Gothic mural painting in castle chapels in Bohemia
Čechová, Lucie ; Hlaváčková, Jana Hana (advisor) ; Royt, Jan (referee)
This work is an investigation of Czech Gothic murals in castle chapels in Bohemia. The key for including of a mural to the catalogue was the founding date between early middle-ages up to the year 1526; end of the hegemony of the Jagellon dynasty amongst Bohemian Kingdom. The core of the work is a comprehensive catalogue of such murals. Included are 12 localities where these murals can be found, dating through 300 years of the middle-ages. Not included in this catalogue are the three well-documented sacral spaces in Karlštejn castle, although they also fit the time period in question. It must be acknowledged that the Karlštejn chapel murals are key elements in understanding this style and era, due to their quality and influential nature. This essay sought to isolate and explore any specific typology in this class of artwork. However, it must be stated that no such unique common character exists. The murals are more a reflection of the requirements and tastes of the individual patrons; they also express the fashion of their particular eras. There are also discrepancies in quality, which vary from century to century. In the 14th century, the quality of the investigated murals cannot be compared to that of paintings in the court of the King. However, by the late 15th and 16th centuries, the quality of murals...
Vápencové lomy jako útočiště pro vzácné druhy střevlíků (Coleoptera: Carabidae)
Čechová, Lucie
PhD thesis describes and compares carabid beetle communities (Coleoptera: Carabidae) from six quarries in various stages of succession - from the initial succession on bare substrate of a still active quarry to the succession in the high level of development in the quarry which is closed for more than four decades. The active quarries hosted a higher number of species of ground beetles than the quarries with a higher stage of succession. The occurrence of species corresponds to their habitat preference. It was found that species of open habitats, together with macropteric and eurytopic species, were strongly associated with a higher herb layer coverage. Forest species were positively correlated with the total vegetation coverage. The number of species and individuals of macropterous ground beetles was highest in the active and medium-term quarries, on the contrary, the lowest in the old quarries. Significant influence on the occurrence of ground beetles had total vegetation coverage and slope habitat.
Moravian Wine Center
Čechová, Lucie ; Myslín,, Jiří (referee) ; Dýr, Petr (advisor)
The primary aim of the project was to create a new hotel building with a wine gustation salon in a way which would interfere with the natural character of the surroundings as little as possible whilst offering a wide lookout. The purpose of this building facility is also more than four-star accommodations. The hotel also contains a restaurant, wine gustation salon with an adjacent wine gallery representing local wine area of Modré Hory and a spacious underground wellness complex making the stay at the hotel more pleasurable. The industrial conception of the building is inspired by wine production and the periodicality of vineyards which is observable on the front mounted facade. Preservation of the regularity of both horizontal and vertical rasters was possible thanks to this facade. Another interesting factor of the building is the roof of the overground part of the wellness center which is used as a staircase seating. This part of the object created a partially covered amphitheatre and a summer theater which also serves as the main front space entry of the hotel.
Separation of rotamers of 5-nitrosopyrimidines by capillary electrophoresis
Štěpánová, Sille ; Procházková, Eliška ; Čechová, Lucie ; Žurek, Jiří ; Janeba, Zlatko ; Dračínský, Martin ; Kašička, Václav
A new capillary electrophoresis (CE) method was developed for the separation of a new type of stereoisomers - rotamers of polysubstituted 5-nitrosopyrimidine derivatives. Partial separation of some rotamers was obtained in sodium borate, pH 9.3, or in Tris-phosphate, pH 2.2, background electrolytes (BGEs) free of cyclodextrins (CDs). However, the best, baseline separations of the rotamers of 5-nitrosopyrimidines were achieved in sodium borate BGE, pH 9.3, containing 20 mg/mL beta-CD as stereoselector, or in Tris-phosphate BGE, pH 2.2, with carboxymethyl-beta-CD as stereoselector.
