Trlifajová, Lucie ; Potůček, Martin (advisor) ; Sirovátka, Tomáš (referee) ; Pospěch Durnová, Anna (referee)
From Neoliberal Restriction to Control of Roma Population. Czech System of Social Protection and Disappearance of Social Citizenship. Lucie Trlifajová Equal position in society - and the ability to claim citizenship rights - is shaped by the feelings of recognition. This thesis examines the process of the disappearance of social citizenship in the Czech Republic, a gradual change in the social protection system targeted to poor and low- income households, which deprives poor people not only of an economic protection but also of their equal status and recognition. 2004-2012 reforms reduced the Czech system of social protection of poor and low-income households to a conditional and stigmatizing system, similar to countries that embraced a neoliberal approach to social policies. This thesis focuses on the "post-neoliberal" development of these systems in the following decade. The period is characterized by a greater involvement of politicians representing regions with higher proportion of inhabitants facing economic insecurity. In most cases, however, the involvement of these players did not reverse the restriction of social policies but rather accelerated and strengthened it. The thesis examines how the construction of social benefits (especially social assistance scheme) became part of a struggle...

Policies of the Prague districts to indebted households at risk of loss of housing and their implementation
Vidláková, Martina ; Trlifajová, Lucie (advisor) ; Ochrana, František (referee)
This thesis analyses local housing policies in connection with over-indebted households and households at risk of over-indebtedness and loss of housing. The design of housing policies and the perception of these households by selected districts of Prague will be studied through the analytical framework of responsibilisation. Detailed examination of approaches towards dealing with rent arrears is used to analyse the assigning of responsibility for housing situations caused by rent arrears to various actors in the districts. Shifting of responsibility for the situation and its solution is profoundly manifested in connection with rent arrears. Responsibility is shifted primarily on the households, although the districts attribute varying degrees of responsibility for solving housing situations caused by rent arrears also to themselves. Structural causes of debt are absent in the approaches of districts to rent arrears, which for authors using the responsibilisation concept is a feature of advanced liberal societies.

We are all in the same boat: low-threshold facility for homeless women
Jírová, Renata ; Ezzeddine, Petra (advisor) ; Trlifajová, Lucie (referee)
1 Abstract This diploma thesis aims to describe the practices of the low-threshold center for homeless women "Mezi svými" by which the principles of critical social work are being executed and negotiated in the broader context of "antiradical" Czech social work (Valová and Janebová, 2015) and its discourse "reintegration ". In general, social work is expected to provide its clients with protection against social exclusion or to support their reintegration into society. However, in a situation where employment is considered a key element of integration, social work gets into some difficulties because it cannot create jobs on its own (Castel, 2003). Hence I investigate how peer and social workers find a balance between 1) the ideals of critical social work that organizations subscribe to, and 2) the need to "integrate" women back into the system, activate them, and motivate them to find work. In seeking answers to this question, I pay special attention to the asymmetry of power that characterizes the relationship between social workers and their clients, and I observe the role that peer workers play in sharing power with clients. Key words: Feminist anthropology, intersection of disadvantages, critical social work, power, women in social distress, peer workers, reintegration, work.

Over-indebtedness of young people in the Czech Republic
Lišková, Veronika ; Angelovská, Olga (advisor) ; Trlifajová, Lucie (referee)
The master's thesis "Over-indebtedness of Young Generation in the Czech Republic" deals with over-indebtedness of individuals at the age of 18 to 26 years. Over-indebtedness is a general social problem as all age groups get overburdened with debt. However, it is important to focus on the issue of young people's over-indebtedness directly because the young generation represents people who are or will be active in the general working process. The authoress of the thesis points out the young generation's over-indebtedness and provides an overview of development of this issue in 2008 - 2015. She also examines the most frequent causes which she has found out using questionnaires and data collected. In her work, the authoress also outlines a gradual development of possible indebtedness, which primarily includes loans, from both banks and other institutions, followed by a court procedure and execution of the judgement. A possible solution to over-indebtedness then consists in filing a petition with a court to permit a personal discharge from debts. The work aims at finding out and examining development of the young generation's indebtedness in the Czech Republic, analysing causes of over-indebtedness, describing the changes of the causes in time and at analysing the process of discharge from debts, which...

Trlifajová, Lucie ; Uherek, Zdeněk (referee) ; Šatava, Leoš (advisor)
Ukrainians represent the most numerous foreign group coming to the Czech Republic. Ukrainian migration is usually described as circular and temporary. The aim of this diploma thesis is to scrutinize some of the recent changes in the Ukrainian immigration to Czech Republic, and their impact on the identity of newly establishing local Ukrainian community. Therefore the first part is focused on the questions of ethnical identity and on the transnational theory, which I based my final analysis on. The second part examines historical and social context: the development of Ukrainian nation in the twentieth century and different approaches towards minorities and foreigners in Czechia during the same period. It is also focused on transformations of migration in the Czech Republic and Ukraine after the fall of the communist regime as well as on approach towards new migration communities. Especially two Ukrainian-Czech waves of migration are being concentrated on, namely interwar political migration and a new economic migration, and their status in the Czech Republic. The thesis shows the increase in proportion of permanently settled inhabitants among the new Ukrainian migration and higher integration of this group into the local society as well as traditional Ukrainian community. The Ukrainian school in Prague,...
