The Issue of Quality of Work Life Application in Organizations

The thesis focuses on factors, that impact on the application of quality of work life concept in organizations. The theoretical part contains specification of the term "quality of work life", and some of its conceptions are introduced. The aim of following chapter is the issue of applying component dimensions of Walton's concept, and furthermore selected organizational and work factors and their influence on the quality of work life of employees are described. The practical part is focused on proposal of creation of questionnaire, which surveys objective and subjective factors affecting the application of quality of work life in organizations.
Psychological and social attributes of supported employment regarding employers and employees of companies where it is provided

Supported Employment is one of the main tools of active labour market policies for the people who are disadvantaged or with disabilities. It aims to aid people are disadvantaged when finding employment themselves, provides assistance when looking for and choosing the right employment and with preparations for its execution, facilitation of the first contact with employer and colleagues, and ongoing support not only to the person with disability, but also to his colleagues and superiors who will be in contact with him. The thesis focuses on the issue of supported employment and its relation to diversity management, which covers the topic of management of employing the minorities and disadvantaged groups. From this perspective the thesis discusses the attitudes and prejudices, that often pose a barier to supported employment and effective interaction of people with disabilities and without. Research aims to explore these attitudes and to explore the support, that employers and employees working in the companies there the supported employment takes place are provided. Difficulties in career decision making

The theoretical part of this diploma thesis consists of four basic areas which are crucial for better understanding of profession choice difficulties and subsequently provides an introduction to the second part of the thesis - the empirical part. In the first chapter, the reader will be informed about the definition of the profession choice, its historical development, which covers a pretty wide context, in which the profession choice is being accomplished. The following chapter deals with career development theories focusing on personality, development theories targeting career and theories solely focused on social influences effecting the career development. The last two chapters deal with an adolescence period which plays the key role in the further career path of the individual. There is also a chapter describing and sorting difficulties while choosing a profession. The aim of the empirical part is to describe the development of profession choice difficulties at the end of secondary education - the period of life which is considered by many authors to be vitally important for the adolescent profession development. Selected aspects of employee development in international organization

In this thesis the attention is given to selected aspects of employee development in the international organization operating in the steel industry, which has a branch in Slovakia. The theoretical part explains the various theoretical concepts that bind to this topic (for example. Human resources, human resources management, competencies), as well as individual learning concepts which are creating a platform for employee development and also the different phases development and training in organization. This topic is very up-to-date in the light of increasing demand for staff across the whole spectrum of professions. The empirical part is directed to clarify the course of development in international organizations, where great importance emphasis is placed on language learning (especially English) and training in the field of management training, particularly to develop the presentation skills. In this part of the research results indicate that individual groups of employees are after completing the course improving the level of English language at the required level, as well as valuation of the self level of presentation skills. Significant factors of quality of working life in terms of management in the nonprofit sector

This thesis deals with the issue of quality of work life (QWL), namely the important factors of QWL in terms of the management of non-governmental organizations (NGO). Perception of QWL has a positive effect on job satisfaction, personal well-being and job performance (its productivity and quality). The aim of this mapping study is to determine the important factors of QWL from the subjective perspective. Expert semistructured interviews were used for this purpose. The results indicate that the identified factors are identical with QWL mentioned by individual authors and institutions. The following factors were identified: absence of stress, interpersonal relationships in the workplace, support from the organization, evaluation of work, working environment. The positively evaluated factors include good relations in the workplace, need and utility of service, and self-actualization. The problematic working factors are financial conditions, obligations arising from the legislative framework, uncertainty about the sustainability of services, view of society and the low level of spatial facilities. Rigorózní práce v teoretické části pracovně vymezuje pojem personální psychologie, neboť cílem práce je identifikovat roli a uplatnění personální psychologie v oblasti výběru pracovníků a v oblasti zprostředkování zaměstnání. Na základě vymezení p ojmu personálního výběru jako komplexního procesu a diferenciace druhů personálního výběru identifikuje potenciální roli personální psychologie v procesu výběru pracovníka. Současně na základě vymezení pojmu zprostředkování pracovního uplatnění, určení fun kce, možností a limitů Úřadu práce a vymezení pojmu Bilanční diagnostika jako komplexního poradenského systému uplatňovaném mj. v praxi Úřadu práce identifikuje potenciální roli personální psychologie v procesu zprostředkování zaměstnání. Quality of working life related to human resources activities

This thesis analyses the concept of quality of working life related to human resources activities. In the theoretical part, key concepts and related terms are introduced. Then different approaches and categorisations are stated. Individual human resources activities contributing to quality of working life as introduced by Walton are described in the following subchapters. Several examples of research approaches related to quality of working life are stated as well as different means of evaluating and measuring quality of working life. The practical part consists of a research design leading to a questionnaire development measuring quality of working life according to Walton's factors, which were described in detail in the theoretical part.

Attitude of managers to changes in organization and the causes of concerns and of refusing the changes

The topic of the thesis is the managers' attitude and reactions to changes in organization, the causes of concerns and refusing changes. The level of organizational hierarchy chosen is the middle management level. The theoretical part provides introduction to the subject of organizational changes and than focuses particularly on the process of implementing the changes and the impact it has on the participants. It describes how the organizational changes affect its' individual participants and is followed by the largest part of the thesis, which focuses on the role of the middle management in processes related to the organizational changes. The work focuses on the description of the middle managers' positions and their attitude. One chapter presents the managerial resistance to organizational changes. The second part of the thesis presents a proposal for a research project which aims to identify the roles of middle managers in the change process and in particular on identifying the causes of concerns and refusing changes.
