The impact of digestate fertilisation on the structure of yield and selected qualitative indicators of potatoes.
Polák, Miloslav ; Hamouz, Karel (advisor) ; Pavel, Pavel (referee)
The thesis studies the effect of digestate fertilisers on the structure of yield, starch content and scab of potato tubers. The introduction outlines the problems of potato fertilisation, including the existing knowledge on the fertilisation by digestate. The subsequent, experimental part was executed in the form of a field experiment in SENAGRO Senožaty a.s. This enterprise produces table potatoes for TESCO chain of supermarkets. The company was interested in using the waste material (digestate) from biogas station as efficiently as possible and tried to use it as a dose of nitrogen under potatoes. The company uses the technology of destoning with a line width of 90 cm. The experiment was carried out in such a way to enable to determine the effectiveness of digestate as a substitute for the usual N fertiliser for potatoes. It was based on three variants: Variant A. Ammonium sulphate applied areally before destoning and 15-15-15 local application of NPK fertiliser (in total dose of 100 kg N/ha). Variant B. Ammonium sulphate + NPK + DAM 390 applied during vegetation on 27th May 2015 (in total dose of 120 kg N/ha). Variant C. Digestate in quantity of 120 kg N/ha. Early to midseason Luciana variety was used in the experiment. In compliance with the methodology, before the harvest I dag away the bushes to find out the level of yielding elements. I took samples that were evaluated in terms of starch content in Vesa Velhartice, and personally examined the scab of potato tubers. On the basis of statistical evaluation of the examined variants (executed at the Department of Crop Production), I reached the following findings: Compared to the usual variants of N fertilisation, digestate fertilisation of potatoes did not have any statistically significant effect on the weight of tubers under one bush or the weight of table potatoes. Compared to the control variants of N fertilisation, digestate fertilisation did not influence verifiably the total number of tubers per one bush or the number of table potatoes per one bush. In terms of the effect on the average weight of one potato, the variant with the application of digestate fully equalled, or even exceeded, the experimental variants of mineral N fertilisation. It is therefore possible to say that in terms of yield, this type of fertilisation can serve as a substitute of fertilisation by nitrate and mineral fertilisers. Starch content and scab of potato tubers were not demonstrably influenced by digestate fertilising compared to traditional N fertilisation. In conclusion, I would like to point out that the experiment has been carried out only for one year and its results cannot be generalised yet. That is why I recommend to continue in the experiment also in the future years. In my opinion, digestate and the problem with its application is becoming an increasingly pressing theme. If experiments carried out for several years prove that the result of its application is positive to potatoes, digestate, in my opinion, will again have broader possibilities of use and we can count with it as a full-value fertiliser also in the future. Nutrition, Healt and Welfare of Big Cats bred in Private Famrs
Odehnalová, Kristýna ; Lukešová, Daniela (advisor) ; Pavel, Pavel (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the big cats, which are included in the family Felidae. The main aim of this work was to evaluate differences in nutrition exotic animals kept in private farms in the Czech Republic and specimens in the wild and to determine the conditions of animal welfare and animal health protection. The literature search was the work dealt with the general characteristics, taxonomy and expansion of populations of CITES animals in the wild, the anatomy of the digestive tract and individual nutrients which should be administered feline type of ration to prevent their health problems. In the next part of the thesis analysed case studies from five different private farms in the Czech Republic. The results showed that the number of breeders of exotic big cats in the ration served raw pork and beef on the bone, with the addition of bio-feed (whole animals) to ensure efficient digestive process. However, due to lack of movement of such beasts in runs and poor nutrition ration, were demonstrated common symptoms of obesity and other different health problems for these felines. Their offspring were susceptible to various etiological agents, with subsequent symptoms of the disease, therefore it was necessary to enrich their ration sufficient amounts of vitamins and minerals. It can conclude that the breeders of exotic beasts in private farms should pay close attention to ensure a balanced diet and especially more space for movement and daily activities (enrichment) animals, which could lead to the provision of suitable breeding conditions and animal health.

