On the effect of lacquer-setting technology on the quality of a joint
Smékal, Jan ; Petrenec, Martin (referee) ; Píška, Miroslav (advisor)
The thesis is divided into two parts. At first it deals with the process of powder coating technology, gluing technology and rubber. Then the thesis continues with the experimental part, which includes process of making glued joints and evaluation of tensile test of those glued joints. The effect of lacquer-setting technology on quality of a joint cannot be reliably evaluated based on results achieved from tensile test. Analysis of results was made as well as suggestion for improvements of experiment for future thesis.
Revitalization Program of Floral Garden in Kromeriz
Smékal, Jan ; Hrabec, Josef (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor)
Revitalization ot the forland of the Flower garden in Kroměříž The subject of this project was the design of new buildings and spaces in the areal of the Flower garden in Kroměříž to meet the visitor's and staff's needs but also to create suitable environment for horticultural purposes. The main subject of interest was the creation of the new visitor's infocenter. In this building, a visitor is given information not only about the garden, but also about the building itself. Offered features here are: caffé, restaurant, restroom, exhibition hall and audiovisual center. A decent organic form was chosen as the main expression tool not only fot the infocenter building but for all other features in the garden (interior design, glasshouses..) This fully coresponds with the natural essence of the garden itself. Two glasshouses and the rabbit hill also belong among the new designed buildings. The birdhouse and the entrance building experienced their reconstruction and conversion to new facilities - the birdhouse to the caffé and the entrace buildind into the multipurpouse object with the library, study room, director's office, VIP guest rooms and the custodian's apartment.
Designing a Skyscraper for the EVOLO Skyscraper Competition 2011
Smékal, Jan ; Rosa, Martin (referee) ; Marek, Jiří (advisor)
The Monaco shore extention project consists of few housing resorts, floating breakwater, commertial zones and a harbour. The largest and most complex is the Skyscraper resort on an artificial semifloating island in the middle of a lagoon between the shore and the floating breakwater. Its main purpose is housing which is situated to several floors of the base ring, to the white wings protruding from the skyscraper and to the skyscraper itself. There is also a hotel for 500 visitors in this structure as well as the visitors center, observation platform, technical support, wellness and fit centrum. The resort is accesible via two main connecting streets – one going from the Hercule harbour, second comming to the resort from the main Monaco roundabout next to the Fairmont hotel. Traffic is than in front of the skyscraper redirected either to the hotel frontyard or to the underground parking wings for visitors, or to the parking zones for residents or to the supply zones. Other functions the resort offers are 2 commertial promenades on the gound and 2np floors accesible from the perimetr of the island’s harbour, other commertial zone is more to the the middle of the island, where the visitor, cultural, wellness and restaurant centers are also situated. The cultural multipurpose center accompanies cinema, theater and exhibition features as well as the School of fine arts. For the residents themselves the resort features several facilities – endless swimming pool, the chapel, relaxation pools, 2 parks and all the facilities accessible also for visitors. The island is constructed as semifloating – partly supperted by large piles and coissons, partly floating. Energetic selfsufficience is provided by desaltation plant, solar fotovoltaic plant, energetic piles and gray water treatment plant.

An effective cutting tool for shearing of spring wires
Smékal, Jan ; Sliwková, Petra (referee) ; Píška, Miroslav (advisor)
The goal of this master thesis was to propose modification of a cutting tool for shearing of spring wires with focus on improving its lifetime. An analysis of cutting process was made which confirmed low lifetime of lower cutting tool – average lifetime of cutting tool is 3 734 pieces. Suggestions were made in the thesis such as change of current technology, change of material of cutting tool or local change of cutting edge of the tool. Three changes were designed – insert from sintered carbide, hardfacing welding of the cutting edge and insert from high-speed steel. Testing of sintered carbide inserts ČSN ISO 513 HC – P80 and ČSN ISO 513 HC – P60 showed that sintered carbides are too brittle for cutting spring wires. Five hardfacing welding materials (HS6-5-2, HS2-9-2, X37CrMoW5-1, Stellite6 and Stellite12) have been tested. Material X37CrMoW5-1 had the best lifetime results with lifetime of 2 463 pieces. This material was further tested and average lifetime achieved was 2 021 pieces. However, there was decrease of hardness in a heat-affected zone. The last change of cutting edge was an insert from high-speed steels HS12-1-4 and HS10-4-3-10. These inserts were broken prematurely at the soldered joint and both high-speed steels exhibited cracks due to high material hardness (60 and 65 HRC), very low toughness at extremal loading.
The use of eye tracking in marketing research
Smékal, Jan ; Vranka, Marek (advisor) ; Houdek, Petr (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the use of the eye camera in marketing research. The introductory part focuses on the basics of eye physiology, which are necessary for understanding the principles of eye tracking. This is followed by an introduction to the process of measuring the path of vision, its history and the development of methods. It introduces the reader to the eye camera and its most important parameters and introduces him to examples of practical use of eye tracking in various areas. It also describes the capabilities and limitations of the eye camera, the possibilities of combination with other research methods and, last but not least, it also contains a practical demonstration of the possibilities of analysis and visualization of measured data. Then it looks at eye tracking in the context of marketing and visual perception and introduces the reader to the application of the eye camera in various areas of marketing research. The practical part aims to bring the reader closer to the practical side of eye-tracking. Through a specific example, it shows what such research looks like and what it entails. From experiment design planning to data analysis and interpretation. The research examines the general phenomenon of the influence of the direction of the model's view on the effectiveness...
