Newborn hearing screening in the Czech Republic Abstract The aim of this diploma thesis is to summarize the important and actual information about a newborn hearing screening and its related topics. The theoretical part of this thesis contains the contemporary knowledge of the issue, the definition of terms for a comprehensive setting of issue in the context, illustrates the current state of knowledge of the issue in the Czech Republic in the comparison to some European and world countries and reveals some more directly and inextricably related topics. The practical part is based on the knowledge of the theoretical part. The practical part focuses on identification of the level of awareness of newborn hearing screening among pregnant women, which was investigated by a questionnaire. This part also analyzes, evaluates and discusses the results and suggestions for practice. The task of the practical part was not only to identify the research data, but also to provide information to expectant mothers about the possibilities and significance of the newborn hearing screening by appropriate form, as this topic is very current for the general public. Technical aspects of cochlear implants in people with severe hearing impairment

The objective of this work is to specify the technical aspects of cochlear implants in relationship to their impact on their users. The main contribution of this work is that through the description of individual parts of an implant and of the substance of its operation it draws attention to the impact of its usage on the user themselves. Simultaneously, by describing the current news in the area of cochlear implants it draws attention to the continuous development of this neuroprotheses and its elements. The bachelor's thesis is aimed at the division of individual parts of the cochlear implant and their technical specifications. In the thesis the core of the sound transmission and the operation of the implant and its adjusting are described. The attention is paid to the selection of the users of cochlear implants and approach of the community of the deaf people to this compensation aid. Limitations in the cochlear implant users form another part of this work. The individual theoretical pieces of information are interspersed with testimonies of the users themselves who express their attitudes and experience in individual areas of everyday life. TITLE: Forms and procedures for implementation of the education of hearing disabled children and pupils AUTHOR: Lenka Soukupová, DiS. I describe the methods we can use for education of these children. In the theoretical part I describe the organ of hearing, degrees of hearing failures and defects, some explorations, which can be used for hearing disabled people, some compensation instruments for them like various types of hearing aid, cochlear implantation… Then I describe speech upbringing of hearing disabled children, the way of communication between mother with her child and the communicative technics which are used by hearing disabled people. In the practical part I describe how teachers work with these children, which methods and forms of education they use it and what are children's reactions. TITLE: The Lexicon Evaluation of Children before their Enrolling in School AUTHOR: Lucie Durdilová DEPARTMENT: Special Education SUPERVISOR: Doc. PaedDr. Jiřina Klenková, Ph.D. Abstract: The submitted thesis is focused on evaluation of lexical - semantic levels of language in children in late pre-school age, it specifically follows up their achievement in parts of receptive and expressive vocabulary. The measurement is implemented through the diagnostic test method which was compiled on the basis of foreign inspiration drawn especially from anglophone linguistic ambience. The lexicon is measured in intact population and in children with specific language impairment with the aim to compare obtained data. Developed findings should help to increase efficiency of logopedic intervention in content part of the speech. The project is based on the fact that currently there are no useful update tests available in the Czech Republic for global evaluation of lexicon. Quality of an everyday life of people with hearing impaired

1 Summary The thesis deals with the quality of everyday life of the hearing impaired. Part of the text defines the concept of the quality of life and points out the present common problems concerning the life of hearing impaired people. The issues of education, job opportunities, identity and personal realization of a hearing impaired individual in the context of the current view of the quality of life are highlighted. The text also focuses on the heterogeneity of the hearing impaired population and emphasizes their different status in mainstream society relating to the communication code they use. The goal of this thesis is to bring closer the problems of the quality of life of the hearing impaired, with the emphasis on the current problem areas which need further improvement. The practical part contains an analysis and evaluation of a questionnaire survay focused on specific areas of the quality of life quality of the hearing impaired - the qualification, employability, job opportunities and ways of communication. Role of a Deaf Assistant in Primary Schools for pupils with Hearing Impairment

Thesis dealt with deaf assistants who work in primary school for pupils with hearing impairment. The aim was to find out their benefits for pupils with hearing impairment. The first chapters include introduction to the topic of hearing impairment, cultural minority the Deaf, development and education of students with hearing disabilities, focusing on the personality of the deaf assistant and his contribution in the educational process. Another part of the thesis deals with the research whose objective was to describe the influence of deaf assistant at a primary school for pupils with hearing impairment within the teaching process. The survey was carried out by observation in the classroom, where the deaf assistant worked primarily with the hearing teacher. As is clear from the survey results, the presence of a deaf assistant at a primary school for pupils with hearing impairment is of great importance for the development and education of pupils with hearing impairment in many ways.
Cochlear implant by adult

Bachelor thesis "The cochlear implant in an adult deaf" deals primarily with the cochlear implant. The most extensive part of the thesis talks about this topic, which also talks about the development and design of cochlear implants, explains the difference between cochlear implantation and tribal implantation and describes operation of implant and the subsequent setting of the implant. This section is also dedicated to binaural cochlear implantation, myths of cochlear implants and problems which are implanted meet. Bachelor thesis further defines an adult age and acquaints with the problems that loss of hearing in adulthood brings, suggests the possibilities of communication with a deaf person and mobility aids, which cochlear implant users use. The aim of this thesis is to map the level of hearing by adult with cochlear implant and the findings of the current problems by adult users of cochlear implants by questionnaire and interview.
Czech language at primary schools for children with hearing impairment

TITLE: Czech language at primary schools for children with hearing impairment SUMMARY: The topic of graduation thesis is education of students with hearing impairment, focusing on education in the Czech language. The thesis focuses on the recent history of education of students with hearing impairment, but also on the current situation in special education surdopedics and the current legal standards that define it. Sufficient space is devoted to the central theme of the thesis- the Czech language and its teaching. This thesis presents and comments the data that was obtained through quantitative research, which was implemented in four Czech primary schools for children with hearing impairment. In the investigation, we used methods of questioning (questionnaire for students and questionnaire for Czech language and literature teacher) and methods of observation (structured observation during the hours of Czech language and literature) on the 2nd stage of these schools. The aim of this thesis was the most complex mapping of Czech language and literature- in terms of modes of communication, staffing of teaching, used textbooks and teaching aids, and in terms of views of our respondents in the Czech language and literature as well as their opinion of the Czech language as such.
