Tématem práce je vymezení metod competitive intelligence a jejich využívání v podnikovém prostředí. Práce se také věnuje vymezení pojmu samotného a jeho souvislosti s ostatními disciplínami jako knowledge management, business intelligence, konkurence a konkurenceschopnost a účelnosti jejich procesů. Popsány jsou také speciální prostředky a nástroje využívané pro competitive intelligence. V závěru práce je analýza situace v malých a středních podnicích.

Services over digital archives in science and research

The thesis focuses on various information services over digital archives and institutional repositories in the area of science and research. It aims to ascertain these online services and introduce, analyse and assess selected examples in detail. Their quantitative as well as qualitative features are emphasized - The work is logically divided into four chapters. The first one defines the basic terminology and outlines the contemporary status of scholarly communication on the Internet. The second chapter introduces a comprehensive list of services as well as their suggested typology. The third chapter constitutes the core of the thesis and presents the descriptions and analysys of the selected services. The fourth final part includes the comparison of their relevant parameters, final assessment and the perspectives of their future development. A comparative analysis of Czech and Slovak librarian periodicals

(anglicky): The subject of the my thesis are Czech and Slovak periodicals in the field of library and information science - their concise history, determination of the current terminology in this field and publishing work, description of the editorial staff and the roles of its members, reviewing procedure and editorial work applied to specific examples of both printed and electronic media, specification of formal appurtenances of a specialized article, citation and information ethics. The following chapter deals with the characteristics of the current specialized periodicals issued in the Czech and Slovak Republic. The research oriented part focuses upon the topical analysis of library periodicals, further the results of two questionnaires relating to editorial work are discussed as well as various preparatory stages of a specialized periodical. Práce je věnována některým aspektům čtení z psychologického a pedagogického hlediska. Zabývá se počátky čtení - podmínkami osvojení si této dovednosti, metodami výuky čtení; popisuje průběh vývoje čtenářských dovedností hlavně s ohledem na rozvoj čtenářství. Dále se věnuje rozvoji funkční gramotnosti, konkrétně práci s textem, porozumění textu a metakognitivním postupům při práci s textem. Obsah bakalářské práce chce reagovat na potřeby knihovníků, kteří jsou v každodenním kontaktu se čtenáři.

The diploma thesis deals with questions of predominantly information ethics and encounter in practice. The aim of the thesis is to describe and analyze the ethical problems associated with information institutions, as well as to conduct research in Czech libraries. The work is divided into five parts. The first part deals with the theory of several types of ethics, describes the information society and also presents a topic of creative common theme as a topic of citation ethics. The second part deals with the codes of ethics of some information institutions, then devoted to libraries as a main interest of the work, described their definition and system in the Czech Republic. Subsequently is presented topic of ethic and libraries. The third part summarizes the topic of ethical codes and ethics on the websites of supranational, largely library organizations, along with some national ethical codes. The fourth part presents two examples of studies, one focusing on the Code of Ethic and the other on ethics violations in one of the libraries in Florida. Exploring readability - a comparison of methods of text difficulty measuring

This bachelor thesis consists of two main parts. Following a short historical overview in the field, the most used readability formulæ for Czech and English languages are presented in the first part, with peeks to couple of solutions in other languages as well. Each readability measure is presented with an equation and instructions for its use. In the more practical second part, the work focuses at using or not using the formulæ on everyday basis, presents problems related to them and discusses their reliability supported by author's own measurements. Voice systems usage and their application in the information society

This bachelor thesis deals with the problems of speech recognition and its practical use. This function is described theoretically for more scientific disciplines, as well as towards the Information Sciences with emphasis on the thematic area of Human Computer Interaction. The work also includes a survey focused to obtain information on the behavior of users of contact centers - their habits, frequency of use, the type of service preference and request of new features. It also includes specific questions about the functions of speech recognition and voice identification. This pilot survey can be the basis for further extensive research. The aim is to determine the possibility of using speech recognition and the real needs of users.

The profile of Dialog vendor

Diplomová práce se zabývá profilem databázového centra Dialog, vývojem jeho služeb a produktů a aspekty cenové politiky. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována zakladateli tohoto centra - Rogeru Summitovi. První část práce se zabývá dětstvím a profesionální praxí Rogera Summita, která je neodmyslitelně spjata s historií databázového centra Dialog. Nastíněn je vývoj služeb a produktů pro koncové uživatele až do roku 2000. Tato část se také věnuje prodeji společnosti Dialog firmě Knight-Ridder, Inc. a později firmě MAID plc. V rámci toho jsou představeni noví prezidenti Dialogu. Druhá část práce je věnována současnosti databázového centra Dialog. Jedná se o období od roku 2000, kdy je Dialog vlastněn informačním koncernem Thomson Corporation. V následující části je popsán vývoj cenové politiky Dialogu. Jsou zde rovněž popsány názory uživatelů na zavedení nových cenových modelů. V závěru práce jsou shrnuty aktuální údaje o tomto databázovém centru. Přílohy se zaměřují na rozšiřující informace, které se týkají Rogera Summita. Uvedena je také jeho profesionální bibliografie.
