Specifics of nursing care for a paediatric patient after hip surgery

Background: This bachelor thesis deals with the specifics of nursing care for a child patient after hip joint surgery. Objectives: The aim of the research was to find out the specifics of nursing care for a patient after hip surgery in orthopedic departments or clinics located in Slovakia or Czech Republic. Subsequently the findings were evaluated and compared. Methods: The self-constructed questionnaire prepared for the bachelor's thesis was anonymous and non-standardized. A total of 37 nurses working in orthopedic departments or clinics participated in the research exploration. From a geographical point of view, they were employees of 2 Slovak and 2 Czech hospitals.For statistical analysis, given the stated hypotheses and the nature of the data, we used the test of agreement of two proportions, Chi - square association with Yates correction, Cohran's test of equality of pooled proportions and a series of McNamar's tests with Bonferroni correction for multiple comparisons Results: Nurses working in the orthopedic department with children's patients in Slovakia and the Czech Republic prepare their patients for surgery and for what awaits them after it. Quality of Patient Education in the Home Parenteral Nutrition Programme

The bachelor thesis deals with the quality of education of clients who were included in the home parenteral nutrition program. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and empirical parts. Indications, contraindications, and history of home parenteral nutrition are described in theoretical part. Also, its division by types and the most often used vascular entrances. The characteristics of education in nursing, the educational process, its goals, evaluation, and method of creating documentation for the implementation of all phases of the educational process are also described. The method of the survey investigation is described in the empirical part. It was conducted by using of a quantitative method by distributing non-standardized questionnaires to clients who have already been educated or will be educated during the survey. The purpose of this thesis is to gain the knowledge about how clients perceive the way of education conducted at our workplace, what information they consider to be insufficient, missing, or incomprehensible, and on what information or educational materials they would still like to have. The bachelor's thesis deals with the knowledge of nurses in the field of nursing care for patients with enteral nutrition. The work is divided into two parts, the theoretical part and empirical part. The aim of the final thesis is to map the knowledge of nurses in the field of enteral nutrition. Alternatively, increase awareness through professional training of nurses and prevent adverse effects in the administration of enteral nutrition that may occur with inappropriate nursing procedures in patients with enteral nutrition. The theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis deals with the types and types of artificial nutrition, methods of application, its indications and contraindications, and possible complications that may arise during the administration of enteral nutrition to patients. The empirical part of the final thesis is processed by quantitative research, it contains the results of a research investigation and subsequent comparison with the results of similar works. The Bachelor's thesis on the topic "Influence of type I diabetes mellitus on activities of daily life" is focused on the daily activities of children with type I diabetes mellitus, or diabetes. This disease is typical for childhood and its incidence is currently increasing. The aim of the work is to find out whether diabetes affects the activities of daily life in children and to investigate more closely in which areas and to what extent. The work is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part focuses on current knowledge about the disease, the history of the disease, its symptoms, diagnosis and treatment. Furthermore, activities of daily life, familiarization with the concept of self- sufficiency, self-care and children's needs. For research in the empirical part, was used a self- constructed questionnaire, which contained twenty-five items and was answered by sixty- seven respondents from the Pediatric Clinic at the Motol University Hospital, aged nine to eighteen. Sudden infant death syndrome is a timeless topic that, although it has been studied in sufficient depth, still represents an unexplained and unanswered problem in medicine. The aim of the work is to bring a comprehensive summary of the issue of sudden infant death syndrome and its prevention and to examine the knowledge of nurses regarding knowledge of this issue and cardiopulmonary resuscitation in infants. Another goal was to compare the level of knowledge found among nurses in selected departments. The bachelor thesis has two parts. The theoretical part is focused on basic information about sudden infant death syndrome, current recommendations regarding prevention and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The practical part includes quantitative research of its own construction in the form of questionnaire survey focused on nurses' knowledge of sudden infant death syndrome, its prevention, and knowledge of first aid in the event of the need to start cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The bachelor thesis will deal with the educational process in the children's bone marrow transplant unit at the Motol University Hospital. The educational process takes place in 4 stages, where both the doctor, psychosocial worker, nurse, as well as the patient and his family participate in the educational process itself. The work will focus on specifying nursing care in this department and education within this educational process, where the nurse herself already participates in educating the patient and his family when the patient is admitted to the transplant unit. Bachelor thesis "Perception of old age by caregiving professionals of assisted living facilities" maps attitudes towards aging across care professional tems in assisted living facilities and students preparing for this profession. The objective of this thesis is to remove taboo associated with attitudes towards aging in care professional and comparartion with attitudes of students of caregiving. Theoretial section defines caregiving professionals in assisted living facilities, clarifies concepts of perception and attitude. Furthermore it describes proces of aging, standing of senior citizens in society and residence programs. In empirical section are presented results of this respective quantitative investigation in their relationship with established hypotheses. Bachelor thesis "Spiritual Needs of Patients in Hospital Setting" deals with issue of patient´s need and their saturation in healthcare facilities. The objective of this thesis was to detrmine importance of spiritual needs to patients and map obstacles in their saturation. In theoretial section is presented overview of theories of needs and description of specific aspects of spiritual needs. Next it is presented comprehensive overview of spiricutual care in hospital setting. It describes importance of spiritual needs in nursing proces - assessment of spiritual needs and patient´s spiritual history, nurses diagnostics, nurses interventions, role of multidisciplinary team and questionaires used in evaluation of spiritual needs. Quality education of children before hospitalization is an important factor in reducing their stress from hospitalization and hospital environment. This bachelor thesis on "Educational material for children before cardiac surgery" discusses in more detail about congenital heart defects and the effect of hospitalization on the child in the theoretical part. In the empirical part, the results of quantitative research, their evaluation and graphical processing in Microsoft Excel including statistical hypotheses are written. The research method was a questionnaire survey at the inpatient ward of the Children's Cardiac Centre of the 2nd Faculty of Medicine and Motol University Hospital. The aim of the study was to determine the quality of education of children before hospitalization by parents and on the basis of our own research and the preferences found to create a proposal of educational material for the given age group, which could be used for practice. 1 Abstract Theme: The bachelor thesis "Specifics of education of a patient with cystic fibrosis" deals with the issue of education of a patient with this diagnosis. Aims: The aim was to find out the quality and method of education. To check the knowledge of nurses educating these patients. Compare education between hospitals, departments but also between age groups. And as a result, to improve the education carried out so far. Methods: The thesis is divided into two parts into theoretical and empirical. In the theoretical part, the thesis focuses on the description of the disease, its diagnosis, symptoms and treatment. Furthermore, on the specifics of education in the disease, methods of implementation and possible aids to education. The empirical part is processed on the basis of quantitative research using a non-standardized questionnaire survey of one's own creation with open and closed questions. Results: The questionnaire survey shows that there is a link between the age group of nurses and the frequency of education of patients with CF.
