Non-daily commuting with the capital city Prague as an example
Horáček, Jiří ; Čermák, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Nemeškal, Jiří (referee)
The Bachelor's thesis is focused on non-daily commuting, with Prague use as the example. Spatial mobility, its development and concepts associated with non-daily commuting are addressed in the introductory part. Followed by a section dealing with data and population census and housing. Thereafter, non-daily commuting data is analysed and compared with the absolute values of daily commuting. I also focused on the intensity of non-daily commuting and the relationship between non-daily commuting and long-term migration to Prague. The next section describes the survey, which confirms the results stemming from the analysis of data from the 2011Census. A review of the investigation and analysis has demonstrated a strong dependence between non-daily commuting and migration to Prague. Within Czechia, non-daily commuting reaches its highest intensity in the Southern Region. The only region that has an even higher level of commuting to Prague is the Central Bohemian Region, but this case is not involved in non-daily commuting lasting more than 24 hours. Keywords: non-daily commuting, migration, spatial mobility, the capital city of Prague, 2011 Census and Housing

This thesis combines traditional methods of social sciences (questionaire survey, statistical analysis) with modern tools of geographical information systems (GIS). The empirical knowledge about consumer behaviour of elderly people took in field survey was linked with multimodal network dataset and with geodatabase of retail facilities. As a main result of this thesis can be considered regionalization of study area of Bratislava city based on character of local retail environment. Identity of Man-Nurse in Relation to Working Group
Čermák, Zdeněk ; Smetáčková, Irena (advisor) ; Francová, Veronika (referee)
This paper is concerned with the issue of men working as male nurses (common attendant) in relation to their working group. I'm introducing three different points of view in the theoretical part, how can this issue be seen. First of them, the nursing view (leagal definition of profession), second one is the psychological view (the field of professional identity and its involving factors) and the third view is a social-psychological view (gender and its meaning for nursing profession). In the empiric part I'm presenting two case studies of common attendants, which results mainly from semistructured interviews with common attendants, their subordinate, superiors and sociometric important persons. Data gained from the interviews were consequently completed with data from sociometrie and observation. Key words: nursing, identity, working group, nurse, gender
Counterurbanisation: rhytmus, identities, homes
Šimon, Martin ; Ouředníček, Martin (advisor) ; Čermák, Zdeněk (referee) ; Ptáček, Pavel (referee)
8 Abstract Counterurbanisation research, which is a central topic of this thesis, represents an appropriate field where transformations of contemporary societies and their socio- spatial organization can be examined. The dynamics of social and societal changes creates a demand for developing new methods and tools which helps us to understand contemporary change. Counterurbanisation is a multi-faceted concept which has been controversial since its initial use. An introduction of the concept of counterurbanisation in the field of population geography provoked a general debate on new and emerging trends in development of settlement system. Different logics of concentration and deconcentration of human activities has been challenged. Counterurbanisation operationalized as a migration poses a challenge for many standard conceptualizations of migration. The logic of non-economically motivated migration from the centre to the periphery requires a search for alternative explanatory mechanisms. Impact assessment and the impact of counterurbanisation in rural communities are analogous to the classical social science studies evaluating the integration of immigrants from rural areas in the cities. The thesis is composed of two basic sections. The first section presents a broader theoretical and methodological...
Current Trends in Quantitative Analysis of Geographical Data: Potentialities and Limitations of Spatial Data Analysis
Netrdová, Pavlína ; Čermák, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Ježek, Josef (referee) ; Horák, Jiří (referee)
of the Ph.D. Thesis Netrdová, P.: Current trends in quantitative analysis of geographical data: potentialities and limitations of spatial analysis The thesis is a contribution to the discussion about the potentialities of the quantitative approach in geography. It follows the current trends in quantitative analysis of geographical data, specifically spatial analysis, particularly from the perspective of changes in the concept and character of applied methods and their possible contribution in geographical research. Due to the research focus of the author, the entire work is focused primarily on the issue of using quantitative methods in terms of social geography. Attention is focused particularly on statistically spatial analyses, which are the most widely used techniques in social geography, with a wide range of possible applications. One of the goals of this work is to bring the current development in quantitative geography closer to the Czech academic community, and thus contribute to the increased awareness of the potentialities of the application of quantitative methods and spatial analyses in geographical research. Methodological problems in the analysis of spatial data, theoretical changes in the concept of quantitative analysis and also newly emerging quantitative methods have not so far...
Labour market and spatial mobility in Plzen region
Duda, Petr ; Čermák, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Matušková, Alena (referee)
The Czech Republic underwent considerable social, political and economic changes after 1989. An important step was the creation of the labor market where jobs and wages were created based on market supply and demand. Due to effects of these market forces, unemployment was an unavoidable consequence. . Closely related to this was workforce flexibility which over the years became increasingly important. People migrating for work also had an effect on the housing market. The main objective of this thesis is to analyze the labor market in the Plzeň Region and the related spatial mobility since 2000 (with a brief development in the 90's). Another important objective is to determine to what extent the migration of the population is affected by the labor market situation and developments in the housing market. Two major institutions were used as the data source for processing thse reviews. The Labour Market in the Plzeň Region was mapped on the basis of data from the Labour Office in Plzeň. Data on development of spatial mobility and the housing market was gained from the Czech Statistical Office online databases and also from the Regional Office of CSO in Plzen. Key words: migration, labour market, housing market, Plzen
