These doctoral thesis deals with the educative aspects in the field of evolutionary biology. Given the fact that educational content and understanding of causal patterns in science may be influenced by the sociocultural background, the whole research is carried out in comparison with Great Britain. The main aim of the thesis is carried out three successive analyzes. First, the occurrence and the content of definitions of evolutionary terms in Czech and British science or biology textbooks have been compared (16 Czech and 16 British textbooks). Data were evaluated using content analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis. Subsequently, a comparison of teaching evolution has been made using a questionnaire survey (350 Czech and 122 British teachers) and interviews (10 Czech and 7 British teachers). Finally, a comparison of the Czech and British pupils' knowledge and opinions on specific evolutionary topics were obtained via a questionnaire (964 Czech and 97 British pupils). This bachelor thesis describes natural relations and history of the Jizera Mountains. First part is focused on geological and geomorphological processes creating the landscape and also on climatic and hydrological aspects. A second part gives an account of flora, which is a little reduced due to poor mineral subsoil. The exceptions are peat-bogs. These ecological subtypes represent the most valuable and the most important biotope of the Jizera Mountains. There we could discover a lot of unique and protected species of plants and animals. A history of the Jizera Mountains mapping here the settlements from prehistory age to modern times is also described in detail. Neither I do not forget to mention a development of textile and glass industry, which are also very important for this region at the field of economics. The deportation of the Germans after 2nd World War was an essential event resulting in almost complete displacement of the Bohemian border region. People have returned to the mountains due to tourism and a phenomenon of "the summer cottage" at 60th and 70th years of 20th century. A question about protection of the most specific comes out with an increasing quantity of visitors in this area. In the last part of the bachelor thesis is focused on this topic. This thesis has especially educational...

Hrubá, Barbora ; Ehler, Edvard (advisor) ; Hlaváčová, Lucie (referee)
This master thesis deals with forensic genetics. Primarily is forensic genetics put into the historical context. Then, there is described a biological material and the possibility of detecting biological traces. Further work is focused on the analysis of DNA, while there are elaborated in detail the techniques used as nucleic acid isolation, quantification of DNA, as well as types of polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Also the thesis deals with methods of obtaining DNA profiles - electrophoresis and sequencing and their variants. Finally, the thesis concern the issues of interpretation of forensic genetic data. Forensic biological exercises for high school students are processed in the didactic part. It has been tested in practice in biological seminars at Jiráskovo gymnázium in Náchod. Key words Forensic genetics, biological traces, didactics of biology
