Organic food labelling and its influence on Generation Y´s purchase behavior on German market
Fiala, Jan
The Diploma Thesis examines the perception, influence and role of organic food labelling on the German market in connection with the consumer behavior of Generation Y as organic food products have become of high interest over the last decade. This thesis also examines the main factors having an impact during decision-making process while purchasing organic food. In the theoretical part the relevant topics are introduced and discussed, such an organic food, labelling system, consumer behavior or Generation Y. Practical part deals with gathering primary data through online questionnaires (n = 185) and in-depth interviews (n = 14) and their analyzing and evaluation in statistical software. Both information and data gathered from secondary and primary research help form recommendations for economic subjects producing and selling organic food products and placing special labels on their packages.
DNA Computing and Applications
Fiala, Jan ; Petrlík, Jiří (referee) ; Bidlo, Michal (advisor)
This thesis focuses on the design and implementation of an application involving the principles of DNA computing simulation for solving some selected problems. DNA computing represents an unconventional computing paradigm that is totally different from the concept of electronic computers. The main idea of DNA computing is to interpret the DNA as a medium for performing computation. Despite the fact, that DNA reactions are slower than operations performed on computers, they may provide some promising features in the future. The DNA operations are based on two important aspects: massive parallelism and principle of complementarity. There are many important problems for which there is no algorithm that would be able to solve the problem in a polynomial time using conventional computers. Therefore, the solutions of such problems are searched by exploring the entire state space. In this case the massive parallelism of the DNA operations becomes very important in order to reduce the complexity of finding a solution.
LGBT Movement in the Czech Republic from an Activist Point of View
Fiala, Jan ; Císař, Ondřej (advisor) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
The thesis deals with issues of LGBT movement in the Czech Republic in the context of the ongoing campaign "We are fair" for equal marriage. The intention was to try to find out on the basis of in-depth semi-structured interviews with LGBT activists how these activists perceive the status of sexual minorities in the Czech Republic and the related situation of the Czech LGBT movement with regard to its emancipatory potential. It turned out that the activists sensitively perceived the limits of the conditionality of the tolerance of Czech society and that they were aware of the changes in the social and political context in relation to minorities. However, particular minorities are not perceived in the same way by the society, and according to activists, LGBT rights can even be a tool for legitimizing aversion to other minorities, especially religious or ethnic minorities. On the level of reflection on the ongoiong campaign's strategies, activists put the emphasis on political lobbying for equal marriage, with the support of community mobilization and the formation of collective identity defined by the requirement of equal marriage. From the perspective of activists, it is therefore important to balance the professionalized lobbying with grassroots activism. Although, according to activists, the...
Smart Tramway in Brno
Fiala, Jan ; Maršík, Lukáš (referee) ; Zemčík, Pavel (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is selecting appropriate technologies, that can be used to locate tram while passing through a section where the pantograph should be lowered or raised, design and implementation of localization system. In this solution, radio frequency identification is used as main source of localization, distance from given place is determined by satellite navigation which is used as backup source of localization. The core of the system is the Arduino platform.
The Development of Algorithmic Thinking among the Pupils of Lower Secondary Schools
Fiala, Jan ; Vaňková, Petra (advisor) ; Novák, Jaroslav (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the development of algorithmic thinking among the lower-secondary students as one of their digital competences. It is based on the principle of algorithmic thinking related to the concept of computational thinking and it searches for the ways how to develop it in pupils. The theoretical part is supported by Skinner's concept of programmed learning and with the help of gamification proposes the research based on the students' observation in one school year in which the competence is developed. The raised issue is solved by setting a complex set of teaching materials and learning activities (both in the digital environment and unplugged activities) and their partial transfer into the teaching to a virtual, algorithmic environment of the specially designed application called Prográmko. The goal of the thesis is the analysis of the possibilities of how to include the gamification and the programmed learning into the practice of the development of algorithmic thinking taught at the lower-secondary schools. The research also evaluates the applicability of the application Prográmko and the proposed set of materials provided with methodological guidelines in the practice.

Scavenging on invertebrate cadavers in different agricultural habitats
FIALA, Jan
The thesis deals with scavenging on invertebrate cadavers. The goal was to estimate the dynamics of revelation and consumption of the cadavers by scavengers and to evaluate different effects influencing the dynamics in two agricultural habitats meadow and arable field.
Nonlinear Piezoelectric Vibration Energy Harvesting Device
Fiala, Jan ; Věchet, Stanislav (referee) ; Hadaš, Zdeněk (advisor)
This thesis is focused on design and analysis of piezoelectric beam with added non-linear stiffness. The nonlinear stiffness is realized using a permanent magnet and a iron block. Thesis is focused mainly on the analysis of the behaviour of the beam without added electrical load.
The Prestige of Teachers Occupation
Fiala, Jan ; Šanderová, Jadwiga (advisor) ; Gorčíková, Magdaléna (referee)
Thesis deals with the prestige of the teaching profession. Its main goal is to try to find out how teachers themselves perceive the prestige connected with their profession. The research consisted of in-depth semi-structured interviews with teachers on this issue and their subsequent analysis. It turned out that although teachers occupy on occupational prestige scales regularly top positions within the interviews they spoke about very low prestige connected with their occupation. The thesis also presents and describes in detail the factors based on analysis of interviews which emerged in connection with low self-esteem of teachers in terms of prestige as a major. This mainly concerns the relatively low income and the related lower standard of living, which forces teachers to have a secondary income. Furthermore, the analysis showed that teachers low self-esteem is affected by alleged lower difficulty of faculties of education, difficult assesment of work results and underastimated difficulty of work from the publics point of view. Not forgetting the little influence of educational unions and the lack of professional organizations that defend the interests of teachers. Last but not least, the low self-esteem of teachers is also affected by publics belief that teaching is not professional or highly...
