Czechoslovakia, Guatemala and Mexico in period of guatemalan revolution

This work occupies until now practically not researched relation of Czechoslovakia and Guatemala in the period of so called Guatemalan Revolution in the years 1944-1954. It also considers explaining the context of the international relations, especially of Guatemala, Mexico and the United States. The thesis in based above all on the until now unpublished archive material from the archives of Ministry of Foreign Relations of the Czech Republic, Secretary of Foreign Relations of Mexico, National Archive of the Czech Republic, and also from American Central Intelligence Agency. Czechoslovak relation with Guatemala was created already in the period in-between World Wars, when the small central European country became one of the greatest purchasers of the Guatemalan coffee. Exactly commercial interests of Czechoslovakia helped to create official diplomatic relations in this period, at which end was sealed in 1936 the commercial agreement and Guatemala bought in the same year arms in Czechoslovakia. After the end of the Second World War these relations were not renewed, however the new democratic regime of the president Arévalo had imminent interest to renew this relationship and as gesture of good will still recognized the commercial agreement from 1936, although in had not been actualized. Assessment of U.S. and Mexican strategies to combat the drug trade

Primasová Rachel Abstrakt The drug trade between Mexico and the US is an important issue. With Barack Obama's era, the perception of the drug trade has been changed. Obama chose to look at this problem as a health issue. His attitude was distributed via the National drug control. However, at the end of his presidency strategy's goals had not been fulfilled and numbers of overdose deaths have been increasing as well as the number of addicted people. In Mexico, Felipe Calderón chose a strongly repressive attitude via the National development plan. His attitude became the "drug war" that caused violence in the street and led to the extension of the conflict. Next president Enrique Peña Nieto promised to take a step back to peace. But in the end, mortality raised to the maximum and the drug trade continued to be a great security problem. Both the US and the Mexican strategies failed to fulfil their goals due to not approaching the drug trade as a complex issue and disregarding changing circumstances. Latinos for Trump: Presidential Elections 2020

Diploma thesis is focused on the support of Latinos voters for Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election. Hispanics in general are more supporters of the Democratic Party, so the increased support for Donald Trump proclaimed in media after the election has been surprising for many experts and public especially regarding Trump's rhetoric and his attacks on some Hispanic prominent figures. In the thesis, I discuss whether Donald Trump gained more Latinos support in the election. I argue that Donald Trump gained more Latino support in the election. The thesis is confirmed in the theoretical and practical part based on an analysis of composition of the Hispanic electorate, pre-election, and post-election surveys and through the analysis of counties with at least 70% concentration of Hispanic population. The thesis also deals with Donald Trump's election campaign and the motivation of Latinos to vote for the Republican candidate. Donald Trump tried to reach out Hispanic voters more than in 2016 through greater funding of political spots, greater representation of Latinos in the election team, debates targeting Latinos voters and other initiatives. Guatemala under the rule of Efraín Ríos Montt and its coming to terms with the past

One of the most violent periods of the Guatemalan civil war was the government of General Efraín Ríos Montt in the early 1980s, which went down in history with the sad legacy of genocide, large-scale displacement and other war crimes. Most of them have never been investigated or punished. The breakthrough of impunity was the accession of Claudia Paz y Paz to the head of the public prosecutor's office. Trial with Ríos Montt became the most exposed one. Despite the subsequent annulment of the incriminating verdict, this process was an important milestone in Guatemalan justice, but also in international law, contributing several key precedents. Ríos Montt became the first head of state to be convicted of genocide by a domestic tribunal. This work deals with the factors that influenced the war crimes prosecutions after the signing of peace agreements and analyzes the importance of the trial of Ríos Montt in the Guatemalan coming to terms with the past by the state.
