Influence of technology on the children's free time development

Bořivoj Brdička, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: This bachelor's thesis "The influence of technology on the children's leisure time development" deals with the influence of information and communication technologies on the way of spending leisure time of children and youth. The work includes a comparison of several studies dealing with this issue. The thesis is also considering potential impact of ICT on the development of children, particularly in connection with playing computer games and engaging in social networking. The practical part contains survey conducted in primary school children aged 7-15 years followed by interpretation of results. The conclusion contains recommendations for minimizing the risks for children that information and communication technologies may represent. Video as a didactic aid for inclusion on secondary school

This diploma thesis compares (through the method of action research) the impact of using video tutorials with text manuals. The chosen content represented the programming by means of KODU Game Lab with text manuals and MINECRAFT Education Edition with the instructions in the form of video tutorials. At the end of each issue, students were assigned two tasks to work out. Their success rate results were subsequently evaluated. The influence of video tutorials was related to secondary school students: to those with special educational needs, long- term ill pupils and gifted athletes with extensive absence from school. The research in empirical part has proved that video tutorial is preferred learning tool rather than text materials; therefore, it should be considered as an important potential method for the individualization of teaching process. The implementation of video tutorials has obviously helped to make the learning outcomes of SEN students better. It can therefore be stated that video has a potential to serve as a prospective tool for the efficient inclusion of these pupils.

Bořivoj Brdička, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: Use of podcast as an educational medium is the principal and crucial topic of this thesis. The diploma thesis is focused on history and development of this phenomenon and points to the possibilities of podcast use at primary schools. The goal of this thesis is to show not only the advantages and benefit of the podcast for pupils and the teacher, but also to highlight the possible problems during its use and introduction. The theoretical part is dealing with aspects and podcast use at schools and provides an overview of existing researches. The other part is giving us an overview of existing solutions and good examples of practice at Czech schools and schools in abroad. The main part represents an experiment description including own solution proposal used at the primary school in Staňkov. This thesis can serve as a podcast guide for other possible interested persons striving for similar activities. How pupils use ICT when doing school homework

The goals of this thesis are: to find out what role do information and communication technologies (ICT) play in learning and students' preparation for school and in what conditions and means are students using ICT for school preparation in non-school settings; and to show the current state of digital technology usage by students for school purposes, but also to hint at the potential challenges in the implementation and usage of information and communication technologies. The theoretical part consists of three aspects; it introduces the terms preparation for school and learning using information and communication technologies; analyzes the current relation of curricular documents to using ICT in schools, and summarizes results from thematically-related research. The research part of this thesis presents the results of the quantitative and qualitative research inquiry into selected high-school students and their teachers/educators. The goal of this inquiry was to determine what methods and in what conditions are students using ICT in their school preparation.
Analysis of methods using technologies in health education

This thesis is dedicated to a research of the influence of information technologies in Health Education in scope of various forms of education. The theoretical part focuses on determining the aims of education, teaching approaches and means of education in various areas of education. It deals with formal, non formal and informal education. A major role in this work is given to curators whose influence penetrates all spheres of teaching, especially in non formal and informal environment. This thesis shows how much the role of a teacher shifts towards curatorship and thus increases the influence it has on the target group (pupils) in an after-school environment. The empirical part is dedicated to the individual curators and video interviews with them. The questions of the interview focus on healthy life style, teaching, their presentation online and the role of technology in contemporary health education. A questionnaire researching the experience of both, pedagogues and students of the health education major, with using digital technologies in class is also a part of the empirical unit. Based on the analysis of the interviews and the questionnaire, this thesis shows the present state of the use of technologies in health education and concludes the most likely course of development. The subject of this dissertation is area of information and communication technology for social, communicative and cognitive ability of learners and subsequent negative consequences in the process of education. The aim is to identify and analyze problems in the field of education and their connection with the use of information and communication technologies. The thesis involves information from research, which is focused on effects of Information and communication technology on children's psyche and the negative impacts this action in education at the elementary school. To meet the objectives of this dissertation were used theoretical and empirical research methods. The content of theoretical research methods was the study and analysis of literature, articles and especially analysis of scientific literature professionally primary information sources of research studies and experiments. In the field of empirical research methods were used in the thesis questionnaire survey in the realm of community teachers. The conclusion contains the results of exploratory research methods, conclusions and recommended proposals for the area of education and teaching practice.
