Morphological alterations in kidneys in mice with high soluble endoglin levels
Vyskočilová, Martina ; Němečková, Ivana (advisor) ; Nachtigal, Petr (referee)
Masters thesis Morphological alterations in kidneys in mice with high soluble endoglin levels Author: Bc. Martina Vyskočilová Study program: Medical bioanalytics Charles University Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Background: Endoglin (Eng) is a transmembrane glycoprotein also known as an accesory receptor type III for a TGF-β molecule which is expressed primarily on the surface of endothelial cells. Endoglin plays a role in vascular homeostasis, angiogenesis and cardiovascular development. Soluble endoglin (sEng) which is formed by a cleavage of an extracelullar part of a membrane-bound endoglin scavenges the TGF-β molecules in the serum and blocks their binding to the membrane-bound receptor. Soluble endoglin is considered as a trigger of an endothelial dysfunction which is associated with cardiovascular diseases and patogenesis of preeclampsia. The aim of this study is to describe possible effect of high levels of a soluble endoglin on kidney tissue of transgenic mice in comparison with kidneys of mice with low levels of a human soluble endoglin. Methods: Kidneys of twelve months old mice with high and normal levels of a human soluble endoglin on a standard laboratory diet were fixed in 4% formaldehyde, embedded in paraffin and sliced into 7 μm thin sections. One of these sections was...
Liability for Damage Caused by Exercise of Public Authority Focusing on the Institute of Regress Damages
Vyskočilová, Martina ; Sládeček, Vladimír (referee)
Liability for Damage Caused by Exercise of Public Authority Focusing on the Institute of Regress Damages This thesis focuses on liability for damage caused by exercise of public authority with an emphasis on the institute of regress damages as stipulated by Act. No. 82/1998 Sb. The institute of regress is emphasized throughout my paper as the fundamental research questions are: How is the institute expressed by positive law? Is it being used or is it only an empty provision? And how exactly is it being used? What is the success rate? If it is not used, what are possible reasons? The text is divided into four parts with subparts of first and second level. First part analyzes the key terms such as liability, damage, public authority and its entities. There is a disctinction between the public authority entity, who is liable for the damage, and the actual bodies, who exercise the authority. I also included a brief subchapter related to damage caused by lawful exercise of public authority. Second part analyzes how liability for damage caused by public authority is enshrined in the Czech Republic. First I addressed constitutional and international aspects, followed by provisions of Act. No. 82/1998 Sb., which is the foundation stone of the regulation. Third part is dedicated to the institute of regress...

Morphological characteristics of alterations in lungs in a mouse model of atherosclerosis.
Vyskočilová, Martina ; Němečková, Ivana (advisor) ; Blažíčková, Kateřina (referee)
Bachelor thesis Morphological characteristics of alterations in lungs in a mouse model of atherosclerosis Author: Martina Vyskočilová Study course: Medical laboratory technician Charles University Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Background: Atherosclerosis is a multifactorial disease caused by deposition of blood lipids into the intima layer of blood vessels. Due to the fact that process of atherogenesis is associated with immune reactions, disease is considered as an inflammatory process. Atherosclerotic plaques rarely affect pulmonary arteries, where this condition is accompanied by an increase of pulmonary pressure, which is very likely the trigger of disease. Aim of this study is to find out whether there are morphological changes in the lungs of ApoE/LDLr-/- mouse model of atherosclerosis, characteristic for pulmonary atherosclerosis, compared to lungs of healthy mice. Methods: Lungs of ApoE/LDLr-/- and healthy C57BL/6J control mice have been fixed in 4% neutral formaldehyde, embedded in paraffin and sliced into 4 μm thin sections. One of the sections has been stained with hematoxylin-eosin, the other one with green trichrome. Staining with hematoxylin-eosin is primary staining used for basic imaging of histological structure of tissues, staining with green trichrome is used for imaging...
