Matoušek's life to the life of others is based on their individual life stages and milestones, such as childhood, studies, or motivation to become a priest, as well as the circumstances of the secret ordination. Preserved materials about the above-mentioned bishops stored in Archiv bezpečnostních složek (Security Services Archive) were used for this thesis as well as the materials found in the Archives of the Prague Archbishopric, where are stored mainly official materials. An equally important source of information is a family archive of the Novotný family, which was related to Bishop Matoušek (the Matoušek family's male line died out with Bishop Matoušek himself), from which many photographs, but also other materials analyzed in this thesis were obtained. Finally, the so-called second parish records of the St. Adalbert parish in the New Town of Prague are considered. The...

The thesis "Medial muck-raking of sexual affairs in the Church in Czech press in spring 2010" through the use of medial ruts, stereotypes and logic, inquires into medial texts from the springtime 2010, which have referenced to sexual affairs in Catholic Church. The work first deals with the thirties and the period of war, which is associated with the creation of the first Ratlines in Spain. Furthermore, the work is devoted to the Red Cross and the process of issuing travel, so as to understand how the Nazis managed to gain a new identity. The last part of the thesis is devoted to the Italian Ratlines, where the functioning of the Refugee Assistance Commission and two of the most famous Italian Ratlines are examined. The main research question is the motivation of individual participants, which are mainly found anti-Semitic and national motives, which led to the participation of Alois Hudal or Krunoslav Draganovič in the issue of Ratlines. Another issue that the work dealt with was the participation of parts of the Roman Catholic Church, where the work came to the conclusion that it was primarily individuals or groups, as was the case of the two above-mentioned priests. Švejdová, Amália ; Schwarz, Jiří (advisor) ; Skuhrovec, Jiří (referee)
The bachelor thesis Economics of Religion: Analysis of Contributions in the Roman Catholic Church in the Czech Republic focuses on economics of religion in the enviroment of the Czech republic and especially the case of the Roman Catholic Church. The main aim of the thesis is to analyze the situation of the religious market and the role and position of the Roman Catholic Church within it, in regards to participation in religious institutions, voluntary donations etc. By studying the relationship between the state and church and it's determined financing system it is possible to set the model for the degree of financial participation of the church's members (voluntary contributions). By using a regression analysis, a hypothesis is tested on specific empirical data - the amount of voluntary contributions, (un)employment, age, size of the church, and percentage of women in the population.
Benedictine Convent of St. Gabriel at Prague Smíchov
Wagner, David ; Foltýn, Dušan (advisor) ; Těšínská Lomičková, Radka (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the history of Saint Gabriel's Benedictine nunnery at Smíchov, which made a part of beuron congregation. I focus on a few disputable issues, which haven't been sufficiently solved so far and often have been neglected by Czech literature. The crucial question is, why exactly did the nuns have to leave the monastery. To provide an answer to this problem I had to perform a thorough study of the Beuron phenomenon in the context of the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the twentieth century, and, above all, I had to scrutinize the background of particular nuns. In this work, among other, I come to a conclusion that the reason for the nuns' departure, as well as for the overall specificity of the nunnery / monastery, was an unusual combination of extreme catholicism, German nationalism and their mostly aristocratic background. All the three aspects were in disagreement with the values acknowledged by the newly-emerged state of Czechoslovakia, whose apparatus didn't understand or didn't want to understand the mentality of the nuns and their commitments. This situation eventually culminates by the nuns moving out of the country and the building being sold to the Ministry of posts and telegraphs, with a real burden: a regular mass should be held in the church, which by...
