Labour market and spatial mobility in Plzen region
Duda, Petr ; Čermák, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Matušková, Alena (referee)
The Czech Republic underwent considerable social, political and economic changes after 1989. An important step was the creation of the labor market where jobs and wages were created based on market supply and demand. Due to effects of these market forces, unemployment was an unavoidable consequence. . Closely related to this was workforce flexibility which over the years became increasingly important. People migrating for work also had an effect on the housing market. The main objective of this thesis is to analyze the labor market in the Plzeň Region and the related spatial mobility since 2000 (with a brief development in the 90's). Another important objective is to determine to what extent the migration of the population is affected by the labor market situation and developments in the housing market. Two major institutions were used as the data source for processing thse reviews. The Labour Market in the Plzeň Region was mapped on the basis of data from the Labour Office in Plzeň. Data on development of spatial mobility and the housing market was gained from the Czech Statistical Office online databases and also from the Regional Office of CSO in Plzen. Key words: migration, labour market, housing market, Plzen

Tolesh, Fariza ; Kučera, Tomáš (referee) ; Čermák, Zdeněk (advisor)
Population distribution and interregional migration in Kazakhstan Abstract: As a consequence of considerable regional disparities in socio-economic development the incidence of migration varies substantially between sections of the Kazakhstani population, between parts of the national territory and over time. In this diploma thesis we attempt to find out the recent evidence concerning variations in mobility within Kazakhstan and the way these variations have an effect on population distribution. The aim is to try to outline the major trends of migration between regions and determine main push and pull factors of the interregional migration, especially the case of rural to urban movements. Among the key features identified are the changing importance of the various spatial patterns of population localization and wide differential in migration propensities and patterns between people according to age and gender, position in the family, life cycle, occupation and education. Keywords: interregional migration, regional disparities, territorial distribution

Prof. Zdeněk Čermák Jakub Novák Synopsis of PhD Thesis 1 Jakub Novák Synopsis of PhD Thesis 2 INTRODUCTION Spatial mobility of world population has been unbelievably changing during the last decades. People from poor countries are moving thousands of kilometers to developed countries with the vision of material prosperity. Airplanes transport thousands of people in hours to places, where people had travelled much longer recently. Similarly, also an ordinary weekday is for the majority of population connected with relatively long moves between different places of daily activities. Traveling between home, work, kindergartens and schools, shops and leisure activities takes the significant part of our daytime. To capture the measureless amount of particular human creatures in their day-to-day moves through time and space seems to be almost impossible. In fact, it is not so unrealistic. Currently, we are surrounded by a number of electronic devices, which dispose with information about its location or record moving objects in their vicinity. Mobile phone is one of such...