Application of perennials in a system of vertical garden
Kozderová, Viola ; Matiska, Pavel (advisor) ; Pavel, Pavel (referee)
The thesis Application of perennials in a system of vertical garden aims to verify the cultivation of selected assortments of perennials which are planted in vertical exterior walls with substrate technology. Another aim is to suggest and recommend new taxa for further cultivation on these walls. The literary research part presents the basic concepts which explain the term perennial. Perennials are divided into several categories depending on their demands for the habitat with the purpose to understand the varied character of their growth and the differences between the individual species. Furthermore, the thesis includes a chapter on vertical gardens, whose founder is believed to be the French botanist Patrick Blanc. He was the first to have presented his green wall Mur végétal in France. Facade greening is more widely spread abroad (e.g. in France, Singapore or London) thanks to the favourable climatic conditions. This form of plant cultivation is being attempted in the Czech Republic and new species of perennials which would thrive in the local climate are being tested. Testing of perennials was carried out on five vertical walls on the estate belonging to the test station of the faculty of gardening in Troja, Prague. The walls were marked with letters and stationed according to sun exposure intensity (A shadow, B, C, D sunlight, E direct sunlight). A new assortment of perennials was planted on walls A and B. Previously tested species were used on wall C and the plants were set in an ornament. Walls D and E had already been planted. All the walls were regularly monitored three or four times per month. Over the course of the observation, regular watering and maintenance of the perennials were carried out (e.g. weeding, cutting and chemical treatment). Assessment of the plants was carried out based on a scale of 1 to 5 points and the criteria included colouring, habitus, vitality and overall aesthetic appeal of the plants. Points for the individual species of perennials tested on walls A, B, D and E were counted and the ones with the highest amount of points (60% and more) are suitable for planting on vertical walls. Wall C was assessed by 50 evaluators using a questionnaire the overall aesthetic appeal of the wall was evaluated. The results briefly describe the advantages and disadvantages of the individual species of perennials depending on their development during the observed period. Furthermore, a list of species suitable for planting on vertical walls is created based on the points acquired. These species are also graphically depicted based on the aesthetic appeal of the plant over the observed period. The first six places comprise the perennials Bergenia cordifolia (198 p.), Carex comans (187 p.), Epimedium x versicolor Sulphureum (171 p.), Cerastium biebersteinii (222 p.), Lewisia cotyledon (210 p.) and Festuca scoparia (207 p.). The discussion deals with the issue of vertical gardens and cultivation of perennials which commonly grow in shallow soil profile. In conclusion, species which can be grown on vertical exterior walls with substrate technology were identified in the assortment of selected perennials. These species are indicated in the results.
Evaluation of varietal characteristics of Heuchera hybridy
Calta, Martin ; Matiska, Pavel (advisor) ; Pavel, Pavel (referee)
The aim of the work of the "Evaluation of varietal characteristics od Coral Bells" is to approach the issue of growing these plants, and the comparison of varietal characteristics of Coral Bells examined in the Botanical Garden in Troja. The total was 36 taxa (Heuchera) in the Botanic Garden in Troja. In plants, these characters were recorded: height of tuft, width of tuft, length of leaf, the leaf width, the leaf color, shape of the leaf, the length of the inflorescence, the color of flowers and flowering time. The plants were shot and monitored (including measurements) from March to November every month (in May and June data was collected twice a month). Varietal characteristics of Coral Bells were evaluated according to all the parameters and then the information were compared with the literature. It was found that the most common plant height is 201 - 350 mm. The most of Coral Bells blooms in May and the most common color is white. The most of Coral Bells has green coloring leafs. It was also found, and confirmed from the literature that the red flowering Coral Bells require a rather sunny habitat than shady. On the contrary, Coral Bells with white flower require shading. The result of the Bachelor thesis is gathering information from different sources and from his own observations and subsequent comparison of these data. Charts and tables embedded in the work can be used when designing the beds on the basis of the parameters.
