Time-space mobility of students in Prague

Diploma thesis deals with evaluation of time-space mobility of students in selected Prague's high schools. In introduction, research questions searching for differences in daily motions, non-daily motions of students and way of spending leisure time in a city are asked. Furthermore, this thesis is aimed at discussion of time-space mobility within Czech and foreign literature and approach to study of everyday-life. Everyday life and the leisure activities of secondary school students in Rychnov nad Kněžnou

This Master's thesis focuses on the spatial mobility of secondary school students and the way they spend their leisure time. Rychnov nad Kněžnou town and its surrounding is chosen for the empirical study. The topic of the thesis connects several disciplines especially geography, sociology and psychology in the theoretical part. Special attention is given to the Time Geography and the explanation of the concept of leisure time in the teen-agers's life. The research on the students from different types of secondary schools in Rychnov nad Kněžnou is the main part of the thesis where the method of questionnaire and diary is used. The objective of the survey is to explore daily activities of teen-agers in the time and space. Questions are focused especially on the way the respondents spend their leisure time. Stated activities are compared with the supply of leisure services in the region. The attention in the survey is also paid to the missing leisure services.
Spatiotemporal mobility of pensioners in the environment of the city of České Budějovice and its hinterland: evaluation with use of modern geoinformation technologies

This diploma thesis studies the issue of spatiotemporal mobility of pensioners in the environment of the city of České Budějovice and its hinterland. This research uses a combination of two methods. The first method is a questionnaire survey in witch each respondent received two questionnaires. Journeys made were recorded into the first questionnaire and characteristics of respondents and their households into the second one. The second method uses GPS loggers to collect spatial data on mobility of people. The theoretical part of this thesis deals with concepts of time geography, mobility specifics of pensioners, the issue of retirement age in the Czechia and the potential use of modern geoinformation technologies for mobility research. The methodology part presents methodological procedures for evaluating the obtained data, criteria for selection of respondents and the process of research. Followed by evaluation of actual results of surveys and their interpretation with regard to sub-goals of this thesis. The results are in many cases formed using a combination of data from both research methods. Time-space mobility of university students in Ceske Budejovice

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of time-space mobility of university students in the town Ceske Budejovice. The research was conducted on the basis of data collection through three methods, combining various approaches to time-space mobility. The first method used was questionnaire research representing traditional way of collecting information. The modern methods category was represented by GPS loggers and smartphone devices operating through the motion capture applications. The aim was a qualitative comparison of these methods in practice and further evaluation of their potential benefits for time-space research. Furthermore, the main focus is on the overall analysis of time-space mobility of university students in urban environment of Ceske Budejovice, with emphasis on the concept of bundles. Individual results are supported by images and maps created in geographic information systems. The final chapter summarizes the acquired findings and the resulting measurements of time-space mobility of university students in Ceske Budejovice.

EVERYDAY LIFE OF MOTHERS WITH CHILDREN IN SUBURBS AND IN THE INNER CITY Abstract The aim of this thesis is to investigate the everyday life of mothers with children in the suburban zone and in the inner city, capture differences in the time-space mobility of mothers, depending on their place of residence and find out how these activities and habits differ in different types of residential enviroments. This monitoring and evaluation was based on the method of semi-structured interviews. For the research there were chosen localities Jesenice as a representative of new housing in the suburban area and Nova Harfa as a representative of new residential areas in the inner city.

People from poor countries are moving thousands of kilometers to developed countries with the vision of material prosperity. Airplanes transport thousands of people in hours to places, where people had travelled much longer recently. Similarly, also an ordinary weekday is for the majority of population connected with relatively long moves between different places of daily activities.
