Slívková, Hana ; Šmied, Miroslav (advisor) ; Sojka, Jaroslav (referee)
Chateau Zákupy under influence of Ferdinand V This bachelor's thesis focuses on Ferdinand V. and his reign on chateau Zákupy, which is the main subject of my interest and of this work. Because Ferdinand V. had a major importance in the Zákupy region, I dedicated part of this work to his life and reign. Ferdinand V. was the last crowned Czech king and he chose chateau Zákupy as his major summer residence. As the chateau was supposed to represent his person and status properly, it was rebuilt by significant artists and craftsmen of its time. This work is focusing on the original state of the chateau Zákupy, its reconstruction, equipment and decoration.
Architect Otto Rothmayer and his realization for Prague castle
Bejšovcová, Kristýna ; Sojka, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Czumalo, Vladimír (referee)
This work deals with realizations of Otto Rothmayer in the Prague Castle, where we can find the most significant pieces of his lifelong work. It will be chronologically divided by several life periods, initially starts from collaboration with Josiph Plečnik, then his own works and at the end the post-war period. Otto Rothmayer was a modest and almost inconspicuous man, maybe it's just one of the reasons why haven't been written any respectable monographs about him. He was very conscientious and he didn't try to enforce his own inventions or historical styles into the reconstructed architecture, without affecting it. Always, already standing architecture, was precedence over his abilities, therefore is his piece so unique and harmonic. I would like to try to focus on brilliantly performed renovation of the Terezian wing (in the meaning of timelessness), which got after putting spindle staircase completely new dimension. Otto Rothmayer excelled with the talent to insert his pragmatic, sometimes almost cool effect objects into the vibrant history of the Prague Castle with a unique intuition of one of the best architects of the modern era.

PLENARY OF HANUŠ II. Z KOLOWRAT FROM ST.VITUS TREASURY
Stránská, Kateřina ; Sojka, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Šmied, Miroslav (referee)
The bachelor thesis called Plenář Hanuše II. z Kolowrat z chrámového pokladu svatovítského, is dealing with one of the leading liturgical objects from a time of Jiří z Poděbrad. Although St. Vitus temple treasure has adequate art-historical attention, this late-gothic relics panel eluded independent processing. Given the interest of student in the history of decorative arts and earlier studies at the School of Applied Arts in Turnov, is selected topic, where there can be demonstrated ability to connect classical art-historical perspective with practical insight, thoroughly dedicated to the art-craft techniques. Clearly sorted chapters, in which a person approaches the donor, his ancestry, accurate description of the object and history of its repairs, modifications and restoration, results in synthetic view which brings new information. Reliquary plate is not perceived only as a cold artistic creation, but especially as still alive liturgical object with reference to various relics and theological timeless meaning of oblation in the Middle Ages. The aim is, among other things, to get closer to the culture and donor activity of late-gothic Bohemia.

Cathedral motives in Czech Gothic architecture around 1400
Sojka, Jaroslav ; Kuthan, Jiří (advisor) ; Royt, Jan (referee) ; Jarošová, Markéta (referee)
The submitted dissertation is a wide ranging collection of mutually connected themes reacting to the basic question of the position of the Cathedrals of Sts. Vitus, Wenceslas and Adalbert in high Gothic art during the period around the year 1400? What influenced the cathedral foundry and its workshops? How widespread was this difficult to define style which was named the Parler style after its creators? In connection with these questions, there is an attempt at exploring several issues in more depth linked with the interpretation of the architecture of the period around the year 1400 (specifically 1380-1420), this being the period of the so-called Beautiful Style. There are essential overlappings when carrying out stylistic comparisons at several points in the text. These are primarily when the preserved collection of monuments (from the listed period) are insufficient in number or when there is a distinguishable long- term shift toward imitation of certain models as well as a gradual liberalization of schemes, conceptions and principles. The analysis of the above-mentioned issues in the first chapter consists of a study of the significance of the southern tower of the cathedral, the decor of the southern facade of the cathedral and questions concerning the size of the portal (the Gold Gate), the windows...

Mašková, Jana ; Sojka, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Otavský, Karel (referee)
Název bakalářské práce v anglickém jazyce: The Tiled stoves from the nineteenth century at the Prague Castle and aristocratic settlements in Bohemia Abstract The aim of this essay is to detail a masonry stove in neo-gothic style from 19th century at the Prague Castle and aristocratic settlements in Bohemia. I also concern myself with interiors and history of stove-fitting in Czech Republic. All the rooms with the stoves used to be luxurious, comfortable, nice and warm. The main topic of my bachelor thesis is history of stoves in the Prague Castle. I describe the interesting part of Prague Castle including Old Royal Palace with its Vladislav Hall and the House of Lords with a big neo- gothic tiled stove, the only one here. The stove was created between years 1808-1836 at the time of the rule of the king Francis II. (ruling from 1792 to 1835) and the last Czech crowned Emperor Ferdinand V. Dobrotivý (ruling from 1830 to 1848). On the occasion of the coronation, which took place on the 7th September 1836 in the St. Vitus Cathedral, the Vladislav Hall and The House of Lord, the Old Royal Palace was rebuilt and decorated. I describe some of the most important moments of The Story about neo-gothic stoves from the old part of the Prague Castle as well as from another places in our country. In the next parts, I...

Malanowska, Veronika Marie ; Šmied, Miroslav (advisor) ; Sojka, Jaroslav (referee)
Extinct chapels in Kladno This bachelor thesis deals with extinct chapels in Kladno, Krocehlavy and Rozdělov and built in the early 20th century. It is the selected objects, which are in the city itself several. It focuses attention on the chapel Antonin Podlaha described in the book Sacred Places of the Kingdom of Bohemia in 1913, and reveals even a few words and another completely lost. The first chapter gives the history of the individual parts of the city, ie. Kladno, Krocehlavy and Rozdělov. With each subsequent chapter deals with a single building or complex, both from a historical site and from art historical perspective. The appearance of the chapel has not been preserved to this day, so it continues to work with old photographs and postcards, and creating a vivid picture in the context of their inhabitants, whether they were students in schools, believing in the chapels, nuns in monasteries or survivors at funerals in the hospital premises. The goal is to capture the lost wealth for which this city is often forgotten, and evaluate past and present.
