Analysis of drug residues in waters from small wastewater treatment plants

This diploma thesis is focused on the analysis of pharmaceuticals residues in wastewater from wastewater treatment plants used for smaller sources of pollution (up to 2000 population equivalent). Pharmaceuticals entering the environment are a highly discussed topic, especially due to the emergence of antibiotic resistance, negative effects on non-target organisms, vegetation etc. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with smaller wastewater treatment plants or root sewage treatment plants, which achieve excellent results in the field of organic pollution removal. It deals with their detailed description, functioning or division. Attention is paid to pharmaceuticals in general, mechanisms of their removal and methods of their determination in wastewater. In total of 24 drugs from the group of beta-blockers, macrolide antibiotics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antiepileptics, antidepressants and sulfonamides were selected for analysis. In the experimental part of this diploma thesis, wastewater samples were taken from domestic wastewater treatment plants (type AT 6, AT 12 Plus, AT 30 and AT 150) and from the root sewage treatment plant of Dražovice. The samples were first processed using optimized extraction method (solid phase extraction) and then analyzed using optimized UPLC-ESI-MS method. The presence of pharmaceuticals residues was confirmed in all analysed wastewater. The highest concentrations were detected for the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory pharmaceuticals – ibuprofen and diclofenac.

Marketing of real estate sales

The aim of this Bachelor Thesis is to suggest ways for improvement of customer satisfaction while using marketing methods and methods of market research. Further aims are findings of how to proceed with the refurbishment of a house or an apartment prior to its sale and finding the best ways of advertising and selling property. Last but not least is a survey of customer preferences in buying land, family house or apartment building. Whole thesis is divided into two parts – theoretical and practical. The first part explains the nature of marketing, its development, basic principles and concepts. Those are practically applied in the second part while using methods of sales marketing. Conclusion of this thesis is summarising suggestions for communication improvement in the real estate agency, suggestions for improvement of sales linked to a refurbishment of property and analysis of sales.

The Municipal Library of Frýdek-Místek

Bachelor thesis focuses on creating an architectural study of the municipal library for Frýdek-Místek - the developing city with potential for the future. The proposed building should not only serve as a place for books storage, but primarily as a place for interaction of locals dwellers and visitors. The architectural study offers a view of a simple open arrangement using light and the appropriate building materials, as well as the latest library technology of the 21st century.

Study of micropolutant removal at the root sewage treatment plant

This bachelor thesis focuses in the theoretical part on explaining the concept of a root sewage treatment plant. There is also a more detailed description of these root sewage treatment plants functioning. Attention is paid to the phases of root sewage treatment plants, their basic functional principles, vegetation, selected pharmaceuticals and methods of their determination. In the experimental part, samples of wastewater from the root sewage treatment plant in Dražovice in Vyškov District, were processed. Eight selected drugs (atenolol, azithromycin, diclofenac, ibuprofen, carbamazepine, clarithromycin, sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) were monitored in wastewater. These drugs were isolated from wastewater by solid phase extraction and then a method for identification and quantification was used – liquid chromatography with mass detection.

A town-hall in Kopřivnice

Objective of the Master thesis is a design of an adaptation and an activation of townhall building situated in the centre of Kopřivnice town. Location of the project is a site of trapezoidal shape slightly tilted towards railways on Štefánikova street. The design aspires to create a sufficient working space for townhall employees and at the same time to produce a space suitable for living, work and activities sought-after by a younger generation especially. Design of the multifunctional house offers start-up and communal housing (so called co-living) of 1+kk to 4+kk dispositions and a coworking space. The townhall’s layout is designed according to current trends in public administration with emphasis on openness, hospitability and consideration to citizens. Multi-purpose hall, completing the entire design, is above all supposed to serve as citizen assembly tool. Parking is provided by a current parking lot and a parking house. Design of the spatial layout creates static composition of buildings, which completes the distinctive townhall construction.

Representation of Gay and Bisexual Women in Video Games and Players' Attitudes: An Empirical Study

The aim of this empirical study was to examine how players' explicit and implicit attitudes towards content depicted in a video game influence their interaction with the game and their game experience. In order to do so, this study examined a particular case of a video game representing gay and bisexual women. The primary aim was to investigate how players' game engagement is influenced by the topic portrayed and by their attitudes towards gay and bisexual women. The secondary aim was to explore the players' implicit and explicit attitude change towards gay and bisexual women as a result of playing the game. This study used an experimental and a control condition, with two versions of one game differing only in the identity of one character - in the experimental version she is a lesbian and in the control version a heterosexual woman. The modification of the game was a part of the thesis. Participants' implicit and explicit pretest and posttest attitudes were measured, and their game engagement was measured in the posttest. Results showed lower game engagement in the experimental compared to the control group, however, no link between initial attitudes and game engagement was found. A model inspection/visualization tool for brain simulation framework.

Simulations of biological neural networks are an important tool for under- standing how the brain processes information. Mozaik is a workflow frame- work that allows such simulations to be created, run and analyzed. Currently, however, there is no easy way to visualize in it either the network or the data structures created by individual analyses. This work is a web application that allows users to visualize networks and data structures stored in data- stores for individual simulations. The given visualizations can be searched using complex queries, interactively examined and compared with each other. This makes the work of researchers working with the Mozaik framework much more efficient.

Procedural Generator of Short Detective-like Stories

Procedural generation of interactive stories is still an understudied area, most of the work on which is purely academic, while the application of these technologies in a practical, for a wide audience, area promises good prospects. The reason lies in a large set of factors that complicate the practical use of such systems. In this work, we solve some of them by proposing a new algorithm for this, with the help of which we create a system that generates interactive stories. We visualize the narratives of these stories, and on their basis we create a text quest on the Twine platform.

EdLab - web application for management of online courses

The field of education is rapidly evolving, with distance learning becoming an incre- asingly popular method of teaching. With the advent of technology, teachers are seeking effective ways to educate their students even without physical presence. In this bachelor's thesis, we are developing a web application that will allow teachers to create their own online educational courses. The proposed web application will provide teachers with a user-friendly interface for creating and customizing courses according to their specific needs and preferences. Tea- chers will be able to easily design course content, divide the course into chapters, incor- porate interactive components, and much more. The application will create an interactive learning environment for both students and the wider public involved in the course "AI v kontextu", which is the focus of this project. The flexibility of the application will allow students to choose when and where they participate in the course, while the pace of acquiring knowledge will adapt to their individual learning speed. The attractiveness of studying is enhanced by the ability to engage in shared activities such as polling, verifying acquired knowledge, and receiving feedback through knowledge quizzes.
