Mountain trekking in diabetic patients treated with an insulin pump
Bytelová, Sophie ; Daďová, Klára (advisor) ; Majorová, Simona (referee)
Title: Mountain tourism for diabetics with an insulin pump Objectives: The aim of this study is to find out whether it is suitable for patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus treated with an insulin pump to undergo physical activity in the form of mountain tourism, as the more intense physical aktivity affects blood glucose levels and whether patients are able to work with advanced insulin pump functions. Methods: The work is conceived as an observational study of the Medtronic educational project. One day mountain hike trip of a distance about 30 km was attended by 40 patients (men and women) with diabetes aged 15-25 years. Non-invasive methods were used. The data was obtained by monitoring insulin pump probes, glucometers and continuous monitoring, which were further evaluated using the CareLink Pro software. Results: Physical activity in the form of mountain tourism is suitable for patients with DM1 treated on an insulin pump. 80% of the probands did not have a risk status of hypoglycaemia, and even though the determined normoglycemia for research was performed by a larger number of adults as opposed to children, this FA has a demonstrable effect on blood glucose levels. It also brings positive benefits for patients because they learn how to work better with advanced insulin pump functions....

Title: Physical activity in the primary prevention of type 2 diabetes Objectives: The aim of the survey of this thesis is to focus on the incidence and type of risk factors which could have appeared before type 2 diabetes or prediabetes and how these risk factors have increased the diabetes risk score. If these factors were influenceable or not. Thirteen female patients of diabetological outpatient department of the Hospital in Teplice took part in the survey. They were further asked about the change in their lifestyles. Methods: The research was based on an anonymous survey with 26 questions, which I created. Fifteen forms were distributed to female patients of diabetological outpatient department of the Hospital in Teplice. The average age of the patient was 62,5 years, SD = 6,8. The youngest patient was 42 years old, the oldest was 73. The average time of the disease, which the patient lived with, was 7,3 years, SD = 6,8. The shortest time was 2 years and the longest was 14 years. Thirteen forms were completed properly and completely and were used for the survey. I interviewed two women to make sure the questions were comprehensible. The data I collected were evaluated and commented. Results: The results of my survey confirmed the incidence of leading risk factors for type 2 diabetes, containing...

Title: The Effect of Exercise Intervention on Physical Fitness and Quality of Life in Patients after Bariatric Surgery Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the effect of a three-month physical intervention on the physical fitness and quality of life in patients after bariatric surgery. Compare the measured values from six-minute walk test (6MWT) and the questionnaire survey of quality of life between the group undergoing exercise program and the group of non-exercise patients. Methods: The diploma thesis was constructed as a quasi-experiment. A six-minute walk test, a visual analogue pain scale, a Borg scale and a standardized IWQOL-Lite questionnaire were used to asses physical fitness and quality of life. The study involved 28 patients (8 undergoing an exercise program, 20 non-excercisers). The groups were measured before the planned bariatric surgery and about 3-4 months after the surgery. For the analysis of final values, the Microsoft Excel and its add-in Realstatistics was used. Results: In patients undergoing the exercise program, the VAS on average decreased of 2,04 cm, 6MWT improved on average of 42,75 m, and quality of life of 34 points. In non-exercise patients there was an average decrease in VAS of 0,08 cm, an increase in 6MWT of 41,45 m and an increase in quality of life...

Kovařík, Michal ; Hráský, Pavel (advisor) ; Daďová, Klára (referee)
Title: Effect of individual intervention programme on selected components of health- related fitness to proband without previous movement experience Objective: The main objective of the thesis is physical analysis and diagnosis of individual, individual intervention program creation and subsequent assessment of whether and how personally leaded program can affect selected components of health-related fitness to proband without any previous experience. Methods: For the needs of this thesis several types of measurements were used. Body composition using bioelectrical impedance analysis, postural stability - posturograph, laboratory stress test on a treadmill, terrain stress test on the athletics track, the basic movement patterns using diagnostic according to Janda, as a complementary test was chosen dynamometer to determine the strength of forearm muscles. Results: During the 16-week intervention changes occurred in many of the parameters. Individual intervention program has brought significant changes in body composition, specifically to reduce the ratio of ECM/BCM in the early phase of the program, but later was its exacerbation. Generally, the trend showed improvement in postural stability due to the generally realized PA. The intervention program did not demonstrate significant changes in...

Title: The physical activity of dog-owning persons with a spinal cord injury. Objective: The aim of this thesis is to find out the level of physical activity of persons with a spinal-cord injury who own a dog. This work employs both subjective and objective methods of analysis. A secondary objective is to find out whether dog-owning individuals with a spinal cord injury get enough daily physical activity as recommended by the Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines for Adults with Spinal Injury. Method: The research was conducted using a combined qualitative-quantitative method. The sample comprised of five men aged 29-66 years with spinal cord injury (4 quadriplegic and 1 paraplegic). The physical activity was subjectively measured by a semi-structured interview "PARA-SCI." Objective measurement of the physical activity was conducted using an accelerometer ActiGraph GT3X+. Each participant's physical activity was measured for three three days. Results: The average objective physical activity of the participants was 2166.3 minutes, while the average PARA-SCI result was 1558.8 minutes. The difference between these two results is not statistically significant. The participants fulfilled the levels of physical activity as prescribed by the aforementioned guidelines. Keywords: Paraplegia, quadruplegia,...

The participants were measured in four modifications of the bipedal stance: wide base of support with the eyes open; wide base of support with the eyes closed; narrow base of support with the eyes open; narrow base of support with the eyes closed. Each measuring session took 30 seconds. Results: Six parameters of postural stability were...
Assessment of the "New speaking" method in the treatment of stuttering
Vlasáková, Jana ; Daďová, Klára (advisor) ; Malá, Michaela (referee)
Name: Assessment of the "New speaking" method in the treatment of stuttering Objectives: Stuttering is a serious speech disorder where the consequences can significantly handicap individuals. Except the common logopedic care, there are also different alternative methods, including group therapy with the name "New speaking". The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to evaluate the effect of this method from the perspective of two graduates. Methods: The main used method was exploratory (interview). Two subjects (female - 26 years old and male - 19 years old) participated in the case study. The interview consisted of fourteen questions. Results: Based on the analysis of the interviews it is possible to state that the "New Speech" method is working when the rules are followed. Absolvents perceive a subjectively significant improvement of speech with social and psychological consequences. Improvement in the social area can be supported by the fact that subjects are able to speak under all conditions and also that they perceive increase of job possibilities. The psychological improvement was less visible. It is suggested to work on their self-confidence and hardiness. Key words: speech disorder, stuttering, group therapy
