Toušová, Simona ; Veselý, Arnošt (advisor) ; Mouralová, Magdalena (referee)
Diploma thesis "Leisure time (current situation analysis of the content and spending the leisure time among youth in the Czech republic)" is focused on the approach of the youth to the leisure time and highlighting the importance of leisure time activities for successful personal growth. In the theoretical part, I define what the leisure time is and specify terms used for youth and education in the leisure time. I describe functions and purposes of the leisure time, the importance of the content of the leisure time, factors influencing the selection of leisure time activities and I mention some approaches used in other countries. Further I describe the development of the youth policy in the Czech republic, the role of the state in the youth policy, the legislative amendments and contextual strategic documents connected with the youth policy. In the analytic part I have used current empiric researches and analysed PISA 2003 data using SPSS. The aim is to answer three questions. How do the youth people spend their leisure time? Is there a selective approach? If yes, what are the reasons? Is there enough institutions providing leisure time activities in the Czech republic? I have also analysed state institutions and bodies related to the youth in the Czech republic and analysing all providers of...
Debt counselling and its availability for migrants in Prague
Kruková, Sarah ; Jelínková, Marie (advisor) ; Mouralová, Magdalena (referee)
The steadily growing number of migrants in the Czech Republic results in an increase of foreigners participating in the labour market. The current issue of growing debts of migrants is not being properly discussed in czech society among experts and the general public. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out in what quantity, content and quality is debt counselling available for migrants in Prague. Using qualitative and supporting quantitative research, the result data show the impact of debt counseling on migrants in the territory of Prague. Debt counseling has a positive effect on the lives of migrants seeking help. At the same time it helps to solve their debt problems. On the other hand, there are barriers connected to debt counseling: insufficient capacity of counseling centers, small amount of available information and diversity of counseling centres. Mentioned barriers can be prevented with the creation of new information sources and expanding language availability.
Content analysis of Teachers' newspaper: View of parents in education
Nerad, Jáchym ; Mouralová, Magdalena (advisor) ; Gargulák, Karel (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on different views of parents' role in education. It draws on the previous research of parents' involvement in education and develops the research further through an analysis of a specialized periodical. More specifically, it focuses on how the authors of Teachers' Newspaper perceived the parents' role between 2003-2013. To achieve this objective, it adopts the method of frame analysis which examines highlighting of various aspects of observed reality in texts. In this case, the frame analysis of Teachers' Newspaper explores different aspects of authors' experience with parents made salient in their texts. The frame analysis uses the concepts of parents' role in education as frames and examines presence of such framing in the texts. The frame analysis was enhanced by the identification of recurring themes the authors attributed to parents. The identified themes were used to describe different types of framing. The analysis discovered framing of parents as educational partners, customers, problems and social partners. The analysis did not, however, reveal any presence of framing parents as citizens. On the other hand, the analysis showed presence of other, previously undefined frames. These are parents as determinants, engagement targets, and debate participants.
Institutionalized Free Schooling in the Czech Education System
Švábová, Kristina ; Mouralová, Magdalena (advisor) ; Černý, Jakub (referee)
The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to contribute to the understanding of the phenomenon of the so-called "free schools" in the Czech Republic. These schools practice the principles of free schooling which has a long tradition abroad in schools, such as Summerhill School or Sudbury Valley School. However, in the Czech Republic these schools have only now begun to emerge and as such have not been thoroughly studied, yet. This thesis is a case study of two Czech free schools. It describes how the schools' values manifest in the school documentation and, using the theory of accountability, it explores how the values are harmonized with the expectations of other actors, chiefly the Czech School Inspectorate. It is found that the Czech education system is open to many of these values. Nevertheless, in some areas disputes arise. The full realization of the values is hindered especially due to compulsory school attendance, statutory requirements in the curriculum and evaluation. In the thesis, the actors' attitudes towards the Czech education system are explored, as well. It is discovered that each school has developed its own approach. One of them takes a 'pessimistic' stand as the school employees do not believe a consensus with the state is possible, whereas the other one is more 'optimistic' and...
