Music as a Significant Means for Speech Cultivation in Pre-School Children

This dissertation of an interdisciplinary character involves music education, music psychology, linguistics and special education. In the theoretical part of the thesis the author explains the term timbre from the musicological and linguistic perspective; characterizes timbre hearing as a musical hearing ability; introduces and compares timbre and phonemic hearing tests; describes the development of musicality and speech of pre-school children from an ontogenetic perspective, and emphasizes hearing atten- tion as a prerequisite for their advancement. The author also characterizes disruption of these abilities and describes reeducation therapies that involve elements of music education and mu- sic therapy. A field study described in the practical part of the thesis has a form of fundamental research and experiment. Research participants were 180 pre-school children. A field study is addressing the relationship between speech and musical manifestations of pre-school children with atypi- cal speech development. The aim of the experiment was to search for the most effective com- bination of music and language education with positive influence on both musicality and speech. Tale as a musical integrativ project for preschoolers and their parents (creation, authentication, methodological ideas into practice)

Author's fairy tale with a musical theme as a means to improve cooperation and kindergarten is the main aim of the thesis. The musical development of the child until the end of the preschool age and its subsequent response opens the theoretical part, musical ability - characteristics, creativity, integration of musical abilities, integrative design, and creative dramatics conclude the theoretical part, which will be followed by a practical part. The practical part will consist of architectural scenario where a subsequent analysis of the Copyright scenarios, questionnaires, interviews and observations will serve as a result of the thesis.
Musical activities in the development of graphomotor skills during the lateralization of preschool children

The subject of the thesis is the use of musical activities in the development of graphomotor skills of preschool children. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to the problem of harmonization of music and movement at the level of gross and fine motor skills. It also deals with the issue of laterality and its distinctness. The practical part contains a detailed case study of a boy with a disadvantageous type of laterality and follows the development of his graphomotor skills during 15 lessons, the core of which are musical activities for the development of graphomotor skills of preschool children. I used multiple complementary research methods in the in-depth case study, which were participant observation, mother interview, open-ended questionnaire, family and personal history, and PPP report. The action research was conducted over a ten-month period, with the boys being 4 years and 3 months old at the start of the research. The practical part of the thesis analyses the action research data and evaluates the overall impact of specific musical activities in the development of preschool children's graphomotor skills.
The rythmic feeling of preschool children and the music component of the Good start method

This diploma thesis deals with the development of the rhythmic feeling of children aged 5-7 years in connection with the music element of The Good Start Method. The aim of the diploma thesis is to present the issue of connecting psychology and music for the use in pedagogy, with emphasis on The Good Start Method. Using my own research, i evaluate its theoretical basis, practical use and point out its problematic parts and try to find a possible improvement of this method. The theoretical part deals with the description of the use of the rhythmic element of music in accordance with the development of children's motor skills and the related development of their rhythmic feelings. It also focuses on a specific methodological approach to the development of musical abilities and related motor and graphomotor skills. The work is explicitly focused on the Czech version of The Good Start Method. This section focuses on the description and objectives of this method and it also presents its pitfalls, which are further mentioned and discussed in the empirical part of the work. Musical Activities In The International Pre-Schools in Prague

This work analyses music activities of English-speaking children of pre-school age, attending international schools in Prague, following the British Curricula. The goal of this work is to develop and to validate teaching materials of musical activities, supporting children with different native languages from the language of the teaching material, those in transition period, and those with communication barriers, and to offer concrete implementation strategies for teachers of music in both Czech and international schools. The theoretical part compares Czech and British music curricula for pre-school children. It defines terms such as transition period and describes its course in Czech and international environments. Furthermore, it addresses the role of music during this stage of development and explains the concepts of project-based learning and music integration project. As theoretical underpinning for the practical portion, the work offers detailed discussion of musical factors, syllabic structure both in English and Czech language, and the variations in interpretation of musical fairy tales. How to use a project called "School of Songs" in Kindergartens

The diploma thesis focuses on targeted use of authorial songs from the project "School of Songs" to interconnect all educational areas in kindergarten with the emphasis on children's own creativity. The theoretical part deals with important developmental aspects of pre-school and primary school children, focuses on musical activities and how to integrate musical education in kindergartens. Diploma thesis also looks closely on the musical project "School of Songs", originally intended for children of younger school age. Furthermore it introduces a follow-up project "School of Song to Kindergartens", reworked with the benefit of preschool children with regard to their developmental specifics. The practical part focuses on verifying the benefits of the project "School of Songs to kindergartens". The songs were incorporated into the school educational program, a new didactic material was created, implemented and verified in 59 kindergartens over the two years period. The aim of this thesis is to verify the methodological material from the project "School of Songs to kindergartens" in kindergarten Tolstého, located in Prague 10 and in other kindergartens from various locations in the Czech Republic.
