Drivers of Income Inequality in China
Chen, Xiao ; Kolář, Daniel (advisor) ; Semerák, Vilém (referee)
This thesis uses an empirical approach to examine the drivers of income inequality in China, assuming income inequality to be a linear function of logarithmic per capita income, the educational inequality as well as the percentage of population below secondary, completing secondary, and completing tertiary education. It suggests that growing income inequality is correlated to rising per capita income and educational inequality, utilizing a micro survey data set of 25 provinces from 2010 to 2016 with a one-year gap using the static fixed effects and random effects estimators, as well as a dynamic generalized method of moments estimator. In contrast, the percentage of population completing secondary education has a negative effect. The weighting factors ensure that the data set is representative, and robust and sensitivity tests are applied. The comparison of the EU and China's results shows the features of developed and emerging economies. Wage discrimination of the European players in the NHL
Pavlovský, Jakub ; Červinka, Michal (advisor) ; Kolář, Daniel (referee)
This thesis analyses the wage discrimination against the European players in the National Hockey League (NHL). There were some results in the past litera- ture acknowledging the existence of discrimination in the NHL. The main goal of this thesis is to examine the discrimination in the NHL using new data from season 2020-2021. Another goal is to extend past literature by including the models for goalkeepers because they were omitted in most of the literature, and by using modern advanced statistics to better analyse the players' skills. The method used to analyse the relationship between dependent and independent variables is linear regression. OLS is used to estimate the coefficients of the created models. The estimation of the created models arrives at an unexpected conclusion. There is no discrimination against European or Russian skaters in the NHL. But there is positive discrimination against Russian goalkeepers in the league. Enterprise support process
Kolář, Daniel ; Söhnel, Jan (referee) ; Juřica, Pavel (advisor)
The subject of this bachelor thesis is the analysis of the recruitment process with a focus on human resource management in the production company EXCALIBUR AMRY spol. a.s., improving the recruitment process with a new way of working with students and improving the occupancy of unpopular positions in the company. The whole work consists of three main parts, the first part contains the theoretical background needed to write the work, in the second part we can meet the analysis of the environment and specific problems and in the third phase we can find a proposal to improve the bottleneck to streamline society.
Repealing NAFTA: The impact on international trade with focus on Mexico
Kolář, Daniel ; Semerák, Vilém (advisor) ; Cazachevici, Alina (referee)
The North American Free Trade Agreement came into force in 1994 after long and emotive discussions. When Donald Trump became the US president in 2016, its future became uncertain, which motivates this paper to attempt to quantify the impact of its repeal. To do that, it uses a standard GTAP general equilibrium model and models an increase of intra-NAFTA tariffs to the derived MFN rates. It finds that NAFTA repeal would notably reduce intra-NAFTA trade and have a modest but negative impact on countries' welfare. NAFTA repeal is estimated to decrease Canadian GDP by 0.48%, US GDP by 0.39% and Mexican GDP by 0.06%. It would severely damage US-Mexico value chains and increase income inequality in Mexico by hurting unskilled workers more. Additional simulations are performed to control for variation in sectoral MFN rates and to observe the sensitivity of results to the choice of closure. The only positive of NAFTA repeal is that it might mitigate regional economic disparities in Mexico by damaging sectors concentrating their production near the US-Mexico border. 1
Lexical elements of National Socialist language and their lexicographic treatment
Kolář, Daniel ; Vachková, Marie (advisor) ; Hejhalová, Věra (referee)
This thesis deals with lexical elements of National Socialist language and its aim is to study their lexicographic treatment. The theoretical part first of all sketches the elementary historical connection among language, lexicography and the political regime and it explains the effect of the politics on language through three historical examples, among which the language of the Third Reich is the most important one. As far as the language of the Third Reich is concerned, the attitudes of the NSDAP to language and language maintenance are further explained. The theoretical part is concluded by characterization and overview of the most important lexicographic projects which were implemented during the National Socialism. The practical part focuses on the contemporary lexicographic treatment of certain chosen lexemes which were mostly used during the period of National Socialism. This treatment is mostly based on the comparison of their past and their contemporary meanings and their representation in the contemporary discourse. The various types of discourse are analyzed by the corpus methods developed at the Institute of German Language in Mannheim.
The Effect of Socio-Demographic Factors on Consumer Trends in the Czech Republic
Čechová, Tereza ; Šťastná, Lenka (advisor) ; Kolář, Daniel (referee)
The thesis examines the potential effects of various socio-demographic determinants on consumer trends in the Czech market over the years 2009- 2019. We use data from the agency Median, s.r.o., which has been researching consumer behavior since 1993. This work analyzes dependent categorical variables that define potential consumer trends and represent answers of respondents or households. We utilized an ordinal logistic regression for the analysis, which we subsequently tested by Brant's test. Statistically significant results from the models are similar to the results in previous studies. Specifically, during the years 2009-2019, the interest in recycling increases, people tend to buy organic food more often, and spending on Czech products decreases slightly (especially in 2018 and 2019), and people tend to spend more money on vacation. For example, the bachelor thesis shows that women have a greater tendency to buy organic products and Czech food than men and, at the same time, recycle more often than men. Furthermore, new variables are examined in regards to observed trends. Such variables are the number of persons employed in the household and the ABCDE classification. Overall, the main contributions of this thesis are Czech consumer preferences and trends over eleven years and detailed...

Komplexní zhodnocení současného stavu a péče o maloplošná zvláště chráněná území CHKO Poodří
Kolář, Daniel
ABSTRACT Daniel Kolář Title: Complementary evaluation of the current state and care of small-scale protected area of the PLA Poodří This thesis deals with assessment and evaluation of state and care of 15 structurally diverse small scale specially protected landscape areas (SPLA) under the PLA Poodří authority, applying the Methodology of Evaluation of Small-scale Specially Protected Landscape Areas (Svátek and Buček 2005). In terms of the final evaluation, the current state of the SPLAs has been defined as good in the case of 10 SPLAs as average in the case of 4 SPLAs and has been defined as bad in the case of 1 SPLAs . The assessed care has been defined as good in the case of 9 SPLAs, as average in the case of 5 SPLAs, and as poor in one case (it is a comparative evaluation of an area which was excluded from the list of SPLAs of the PLA Poodří a year ago). The thesis deals with and suggests partial measures and remedies concerning preservation or improvement of the state and care of the protected areas in question. In the conclusion, the thesis assesses and evaluates the complementary analysis of the state and care of small-scale SPLA administrated by PLA Poodří.
