Development of children's communication skills as a part of school maturity and readiness during COVID-19 pandemic

This thesis addresses preschool education in the COVID-19 pandemic from a speech therapy perspective. The aim was to determine whether the pandemic affects the development of communication skills in children's school maturity and readiness. For the research, a quantitative method was used. A sample of 50 respondents from kindergartens in the Vysočina region completed a self-administered questionnaire to provide data for this work. The research sample was teachers of children with compulsory school attendance. The research found that the number of deferrals of compulsory school attendance is higher in the school year 2020/2021 than in previous years. The root causes cited by the respondents were psychological immaturity, including impaired communication skills. It was also found that for more than half of the respondents, children in the classroom have the same difficulties in communication skills as in previous years, yet 92% of teachers admitted that the educational objectives in the field of communication, according to the Framework Education Programme for Preschool Education, were not met in the 2020/2021 school year. Communication between persons with aphasia and healthcare professionals

Diploma thesis deals with communication between persons with aphasia and healthcare professionals. The thesis consists of four chapters, three of which are theoretical. Research is included in the fourth chapter. Aphasia is defined and classified in the first theoretical chapter. The second chapter deals with a multidisciplinary team involving in the rehabilitation of persons with aphasia and with the individual role of healthcare professionals from the team. It also deals with diagnostics and the therapy of aphasia in acute, subacute and chronic stadium. Communication with persons with aphasia and its specifics are described in the third chapter. The main objective of diploma thesis was to find out how communication between persons with aphasia and healthcare professionals in healthcare facilities takes place according to experience of persons with aphasia and healthcare professionals as well. Possibilities of acquiring of reading with comprehension in children with specific language impairment

The topic of the thesis is the development of the reading comprehension in children with specific language impairment and its possibilities. For the purposes of this thesis, worksheets were created through which the development of the area could be implemented. The diploma thesis is divided into four chapters. Three chapters represent the theoretical part, the fourth chapter is empirical. In the first theoretical chapter, knowledge about specific language impairment (causes, symptomatology, diagnosis and therapy) is written. Similarly, specific learning disabilities are described in the second chapter. The third theoretical chapter approaches the issue of reading comprehension development. It is focused on the development of pre-reading literacy, the possibility of teaching initial reading and writing, and the development of functional literacy. The fourth empirical part of the thesis presents a qualitative research investigation, which was carried out using case studies and semi-structured interviews with teachers. At the end of the practical part, the results of the research investigation are summarized and recommendations for working with the created worksheets are presented.
Physical Education Lessons in Pupils with Developmental Dysphasia

The thesis focuses on the issue of teaching the subject of physical education to pupils with developmental dysphasia in Czech elementary schools. The thesis is divided into a theoretical part and an empirical part. The theoretical part focuses on the terminology of developmental dysphasia and its classification, summarizes findings from the field of aetiology, symptomatology, diagnosis, and therapy. Subsequently, the thesis defines school age, older school age and further focuses on defining the subject of physical education. The empirical part of the thesis focuses on research, the main goal of which was to obtain information about the specifics of teaching physical education to pupils of older school age with developmental dysphasia in selected Czech elementary schools. The research was carried out by the method of mixed research using a survey with closed, semi-open and open questions. Descriptive statistics methods were used to analyse the data, and coding methods were used to process the data obtained from semi-open and open questions. 34 teachers participated in this research. The Specifics of Speech Development in Premature Infants

The diploma thesis deals with the problems in clinical speech therapy and is entitled Specifics in the speech development of premature infants. The theoretical and practical findings are included in the thesis. The theoretical part is devoted to premature birth, risks associated with premature birth and care of premature individuals. It also describes multiple pregnancy, twin pregnancy and twins in terms of their development, education and specific forms of communication. The last chapter of the theoretical part deals with child development, speech development and communication disorders. In the practical part, the empirical part, the research methods of the qualitative investigation and its focus are described in detail. The main aim of the thesis and sub-objectives are given. The thesis concludes with a summary of the data collected, which was used to develop a grounded theory. Creation and Use of Worksheets for Younger School-age Children with Specific Language Impairment

The diploma thesis deals with the topic of speech therapy intervention and its specifics in children of younger school age with developmental dysphasia, taking into account the practical use of worksheets. The theoretical part of the work characterizes the child's development in the period of younger school age with an emphasis on the development of cognitive and language abilities and the definition of the terms language, speech and communication. In the theoretical part of the thesis developmental dysphasia is described as a complex disruption of communication skills affecting the child's functioning in the educational process. In conclusion, space is devoted to the introduction of developmental dysphasia speech therapy intervention options used in the Czech Republic and abroad. The practical part represents a qualitative research investigation, focusing on verification of the usability of created therapeutic materials for three pupils of younger school age with developmental dysphasia. Utilization of Elkonin's Method of Phonemic Awareness in Children with Speech Fluency Disorders

The topic of this bachelor's thesis is the possibility of utilization of Elkonin's method of phonemic awareness in children with speech fluency disorders. The theoretical part focuses on general definition of communication and its developement since conception, furthermore it deals with specifics of language levels. Attention is also paid to pre-school children and description of their speech. The last brief chapter characterizes the nature of communication dissabilities in general. Out of existing communication disabilities the theoretical part focuses in detail on fluency Disorders as well namely stuttering and cluttering, their definition, etiology, diagnosis and treatment. Finally the last part describes the topic of phonological skills and Elkonin's method which develops said skills. The empirical part is realized in the form of qualitative research and it is based on analysis of phonemic awareness in observed children before and after the training. Anamnestic data of individual children are introduced as well as direct observation of the training process and subsequent evaluation. Development of auditory perception of children with phonological disorders

The bachelor thesis deals with the development of auditory perception of children with phonological disorders. The main goal of this work is to analyze the development of auditory perception of children with phonological disorders. Based on that, there were several sub-goals and research questions defined. The work is divided into the theoretical and empirical parts. The theoretical part is divided into two chapters. The first chapter defines the basic concepts related to the subject of communication, language and speech, the ontogenesis of language and speech and communication. As well as describes language levels of the two most common disorders, which are in the Czech Republic often confused with phonological disorders, specifically developmental dysphasia and developmental verbal dyspraxia. In this chapter, is possible to find the characteristics of hearing and auditory perception, as well as an explanation of the concept of phonemic hearing. It also describes the preschool age and cognitive development of the child in this period.
