Tectono-sedimentary evolution of the Pilsen Basin and characteristics of its mineral deposits
Michlová, Nikol ; Opluštil, Stanislav (advisor) ; Pešek, Jiří (referee)
The objective of this bachelor thesis is to provide an overview of tectono-sedimentary evolution of the Pilsen Basin based on published data and archived reports. Part related to mineral deposits evaluates economical potential of the basin in term of raw material, especially with respect to hard coal deposits. The qualitative parameters of coal are also provided in the second part of this bachelor thesis as well.

Emler, David ; Pešek, Jiří (advisor) ; Dvořáková, Vladimíra (referee) ; Colas, DOMINIQUE (referee)
CHARLES UNIVERSITY IN PRAGUE FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES Institute of International Studies Modern History PhD. Thesis POLITICS, HISTORY, MEMORY: POLITIC USES OF THE PAST IN FRANCE SINCE 1990s David EMLER Abstract The PhD. thesis analyzes the triangle of mutual influences between politics, history and memory. The introduction brings interpretations of the most important French concepts of memory (Halbwachs, Nora, Ricœur). The content is divided into three chapters, analyzing the mutual interactions of politics and history (so-called "memory laws" and reactions of historians), influences between memory and politics (uses of memory in presidential speeches), and mutual effects between history and memory (development of French historiography of contemporary history).
"Cephalonia" in the West German and Italian Cultures of Remembrance. 1943-1989
Mikulová, Soňa ; Pešek, Jiří (advisor) ; Woller, Hans (referee) ; Cornelißen, Christoph (referee)
This doctoral thesis deals with West German and Italian public memory of a specific wartime episode on the Greek island of Cephalonia. In September 1943, soldiers of the Wehrmacht, the regular German army, committed mass executions on up to 4,000 Italian prisoners of war. The thesis also analyses the mutual reception of the memory discourses in West Germany and Italy and examines the possibility of an interaction between their participants. The thesis uses the case study "Cephalonia" to expose how West German and Italian society came to terms with the past of the World War II in the period from 1943 to 1989. Heat processes in non-equilibrium stochastic systems
Pešek, Jiří ; Netočný, Karel (advisor) ; Speck, Thomas (referee) ; Lisý, Vladimír (referee)
This thesis is devoted to the theoretical study of slow thermodynamic processes in non-equilibrium stochastic systems. Its main result is a physically and mathematically consistent construction of relevant thermodynamic quantities in the quasistatic limit for a large class of non-equilibrium models. As an application of general methods a natural non-equilibrium generalization of heat capacity is introduced and its properties are analyzed in detail, including an anomalous far-from-equilibrium behavior. The developed methods are further applied to the related problem of time-scale separation where they enable to describe the effective dynamics of both slow and fast degrees of freedom in a more precise way.
