Vorba, Filip ; Šimek, Václav (referee) ; Vašíček, Zdeněk (advisor)
This project is about designing a new SDR (Software Defined Radio) receiver for band up to 40 MHz.
Embedded System for Water Level Monitoring
Hanák, Jiří ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (referee) ; Šimek, Václav (advisor)
This work is dealing with the design and implementation of an embedded water level monitoring system. The purpose of the system is to control the filling of a tank based on the water level. First of all, the attention is given to the survey of existing measurement techniques and selection of the appropriate sensing elements for a given scenario. In fact, the embedded system is using TFmini and JSN-SR04T-2.0 contactless sensors. The system is controlled by STM32F0 microcontroller from STMicroelectronics programmed in C using HAL abstraction layer. The measured results are sent via Wi-Fi SoC ESP8266EX to the Python server that is used for processing and demonstratiton purposes.
HAM Station Log Book for Linux
Kaluža, Jan ; Růžička, Richard (referee) ; Šimek, Václav (advisor)
The goal of this bachelor's thesis is to design and implement an amateur radio logbook software for a GNU/Linux operating system. After the short introduction there are described existent logbook applications together with analysis of their advantages and disadvantages. Based on this analysis the logbook application is designed and implemented. Finally, there is a summary and discussion of possibilities for further improvements.
USB HID Monitor
Budai, Ondřej ; Šimek, Václav (referee) ; Růžička, Richard (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is to design and implement application for in-depth analysis of USB HID devices’ structure and communication. The resulting application is capable of visualization various information retrieved from device. It can handle bidirectional communication between computer and HID device and it’s available for operating systems Windows and GNU/Linux under libre software license. Application with this set of features currently does not exist. Thus, its creation is really beneficial for all USB HID developers.
System for Recording and Reporting Fault States of Cooling Devices
Jašek, Filip ; Vašíček, Zdeněk (referee) ; Šimek, Václav (advisor)
The thesis deals with the design and creation of a system for recording and reporting error states of cooling devices on the principle of a compressor heat pump. An important element of the concept of the entire monitoring system is a built-in platform based on the ESP32 microcontroller for evaluating data measured by sensors. Another key element is the communication module, which sends measured data via GPRS in the form of MQTT messages to the service web application. The application receives, evaluates and records measured data. Subsequently are measured data and evaluated error states presented to the user in the form of tables and interactive graphs.
Issue of Migrating from Single-Core to Multi-Core Implementation of Operating System
Matyáš, Jan ; Šimek, Václav (referee) ; Strnadel, Josef (advisor)
This thesis discuss necessary changes needed in order to run MicroC/OS-II on multicore processor, mainly Zynq 7000 All Programmable SoC which uses two ARM Cortex-A9 cores. Problems that arise during this transition are also discussed.
Acceleration of Data Compression Algorithms on Sony PS3 Platform
Breitenbacher, Dominik ; Jaroš, Jiří (referee) ; Šimek, Václav (advisor)
This paper presents the use of PlayStation 3 device for accelerating compression algorithms and tries to show the potencial of PlayStation 3 for use on these tasks. For a demonstration was selected compression method based on the Burrows-Wheeler transformation. The output of the transformation is further transformed by using the Move-To-Front transformation and subsequently encoded by the static Huffman encoding. The compression algorithm has been called PS3BWT. It performs compression by using each of tasks and tries to always use the maximum number of avaible processor units, so the compression is carried out as quickly as possible.
Weather Station with Ethernet Interface
Novák, Pavel ; Šimek, Václav (referee) ; Bartoš, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis deals with the design and construction of the meteorological station. The meteorological station is designed and constructed to be able to measure the basic meteorological parameters (temperature, humidity, air pressure) and the other three variables (measuring rainfall, wind speed, wind direction). This thesis will introduce you to meteorology. Meteorology determines the daily weather forecast and the results are used for examples in aviation or maritime affairs. The method of atmospheric origin is given in the theoretical part. Meteorology must use measuring instruments to determine quantities. The dissertation also includes analysis of the measuring instruments. The meteorological station uses the Ethernet technology. In the chapter devoted to Ethernet are described its principles, types and method of power supply over Ethernet. The following section describes the design of the entire meteorological station, selection of all components and description of their connection. The chapter about implementation contains a description of the parts which forms program part of the meteorological station. The aim of the thesis is a summary of the achieved results including price comparison of the renovated meteorological station with other meteorological stations, which can be normally bought.
Self-Testing of Microcontrollers
Denk, Filip ; Šimek, Václav (referee) ; Strnadel, Josef (advisor)
This Master's thesis deals with functional safety of electronic systems. Specifically, it focuses on self-testing of the microprocessor and its peripherals at the software level. The main aim of the thesis is to design and implement a set of functions written in programming language C or assembly language, which automatically test the selected areas of the microcontroller. Resources and methods used in the implemented solution also aim to meet the requirements according to the safety standard IEC 60730-1, Annex H, Software Class B. The microcontroller NXP LPC55S69 was chosen as a hardware platform. It consists of two ARM Cortex-M33 cores. As a result, the example application is provided, which uses implemented test functions at the run-time. Example application also contains a graphical user interface with fault injection ability.
Localization of Objects in Wireless Sensor Network Environment
Vícha, Tomáš ; Bidlo, Michal (referee) ; Šimek, Václav (advisor)
This thesis deals with the use of spatial awareness methods within technologies designed for creation of short-range wireless sensor networks. The thesis analyzes several techniques that can be used to estimate position of objects within the sensor network. For a practical solution, a method based on measuring the time differences of the sent messages was chosen. A circuit implementation of a network node based on the DW1000 chip, which works on ultra-wideband transmission technology, was implemented. A sensor network with the appropriate user application for its operation and display of localization results was also implemented.
